My immediate fave is that Live studio/rehearsal version of '' eye No '' marked ' #1'.

Oh, and 17 Days. Hoooot.

I think "Nothing Compares 2 U" is the 1984 version as opposed to the one from 1991....anyone have any idea?

The "Lovesexy" sessions tracks are insanely good.

Stunning alternate renditions in great sound quality.

A real treat.

The gospel feel of Eye Know really shines through on these.

I simply can't decide whether I prefer #1 or #2 - they are both such excellent versions!

Loving the magic Jethro flute and the energy on #2... cool

This is the original '84 version. I bet the 1991 version is more like Sinead O' Connor's version, like the ' 92 live version he released on The Hits 1.

#2 is just #1 with vocal overdubs and a few other overdubs, so I like it more.

#1 is a live studio band performance, #2 is an earlier version of the album version.

I admittedly cooled off on Prince's music for a bit because I was listening to too much of it for a while lol but I just woke up and heard about this bootleg, and I'm incredibly excited to check it out. Especially "17 Days", I've been wanting to hear the extended version since I got into his music!

Even on a cursory listen this is an excellent set. The original version of 'Nothing Compares 2 U' just slayed me.

Genius.

Cosmic Day is not worth all the teasing. IMO, it's one of the least interesting outtakes ever.

Blast From the Past 6.0 has even more songs on it but the post I made yesterday was taken down. Not 100% sure why but I don't argue over that stuff. This is an excellent start for the songs that will be on 6.0

I find it strange that the 1991 cut is even listed on Princevault.

.

Alan Leeds said that Prince had cut it http://thelastmiles.com/i...-leeds.php

BUT...

Eric Leeds said that Prince didn't wanna have nothing to do with it, had Eric do it and didn't add any music on it (that Eric knew of) before sending it to Miles: http://www.thelastmiles.c...-part2.php

.

Obviously, Eric's version would have to more informed, therefore closer to the truth, than Alan's.

That version of Bang Bang wasn't know to exist. So basically Levi (who composed it) did it all with P before send it to Mark.

BFTP6 hasn't been released yet. so we're not allowed to discuss it.

this release ('closer 2 god: outtakes 1980-2015') seems to be a 'reaction package'
assemled and released overnight to undercut the BFTP6 guy from making money
off those outtakes.

so it remains to be seen if this is the best soundquality for all these tracks or if the
watermarks (like at the end of 17 Days) are the same as the BFTP6 one will be.

remember, "emotional pump" and "101" were pre-released in much the same way
but were mono versions, where the eventual BFTP4&5 release had the stereo ones.

so i'm also still keeping my fingers crossed that BFTP6 will have the full Cosmic Day
and Big House, although chances seem slim.

but there might still be some differences in quality (and obviously content) between
these two releases.

There is a sticky thread for that subject which willbe open upon release.
