"It ain't Over 'Till The Fat Lady Sings" sounds like the weird music during Under The Cherry Moon when Tricky is drunk & ranting around the club and has a fight with Christopher. Then the toothy old lady asks him when they can get together again.
"New Position" and "17 Days" - worth it all.
I don't think New Position works that well with the orchestra. Same with Other Here with Us. But interesting to hear nevertheless. The wooh is on the one! |

"Red Scarlett" was mentioned 1 time here in 2004 with no replies... still sounds 94/95 ish to me - in fact the lead line is the same as 'Ripopgodazippa', and the rapping style is similar to that era (or even later, like "Strange But True").
Intriguing!

I like this version of If I Could Get Your Attention. Adds some missing elements in the released single version. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records. |

Nothing Compares 2 U is just stunning. One of the most emotive Prince vocals ever recorded for me, and THE definitive version of this song.
I'm going to say that Red Scarlett is '91, maybe even '92 at a push. A very cool track.
I also have no idea why the extended version wasn't released on the 12" of When Doves Cry. It's incredible. |

OMG Pangea? This is one of the very later things he recorded after Baltimore. How the heck did they get their hands on this?
It's only the strings, but it sounds like it was quite the amazing song.

God this release is fckin sweet....GOOD GOD one can only imagine what his vault contains. Firstly Eye Records must be weeping with this leak, hope this trend continues
Sister outtakes are so pure and friggin cool, its Prince stripped right back, completely raw LOVE IT. High Fashion...cant stop bobbin my head to this track. Nothing compares 2U, I think I died listening to his voice on that one....WOW...was never a fan of Rosie Gaines on the other version. This is now my fav.
Still listening to the rest...

I see where you're coming from. I respect that.
As far as "New Position", one thing that came to mind was Wendy (or Lisa?) talking about how Clare had orchestrated almost every song and had Prince not cut a lot of that stuff out, it would have been more like Prince vs. Clare Fisher, not Parade. It became too much. Hearing "New Position" I can hear that argument, yet I love that it's there. Too much, yet lovely as it exists. I think it would have been quite interesting to have an alternative version of that album with all of Clare's stuff, yet most of Prince's vocals taken out.
It's hard to hear, but some of OHWU sounds like orchestrations used elsewhere. Not surprised if they were.
Someone mentioned Prince recycling. I think it's more interesting to hear just how cohesive, yet entirely different, Prince's music can be. The "Rave Un2" lead line in "The Max" is a great example. The strings for "Big City" or "Baltimore" (or another?) that he shifted two beats or measures to make it sound totally different. I just love that level of creativity.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

one setlist had it listed as longer but it is the same length as that looped fake... but if they have NC2U maybe they have this too! "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

Just strings, and they are epic. Prince mentioned this song in an interview, that it was part of the new minneapolis sound he was creating, with Baltimore being the first example. The major ingredient of this new sound was him doing a guitar on a good portion of the song, and then having it completely replaced by orchestration, just like Batlimare was (we got 2 versions, one before, one after).
I can only assume the strings here are pentially part of the orchestration that was his guitar solo. This gives me hope that we may get to hear this song in its entirety along with other new stuff one day.

I was not aware of the looped one. That would be a massive letdown if that’s what they have. The track list of BOTP6 has it as clocking at 3’10. But as you said, they had NC2U. I always believed that Prince’s vocals had been erased when they were replaced with Paul and Susannah’s, so that’s been a nice little surprise! [Edited 12/4/17 13:51pm] |

Also "Feel U Up" (1986).
I'm curious to see what's different from the Camille version.
