I really think the song and the movie PURPLE RAIN were the reason Prinnce's favorite color was said to be purple. I remember a magazine article from paris back when he was filming UTCM, when prince did say that purple was no longer his favorite color, but nobody paid him any attention. i think he tried hard to get away from it when he made the black and white UTCM Go back before the PR song and movie. Did he wear anything purple back then? I don't think so.

There was a phone call that he had with George Lopez on his show once, in which he told George to let him bring the purple, because everyone always overdoes the purple, like the purple lights.

I think it is very believable that purple is not his favorite color, but he did use it to brand himself. It may have been his favorite color at one point. He was a creative man who was constantly changing. All of us go through phases of colors we like more. I have been through the black, teal, purple, green phases. I am now in a more coral phase. What is true is that we associate him with purple. I have no issue with the idea that apples were not Jobs' favorite fruits ...

He didn't have to be Catholic to understand it's significance - especially back then.
