I don’t disagree, but considering the type of artist that Prince was, I wonder whether he ever felt that it had become a bit of a cliché. Considering the variety of looks and themes that he adopted over the years, the overwhelming association with purple is probably as much a product of public perception as anything else.

There is a photo from the Superbowl with the orange cloud in the case. It is on display at Paisley Park now, but not in the SOTT room. The cloud from SOTT was peach, which they are selling. They aren't selling the orange one.

I know a lot of people on here aren't really interested in the spiritual side of Prince, but I agree with your comments. Mark 15:17 "And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head".

Purple did become synonymous with Prince, probably due to Purple Rain and due to his name "Prince" since purple is the color of royalty. However, that never meant it was his favorite color, but it was great for marketing purposes if people associate, not just a name, or a song, but a color with him. I can accept that. But whether his favorite color is orange or purple, I have to ask: how in the world do you take a topic as innocuous as his favorite color and turn it controversial?

I totally believe it. We wore a lot of Orange. Orange was also my Dad's and Frank Sinatra's fav color as well!

Mine happens to be Purple. Always was.

Not sure how much of this is the siblings trying to drum up publicity, and how much of it is the websites looking for clickbait headlines... but this seems like a real silly thing that's getting a weird amount of attention online. It's associated with him to an iconic level - to the point an industry leading color space only just designated a shade in his honor. The woman is clearly Prince's closest relative: she's got the same complete lack of business savvy.
