As a sports "hymn", it's quite good.

It's EXACTLY what it should be, IMO. It's not a rock, R&B or anything else.

I think Purple & Gold is what it was meant to be . . . a fight song.

His worst songs are anything with Tony M on it, especially Dadd Pop, Push, etc. I saw the Call the Law video the other day and it was like a SNL skit.

That album has Arms of Orion on it! I mean come on! The crazy badass harmony vocals when he says "Everytime you do me" are a high point of that whole disc! (I like AOO too haha just saying that Lemon Crush is much better than that song imo)

I love a good "opinion" thread! One thing I love about it is, there is no right or wrong answer, it's simply an opinion.

In my humble opinion, I found myself listening to an album once, and then placing it lovingly on the shelf with the rest of my collecion. However, I would always go back and revisit it, and it turns out, Prince was introducing me to a different style of music. He was expanding my horizons without even knowing it. Now I have an appreciation for jazz music (for example) thanks to PRINCE.

Purple & Gold would be a track I would skip, not a fan of that one. However, I might need to go back and listen to it, perhaps I can expand my mind again.

Pope is great! A bit silly but great nonetheless. Purple & Gold achieves what it sets out to do so I don't think it's his worst.

His worst is something so plastic and forgettable off MPLsound or Musicology that I don't even remember it exists.

Although Graffiti Bridge could give them a run for their money alright

If its a football anthem he was going for,he should've made a song that was upbeat and rock like "let's go crazy" or "endorphinmachine". I can't imagine the vikings running out to the field with " purple and gold" blasting f rom the stadium speakers at all [Edited 2/22/17 12:14pm]

That's certainly what people were expecting but instead he gave them an anthem that sounded like something from 100 years ago. Do you interrupt the National Anthem when it's playing to complain that it doesn't sound like Endorphinmachine? It was an utterly bizarre move but hey, since when did he ever do as expected.
