A proper documentary without that useless impersonator would have been much better. These dramatisations ruin the whole thing. Lol people really shouldn't take the acting so literally it's representative, the guest speakers and live footage is brilliant, as is the narrative.

I feel dirty watching it but can't look away. It's focusing on his tragic childhood, control and loneliness as opposed his art and positive drive. It's not exactly uplifting. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

The dramatisations are completely unnecessary and embarassingly cringe-worthy. Apparently Prince vanished after 2004 and was seldom seen. Except he was touring constantly, what a lot of shit. He only reappeared in 2015 for the grammies. Now we're getting to the drugs section...

This is beyond terrible. Factually incorrect in a lot of instances but what is worse if you were wanting to get to know about his music you would get no inkling from this. Embarrassing Live life and be happy

A lot of amateur psychology going on, hilariously bad drama scenes, and badly researched tabloid type "info." Classic Channel 5.

Motherless child? Tuneless and clueless. And now they are lying about his tour and the plane landing. Disappointed with Alan Leeds with his contributions.

Lol, the chopsticks scene at the end sounds like it was played on a bontempi kids keyboard.

lust said: It's shit. Still crying now though. Yep, that's fair. It was just 50 years of all that was Prince's life presented as a 90 minute tragedy. A really depressing narrative and how the Unchain my heart scene didn't end up on the cutting room floor beggars belief. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Chris Moon is full of shit, Pepe is probably good hearted but will pop up on anything for the appearance fee and Paul gambicini has no link to Prince and no real insight. Neal whatshisname has dined out on his rolling Stone interview for over 30 years and has aged terribly and mica paris can sing but let herself down I thought. Terrible.

Typical trashy channel 5 documentary, the musical segments by the actor were absolutely the most terrible things I've heard. It certainly gave the impression that Prince was a wheelchair bound recluse after 2004! Awful. Interviewer: What's it like to be the greatest guitarist in the world?
Clapton: I don't know, you'd better ask Prince

Yes, ure right Pepe; we all had love 4 him, he didn't deserve to die alone

Ok, so not the most perfect portrail of someone but not the worst either. . Sadly in film making people look for a hook. In this case it was Prince's loneliness and demons. . I for one don't believe that to be true and to say he had a six year hiatus was also untrue, but to the casual listener Prince hadn't made an album since the 90s. . Personally, I would have kept to the facts and made this a celebration of his music and legacy as well as documenting factually his last few days - however that in itself would be an editorial bias. . So take from this doc what you will - or just leave it. .

Come on, all of those folks have relevance to his story whether you like them or not, dismissing them all seems a bit silly. I saw it completely differently to you, I thought they all came across very well with valuable comments. But then again I'm positive by nature.

Absolutely terrible.
Reductive, weaving a false narrative that kept banging on about his "demons" every 10 seconds, got basic facts wrong and the acting was hilariously bad. Plus, the poor taste of recreating the elevator scene. |

Exactly the kind of rubbish that I expected, but some of those performances were unimaginably awful (almost laughably so). I'm really tired of Prince being cast as some kind of tragic figure. His death was certainly tragic, but for me his life and art was triumphant. The mediocre seem to relish misinterpreting brilliance. “He was an creative genius, but what's it worth if you're alone?”. Really? Prince deserves a serious and thoughtful documentary by a decent director that explores his cultural and artistic impact (something along the lines of Scorsese's “No Direction Home” ). A director like Steve Mcqueen maybe? (“Hunger”, “12 Years A Slave”, intelligent, also a fan). In any case, hopefully someone with talent and taste will tackle it eventually.
