The old thread is going into retirement, so here is another thread to invite participation for the poll where I will count down our collective Prince songs. We're up to 28 ballots so far, but I know we can do much better! The more participation we get, the more representative the final list will feel. One of the great things about Prince's fanbase is that we all have such different opinions about what his masterpieces and hidden gems are.

April seems to be an appropriate time to celebrate Prince's music with this countdown, so the plan is to leave voting open until April 1st.

I have copied below some information regarding how to participate along with some helpful links for those interested in the poll. Do not hesitate to ask any questions!

How to participate

1. Access the master spreadsheet from https://docs.google.com/s...sp=sharing
2. Make a copy of the spreadsheet where you can enter ratings. The link above is kept as View Only to preserve it from any unintentional edits. There are two ways to make a copy (see video in the “Helpful Links” section for a demonstration):
   1. You can make a copy as a Microsoft Excel file by following the menu items File -> Download As -> Microsoft Excel.
   2. Alternatively, you can copy the master spreadsheet as a Google Sheet by following the menu items File -> Make a Copy.
3. In your copy of the spreadsheet, rate as many of the listed songs as you like on a scale from 0 to 10, with 10 representing the most favourable rating and 0 the most unfavorable. You can get as precise as you’d like with ratings, so if you want to rate a song 9.99, feel free. Whether you vote for 5 songs or 1000 is up to you - any and all participation from Prince fans is welcome!
4. Once complete, send your list as an attachment to Princepoll2016@gmail.com. I will notify you after I have successfully incorporated your ballot into the results spreadsheet.
5. Periodically check for updates to the master spreadsheet, when new songs are added. See the “Spreadsheet Updates” section below for details of any updates that are made.

Some important notes

• For songs recorded by others that have circulating versions with Prince’s vocals (e.g. “Neon Telephone”), please consider the version with Prince’s vocals.
• For songs that have multiple versions (e.g. “U’re Gonna C Me” or “The Dance”), please assign a rating to the version you like best.

• The deadline for list submission is April 1, 2017. After all lists are collated, I will count down the list using the following point system:
• Points = (Average rating – 5)*ln(number of ratings + 1)
• Why this formula? It rewards songs with high numbers of votes, so we don’t have a situation where an obscure song with 5 ratings of a perfect 10 (say, “2045 Radical Man”) ranks higher than a song with 100 ratings with an average of 9.9.
• Feel free to share this link with any and all Prince fans you feel would be interested in participating.

It's a pure 10 for me. One of my all-time favorites. Love the energy and the hunger of the 1980-82 period in general, but it really jumps out of the speakers here.

I agree. It's a nice song, but not super special to me.

In other words Moonbeam wants you 2, "Please send all your (Prince song ratings) to me"

I wonder how well the newest edition to the official catalogue will fare?

Can't wait for the results, because its been a mighty long time.
