Sadly, no. But it is in the possession of some 'elite' collectors; therefore it is no rarer than, say, the average Blast from the Past x.x material at this point, which is likely the case for most of what is documented from the studio on PrinceVault. It's said to have an 'All Day, All Night'-ish spoken-rather-than-sung before breaking into the chrous approach to the vocals. It's also been alleged in Possessed, of all places, if I recall the source correctly, that P plays the harp on the song, but I believe it is the DX7, which he had just received a few weeks before (and inaugurates into his musical world on 'Love and Sex' and 'When Doves Cry'). It profits greatly from its close proximity in recording time to WDC (about 16 days later) in its wickedly effected/flanged Linn programming; he was still in the moment.
.

do u mean the 8:51 vocal version? its online ..if thats it
.
That is the May 1983 version. The rarity of rareties is the mostly uncirculating March 1984 vocal version; a full-length instrumental of that version widely circulates, however. |

I'm going by the tracklisting of the song, and it's called "Neon Rendezvous". I know it's the same song on Shelia E's album (The Glamourous Life) called "Noon Rendezvous", but everytime I enountered the version with Prince on the vocals it's called Neon instead of Noon. Lastly, I don't know how or why you're so confident on what WB would or won't add to the PR box set, since none of us (other than WB) has an clue to what gonna be added. (besides the remastered version of the PR album, which is an given)

To his credit, Neon Rendezvous is the the title of the bootleg (perhaps the most famous of them from back in the salad days) on which this rehearsal performance was to be found (a higher quality soundboard source of it has been more recently leaked).
.
To be realistic, this rehearsal performance would be obscure and of little consequence in P's and now the Estate's worldviews, and it won't be making the track list of official release in the foreseeable future, or (most likely) ever.
.
A pristine 24-track of it certainly exists in the Vault, however.
.
That detract from its breathtaking guitar work, nor that it managed to capture a perfect slice of the Purple Rain era and that 1984 time period in general.
.
It was most likely also videotaped, but not part of the [Big Chick-] leaked Warehouse black-and-white rehearsal footage for the Birthday Show, for whatever reason (held back by bootleggers, more than likely).
.

I work at a lodge in Livingstone, Zambia and last night I met a couple of WB employees (husband and wife) who were out here on holiday. We got chatting about the music industry in general and how they are trying to get to grips with streaming and new ways of montetising music etc. When I asked them about the PR release they went very quiet. They were contracturaly not allowed to discuss any musical releases on the horizon. Fair enough.
However, we started talking about the Org and they were very familiar with it, even addressing it as "the Org" and not as "that Prince site". They said that they were part of a team that were tasked with guaging Prince fans desires and wishes for upcoming releases just before AOA came out. They said there were other albums planned for rerelease, each accompanied by outtakes and/or a live audio (they didnt mention video). Their job was to find out what the fans most wanted. They have now moved onto other things and are dealing with merchandising of new acts, so they are not neccessarily the most knowledgable about all things Prince as things stand currently. But the husband was a bit of a fan, so he has kept his ear to the ground.
He said he was aware of this particular thread and the tracklisting and whilst he did not confirm or deny how accurate it is (or isnt) specifically, he did say that there are discrepancies with what is on here and with what will be released (as far as he has heard). The only tidbit he offered me was that some fans whose suggestions and wishes he has seen on this thread will be very happy indeed.
When I asked them why PR wasnt released after it was initially announced a couple of years ago, all they offered was "Prince was very difficult to tie down". I also asked them about where WB currently stands with Prince music, they said that what Prince agreed with them when he was alive, still stands today. Meaning? They would not (or could not) ellaborate.
So all in all, they were very tight lipped. Were they genuine? They had no reason not to be. If they were bullshitters they would have surely fed me with bullshit. As it was, they seemed knowledgable about Prince (the husband more so) and knew about the Org, so they had every opportunity to bullshit if that was their desire.
So from the conversation and reading between the lines, I would say this tracklist is sort of accurate but with a few omissions (fan favourites?) and additions that will not be on the release.
Anyway, thought I would add an extra pinch of salt to the pinch of salt. |

We willl see. My dream set would be the remaster and a disc with all the versions of the songs before they were edited down to fit on vinyl like the longer end on Take me With U, The Beautiful Ones with the extra verse, Computer Blue obviously, Darling Nikki with that little extra bit in the middle. All these versions have been widely bootlegged so and official release of these would be nice. and of course the B-sides like 17 Days extended.
Honestly if non of these tracks are on the Deluxe version than that would disappoint me to no end.
Something along the lines of Nirvana's 4CD super deluxe edition or even better Soundgarden's Superunknown 5CD remaster release is the least something like and album of Purple Rain's stature at least deserves. But my guess is we'll never get that with the estate having all that stuff and WBR probably has limited access to these recordings. |

People from Warner Brothers and Paisley Park and Universal OUGHT to be making contact with some of the real experts and ask them! Then need to know what songs are known or not known, where the interest is! What liver shows are out there and what shows are not!
as to this post by Rebeljuice: interesting that this track list seems to indicate audio and not video as did they! Now I DO Want an audio of the concerts too! (well i will listen to them more than i would watch a video) but I damn sure want a video! "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

Even though WBR and Susan Rogers say they will do their best and take their time with it to get it right, the upcoming release just will not suffice to hardcore collectors or archivers ... WBR can only release what they have themselves (on conditions) or were given for release by Prince... WBR has a shit ton of unreleased audio and video material but only they and Prince's estate know what Prince's deal was with them about those recordings and if those reverted back to Prince a couple of years ago or not... For all we know Prince's estate could be the only ones who have the right to give the go ahead for a definitive 20 disc "Purple Rain" boxset (without any live material, which should be released separately) but since it's amateur hour over there and the fucking vultures are moving in for cash grabs, don't expect anything worthwhile from them other than Tamboraccas, shitty replica guitars and other amateur merchandise no self respecting Prince fan would want from an artist who was about the MUSIC... Once they get their shit straight (which will probably take a decade or two) and hook up a with a company that specializes in archival releases (WBR has a shit record in those so another concern regarding this release) and gauge fan expectations and research the bootleg markets (like Zappa did) than it will get interesting... For now just enjoy the half assed release you're getting and wait until a real respectful (of Prince AND his Fans) release gets compiled...
Or maybe gets released for free as a bootleg addendum...

But the only thing Prince gave WB was an remastered same version of the Purple Rain album. Prince repeatedly said this. He said this in interviews and on twitter. This was probably why WB didin't release it because it was an breach of their agreement. After Prince left this earth, now we're hearing about it finally being released with unreleased tracks. I'm saying all that to point out WB has the rites to the 80's masters of his unreleased and released music during the 80's. They will... When Frank Zappa was alive he researched his bootleg releases... What ZFT does now is just release what Frank dumped in his vault without the research he himself did... And, well, even though a decade or two is mere speculation from my point of view, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it would take that long... If it doesn't take that long then we can probably expect releases with <insert any current piece of shit non-talented hip "artist" name> pissing all over it just to make money...

I heard that track when one of the DJs did an interview with Jill around last year and he was playing songs that feature her. I think it was when she was promoting her own dance album shortly before Prince died. I hope someone else on here might have a better memory of the interview info. That was the only time I heard that track to this day. I wished it was included in the PR movie.

I think it was when she was promoting her own dance album shortly before Prince died. I hope someone else on here might have a better memory of the interview info. That was the only time I heard that track to this day. I wished it was included in the PR movie. I wonder where that came from. Someone asked Jill on twitter recently if she had that track and she replied no. Maybe she was lying though 😜 |

No I dont think she was lying. I heard the track when the DJ/host played the song so the DJ had possession to it not Jill. [Edited 3/9/17 12:16pm] |
