take the 12" versions start, the "Paisley Park", put it in an audio program, reverse it and you will hear "Love is here" clear as day. (unlike the controversy song, where I did not hear anything playing the entire song back)

.

Paisley Park is special anyway. It is especially clear in the ATWIAD music book where it is written down in music notation. The song is mostly symmetrical, meaning, the music notation is the same forwards as backwards, for large parts. The song has forwards/backwards all over it, like much of the ATWIAD, such as the song Girl, with lyrics for "Boy" being recited backwards by Wendy.

I've read that it was Vanity's vocals on the backwards part in "Girl", does anyone know what she is saying?

"boy you excite me so..."

Thank you. biggrin

it's french. It is a child saying something like "little children that pray to go paradise" followed by someone saying "thank you"

oh no that is between mountains and do u lie

It sounds like french, like a countdown or something. a little like the chant they did at Mary's party...

Satanic Messages??? I was 10 years only when I first heard Prince's music (1979). At that age I realized his music sounded different from anything else on the radio and he was different from other artists at that time. The high heels and bikini shorts, his hair, lyrics and album art work. When I played controvery backwards and, from what I recall, other songs on that album, I thought I could hear stuff like "satins children" and other "scary words/phrases."

Thought it was more a publicity stunt at the time. For example, 1999 and turning the album upsidedown and it seemed to show a downward arrow with "666" The artwork that had a ladder that seemed to be going down into hell. Always felt he was directing us to play his stuff backwards, which at the time seemed to be something that crazy rock groups did (ozzy osborne) for the purpose of finding satanic lyrics. Just seemed wierd to me. neutral

Backwards speech in the unreleased version of Around the World In a Day:

"Very brave ?, People came from miles around, from England, from Pakistan, from Afghanistan, from ?, Tibet, Iran, Iraq, from Egypt, from North (?)...to this small village of love, to touch, to taste the woman"
Followed by something about the "enemies of the village" and "sliding"

Sounds like its taken from a play or a film, i'd love to know what.

She's crying backwards tape in purple rain:

"Noo!, I dont want to got to hell, I want to go to heaven...I dont want to go to hell"

spoken by a female, Jill or Vanity maybe. Taken from the second coming film? or maybe a deleted scene from purple rain

The church I went to as a kid did the whole "Stairway to Heaven" thing backwards, as well as Pink Floyd. The thing is - you don't hear anything until someone says "Listen for __________", then you suddenly hear it. A lot of bands have purposely put stuff backwards, but no one's taking the time to hail Satan in it all.

Although, Black Oak Arkansas purposely said weird things on their Raunch n' Roll Live album like "nah-tas" and "dog seh eh", so when played backwards said, "Satan, he is god", or something equally dumb.

"eye don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."

What if when playing one of Prince's songs backward, he included a will!!!! Such a wild thought but kind of makes you wonder.
