Never, unfortunately. A co-worker and I were going to see him when he came to Chicago a few years ago, but the concert sold out before we could get tickets. We were not especially happy about that. Okay, I think we kinda sulked for a day. lol

I imagine myself inside your bedroom; oh, I imagine myself in your sky.

This came up a year or so ago.

I worked through the gigs I'd attended and came to a spot on 250, but I might be out by one or two either side. There are some that have been more than me, but I'm not sure who's still on the org (the Italian girls from the 80's/90s sure wooped, I don't know where they got their funds!).

That is, in fairness, just incredible. What was your earliest/latest? Would you just go see most of a tour where possible?

I became a fan with the masses at Purple Rain, but had to wait until 1986 to see him live, when he came to the UK. I had just got my first job working part time behind a deli counter at the time, with no ties, so I could earn some money, and then backpack around Europe following most of the gigs and aftershows from 86, 87, 88, 90, 92, 92, 93, 95.

I only missed a few when I had to get back to earn more funds. I also used to get most of the tickets cheap. For example, I went to all 19 Nude tour London shows, but only had advanced purchased tickets for two shows. On the other nights, I used to hang near the touts/scalpers, and wait until the last moment to approach them. When the lights when down and the crowd screamed, they would normally give up and go home. They would often bin their unsold tickets or let you have them for £1-£2. I used that tactic a lot.

Even when I had a much busier full time job in later years, I based time off round tours across Europe and sometimes the States.

Although I racked up the first 150 or so in the 80's / 90's, I still stayed with him through the years , going to 12 of the 21 nights in London and 10 aftershows, following the 2010 tour across much of Europe and going to all but two of the 3rdeyegirl European shows.

Furthest I went was Rock in Rio and US west coast. Biggest regret was not seeing the Piano & Microphone tour. The only tour I missed from 1986. I was waiting for it to come to Europe.

My biggest regret? My mom!!!!!!! So...the first opportunity I had to see Prince was in March 1983, the 1999 tour in San Diego (I can still remember the radio commercial!). I was only 9 years old, and my mom said, "He's too nasty...you dont need to see that!" My older brother and sister went, along with my cousins, but I had to stay home. I actually cried in my room, then felt like I was actually at the show when my brother and sister came home and filled me in (I can close my eyes right now and still see my brother showing me The Time's dance moves).

-

Next up was February 1985, Purple Rain tour in Los Angeles, I was 11 years old. We lived in San Diego, but my cousin in LA had tickets to one of the shows. I dont remember what day it was, but it was a school night. My cousin was going to drive down and get me, take me to the show, then drive me home the next day. Yeah, I would have missed two days of school...but I was a straight A student, working Independent Studies in the gifted and talented program...I would have been fine, but mom said, "I dont want you to miss school." Oh, I wanted to KILL her!!!!! She bought my Lovesexy and Act I tickets (she paid over $200 to one of those ticket "agencies" for me AND my girlfriend to go to the Act I show), but I still havent forgiven her for 1983 and 1985. disbelief

Only 5 times. Should have been 25. Saw Lovesexy, which was when I think he was taking his performance ablilty to the next level, and was on his way to becoming one of the greatest live acts of all time. Great concert! Sixteen years later, he did it again as a flawless veteran with Musicology.

3 times. the 1st 2 times, obviously, when Prince was red-hot & rising:

.

Richmond VA (Coloseum) Jan 1982 - CONTROVERSY TOUR

The Time - Zapp featuring ROGER - PRINCE

.

Richmond VA (Coloseum) Feb 1983 1999 "triple threat" TOUR

Vanity 6 - THE TIME - PRINCE

.

Washington DC (Verizon Center).. eh.. maybe Sep 1997???

Prince Larry Graham Chaka Khan

Prince was always a great showman. worked the crowd effortlessly & flawlessly.

as GREAT as he was in those 1st 2 shows I saw..

after those shows more people were talking about THE TIME..

I am so jealous, LOL!!! lol

.

funkaholic.. those shows WERE GREAT.

people back then talked about those shows like the big events they were then.

Prince was supposed to do 1 or 2 shows on the purple rain tour too

but the DC area shows sold out very very quickly; they kept adding Capitol Centre (DC area) shows until those shows cancelled the scheduled Richmond stop on that tour.

initially they said they would reschedule for Richmond, but the PR tour never made it through central Virgina

I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..
