How about FunkNRoll AOA version? It's a modern, upbeat, catchy, party track and has hit written all over it. It may serve to remind people of songs like Kiss and 1999, the kind of party songs that the general public loved and came to expect from Prince. A song like Way Back Home is more of a fan favourite than single material imo. It's quite sombre and reflective, and the general public generally don't go for that kind of thing, at least in terms of chart hits. I personally think FunkNRoll AOA version is a far better choice and could've been a massive hit if promoted properly and given a video when the album first came out.

Funknroll has received a lot of attention from the start of the campaign, and it is now number 15 in our list out of 89 songs! Now why does the intro of this song remind me so much of Roger Glover & Guests - Love Is All (1974)???

In FNR, the problem is that Prince's voice is unrecognizable to uninitiated ears. At first listening, the song is terrible.
Way Back Home is, I think, single material. Makes me think of Rihanna in the chorus !

It's not that bad I'm not so keen on the AOA version but the Plectrumelectrum version (with 3rdEyeGirl) is really cool!
Any members of The Orange Park out there? We need a German speaker to post an announcement on their website to let their members know about our campaign. Please message us privately and we will let you know what information & links need to be posted.
Please feel free to share, like and retweet your favourite songs from amongst our Facebook and Twitter 'picks of the day' as a percentage of it is taken into account.
'Empty Room' (from 'C-Note') is another one of these poignant amazing songs (like 'The Love We Make') that are unavailable to officially download - at least not anymore: it was made temporarily available in 2015 but only through the NPGMC, so was never eligible for the charts. I personnally think it even deserves its own release!
Electric Intercourse is great too, let's hope it will be included.

Agree with you on all counts, Cherry...Prince really did march to the beat of his own drum, didn't he? Amazing songs never having a chance to soar in the public domain...I believe him when he said that, to him, the success was just having made the song - not seeing it in the charts. Of course, for us mere mortals, it matters that others should hear his magnificence!
I'm an 'Empty Room" person myself. A song that sends chills! My other one is 'One Night Alone'...goosebumps!

I absolutely this track, especially the piano part in the middle.
I very much doubt this would be a charts favourite but I sure enjoy listening to it in the quiet privacy of my own space...
This first stage is only meant to give us an indication of what the most popular songs are amongst the early participants and is based on a point system.
When a song is suggested for the first time, it is entered on the list (using Excel) and allocated an initial point. It then gets another point each time it is suggested by another participant. When the song fits the criteria (ours and the Official Charts) or when it has at least 5 points (meaning the minimum level of interest has been reached) and it fits the criteria, it gets to be highlighted on our Facebook and Twitter pages as a 'Pick of the Day'. From that βhighlightβ more points are attributed towards the title as follows:
10% of the number of likes (rounded up to the nearest tens),
1 point per βshareβ or βre-tweetβ
1 point per comment mentioning an interest in the proposed title
These extra points are only added over a period of 24 hours
For example βWay Back Homeβ initially got 17 votes and scored 16 extra points from the FB highlight and another 16 from the Twitter highlight, amounting to a total of 49 points. βNothing Compares 2 Uβ initially obtained 12 votes, and scored 30 extra points on a FB highlight and 5 points on the Twitter highlight, amounting to 47 points.
This not only gives me a chance to verify the interest for a song but also helps me comparing how the most popular songs rank against each other.
As said above, this is is only designed to guide us in our choice of the final 4 for the poll and we reserve the right to leave some songs aside if they do not correspond to one or more of the criteria (including that of the Official Charts).
I hope this answers your question and helps you understand the scoring sytem better. Please feel free to comment or even bring your own suggestions.
Just a reminder that you only have *9 days left* to post your song suggestions. You can do this either by posting a comment on here or on our Facebook / Twitter pages.
*MANY THANKS* to all of our very active participants and to anyone who has been contributing in their own way (y'all know who you are π)
The time has come to get this ball rolling... Please share this π all you can & see how far it goes! Come on y'all let's get ready for April! βοΈπΈ
The song pick of the day today is 'Let's Go Crazy'. Please remember that you have until Tuesday 31st January to send us your votes/suggestions for the song you would like Prince4Everyone to support and try to make it enter the charts (worldwide) in April.
The winning song will then be purchased/downloaded/streamed by everyone supporting this campaign prior to the charts coinciding with 21/4 all over the World.
Note: Should 'Let's Go Crazy' be the selected song, we will confirm which version is to be downloaded (i.e. original album, Deluxe edition or 4Ever), depending on which one is the most widely available when the campaign goes 'live'.
Tomorrow (Tuesday 31st January) is the final day for sending your choices/suggestions for our April campaign.
You can do so either in a comment in this thread or under the post at the top of our Facebook page or on our Twitter wall (see all links in our signature below). After this, a selection process will take place through a poll - published on 4th February - which will include 4 songs from the top 10
(the 10 most popular songs amongst our participants).

Two final polls - consisting of 4 tracks picked amongst the top 10 - will be published on February 4th. One on Twitter and another on Facebook (using an independent website, the link will be posted here too).
Many thanks to all of those that have participated, commented, shared and positively contributed towards Prince4Everyone. Y'all have been fantastic!!! π π π
The others tracks already charted. Everybody already knows Purple Rain.
.
ADORE is way too long, and the short version is a butchered one.
Going by the announcement that Prince's music is appearing on streaming sites from Feb 12 (but only Warner Bros music for the timebeing) and if we want to take advantage of the streaming availability then I think it should be a Warner release.
