wow.
I love: NEWS CNote The Rainbow Children, too. and all the jazzier discs. NEWS is remarkable.
Guess I'm not shocked by the responses though.. I like verything. Some discs I am lukewarm on but have given them new looks after his passing and have found gems in everything.
I think his weakest discs are his contractual ones Chaos and Disorder and The Vault Then there's that first one. For You, kinda weird but has some good shit on it. I used to hate the second one, Prince, but when I saw him do When We're Dancing Close in Portland in 2013, I started listening to it again and love it all over again. Especially the second side.
He could have trimmed fat off of the Hit and Run sets and made one solid disk. The same with the Rave Unto\Into thing he did. New Power Soul has one good song on it.. Wasted Kisses.
These are my thoughts on opiates.

I'm probably going to receive a lot of flack for this, but I have a hard time getting into 1999. I have to force myself to listen to the whole thing. The album, as a whole, isn't my cup of tea. -- There are only 2 songs that I really love on the album--LRC and Free. There are two personal taste issues that I have with 1999. First, I'm not a huge fan of the way that the synthesizers sound on the album. Second, so many of the songs are really long. On Let's Pretend We're Married, for example, the first 30 seconds is the same exact thing over and over again. Then in Lady Cab Driver, the first part of the instrumental break is a bit drawn out for my taste, and I'm not a fan of how the synthesizers and guitar sound. I don't think the issues with how the synthesizers sound is unique to Prince's work; a lot of songs from the early 80s have similar sounding synthesizers. Also, of songs 4 to 11, only one is under 5 minutes (Something in the Water). Perhaps it's just that I'm not used to hearing so many long songs back to back to back, but I have a hard time getting through the last half of the album. -- I think it's an important album artistically and it was groundbreaking as well. I think, overall, my issue is that 1999 is, for the most part, just not my cup of tea. Live 4 Love ~ Love is God, God is love, Girls and boys love God above

Rainbow Children was the best Prince album ever! Until he did that whole Hallmark Channel Digital Garden wailing, then we couldn't take it seriously - it's the symptom of a musician channeling satellite TV self help channels. A man in conflict sniffing flowers until his funk lands and excuses the mess the spaceship has made on the way in. i wish i'd never kissed your lips, bearded lady
