Make Moonbeam Levels a single! Hope the family has their shit together with this Godlike tune we all know and love and want the general public to know what we know. Moonbeam is the greatest song ever, not just from Prince. And it has stunning lyrics. Hoping the idiot critics get it.
Do you all think it could become a hit? It sure deserves it. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Do you all think it could become a hit? It sure deserves it. Agreed. To be honest and I know it sounds awful but I think loads of his tracks could be hits without Prince in the way. God I've listened to so much leaked stuff in the Las few weeks and I feel like a 12 yr again. Can't believe tracks like our destiny, open book even gold nigga. God this stuff is amazing. They need to start curating properly. Prince must be the first artist to not only after death sustain a reputation but have a chance to start a nee career. Loads of this stuff is better than his hits

The lyrics reflect Prince's approach to everything. He tried to write a novel but he didn't know where to begin? Of course not. He isn't a writer. Kamasutra with the NPG Orchestra? Of course not. He isn't a classical composer and has not raining therein. Jazz albums? Not hardly. Smooth jazz is not jazz. Just because you're really good at a pretty decent handful of song forms and styles doesn't mean you're an expert on EVERY style of music. Nor does it mean you know anything special about politics, religion, literature, and/or art. Arrogance leads to exposing yourself before mastery is acheived because you believe your own press and don't think you have to work at anything anymore. That's the reason for so much personal and artistic failures. Very brave and genius-infused lyrics, indeed.

Having said all that, Moonbeam Levels is a fantastic song and should most certainly be the focus. It's a great song, in fact.

I really like it too but charts wise I do not think it would go anywhere. Not sure if it's hooky/catchy for causual/non-Prince music fans. It might do well just for being new single released since his death.

Moonbeam Levels is one of his coolest unreleased tracks ever however its far from being a hit today and quite frankly never had the potential to be a hit.
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Good song but highly over rated here on the Org... From all the amazing songs and out takes from 1982... Moonbeam Levels in my opinion is not that "special".

"Head" would be the perfect single. It is no longer too dirty for radio/pop audiences and the concert clips are brilliant. Just enough edge to make it interesting.

I gave it to a former rock critic and he said it was fantastic. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Why? Certainly won't sell. Induce mass suicides? Thats much more likely. It's been stashed in the vault under copies of Carmen Electra outtakes and should stay right there where it belongs.

I think we as Prince fans are so used to hearing this song and other outtakes that we don't realize or take for granted how good some songs are. Imagine someone who has never heard this song before then imagine how you felt when you heard this song for the first time. I can't speak for anybody else but when I first heard this song it sounded so magical to me and I really think due to him leaving us and the fact that there isn't really any other songs out in this age of music that sounds like this that "Moonbeam Levels" would be a hit and I think this song would turn alot of people on to listening to Prince and becoming fans. I think alot of people don't know Prince does songs like these. They just think of him for PR,Kiss and LRC. I hope they release it as a single because this is one of my favorite songs and listening to the lyrics it's almost like a farewell song. It's also a hard song for me to listen to now. The industry has changed for the worst; it wouldn't be a hit in today's market. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

It wouldn't and could a hit in any market ever! It's just a crap song. Its been buried for good reason.

I agree. Why not release it? It's his best outtake, IMO, and a top 5 Prince song overall. Its themes would make for a rather touching single. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I personally think it's a hit potential and will definitely add it to the Prince4Christmas campaign (along The Cross) if it's released. 🌙

If Moonbeam Levels is an Album Only track, they would think about losing too much money as a single. Which is a shame, because they could just do a few multitrack remixes (instrumental, acapella, instrumental version, instrumental reprise...) and it would be great. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

I give it major props for being different and arty. Those are good things. But it's just not a track that is everyone's cup of tea. You either love it or hate it. It's not in any way shape or form a pop/rock/soul friendly track. Its it's own thing. Way out there. People have to at least see that much.

It's a great song. It probably wouldn't be a hit. It'd be nice to hold a physical single of it. Next!

life energy Ok I guess. But the sun is usually thought of the giver of life. The moon is lit by the sun, so moon beams are just reflections of sun bouncing off the moon. Poetic though? Yeah whatever. Its an arty song and I'll give it that.
