She almost made it without crying...so did I...I lost it when she lost it, but it's ok. He won and she did a good job accepting.

Clearly, if an award is being given for a record, and people who were actually involved with making that record are still alive, (they are) then they should be present to collect the award. Tyka didn't even have a cameo in the film.

In the big picture people are FAR more familiar with Appolonia than Tyka. Apples was in the movie after all. I'd be willing to bet money that until Prince passed barely anyone knew who Tyka was.

^ Perhaps, but at least she was there at the time. Tyka doesn't even make the footnotes in Prince's career.

Judging by the shots of the crowd I saw I doubt they'd know who Apples or The Revolution were either.
