Billionaires (literally, individuals worth a billion dollars plus) have private parties frequently and pay top dollar to whichever musician or musical group they want. And the paycheck is SO high, for a 1 night private easy gig, the musicians can't turn it down. The Rolling Stones just played their last US gig for a private/ invite only/ 200 people party $7,000,000 for 1.5 hour show billionaire who owns the Patriots football team. IMO, Prince did NYE on the yacht cuz he got PAID.

.

Yes, performing at private parties is very lucrative!

.

Prince performed at a private party at the White House not too long ago! I'm sure that was a hefty check!! eek

Well, the good news is that at least we're down to only about 3 or 4 of the same crazy, die-hard, conspiratorial minded Scooby Doo detectives "working the case" and the overall silliness seems to have waned. The bad news is, now we're into "The RUSSIANS did it!" and "There was a guy with a breficase!" and there's still been a bit of numerology, lyric deciphering and "hidden message" foolishness. Reaching.

MuleFunk thinks he's a prophet and there's A Game Going On because "the media" is conspiring to release news about Prince in accordance with new information about music. It's confirmation bias is all it is. Seeing what you want to want to see and confusing correlation with causation. It's like waving a stick of butter in the air to keep golden dragons from attacking and then using the lack of any golden dragon related activity or sightings of golden dragons as "proof" that waving the butter stick works.

Again, so some of you can reach acceptance and get on with and simplify your lives and thought structure while there's still time:

"Chemtrails" are bullshit
Vaccinations are good. They don't cause autism and you should vaccinate your kids
There is no Illuminatti

One thing with which I will take issue with Herb is his disparagement of 'lyric deciphering'.

Rather than make straightforward public announcements about his feelings / experiences / personal life, Prince himself tells us to read his lyrics because he is an 'open book' and they reveal a huge amount about his life.

To that end, I think there is merit in analysing his lyrics (and, occasionally, his performance ad-libs), especially when they're historically contextualised (ie examining what we know to be going on in his life at the point at which each particular song was written - or performed).

.

It seems to me that he used his songs as a form of journal - or at least an outlet for those things he felt he couldn't express any other way. I think if one refuses to consider P's lyrics as pertinent to his circumstances then one will miss out on a great deal...

Just my thoughts. smile

OK. I'll leave the three or four you to your circle jerk where "everything is not as it seeeemmmmss, man. I'm just ASKING QUESTIONS here..." and where the Illumatti, the doctors, WB, the Russians, Prince's entire family, his friends and the media are all consipiring together and pulling everyone's strings because Prince was just SOOOO dangerous to the establishment that They Had to Take Him Out and Silence Him. You know there's a reason the mods keep locking threads and have relegated and confined the die hard loonies who see clues in song lyrics and add up numbers of dates and shit like that to arrive at a "DaVinci Code" answer to Prince's unfortunate but perfectly explainable death, don't you?

It's to keep you in one place. And it's a good idea I think. It's like we've sifted and strained the big bowl of Prince fans that reacted to his death, posted here and, after cooking everything, we're left with maybe 10 people tops who stubbornly cling to this foolish horsehittery that the rest of us are just sheep who lack critical thinking, believe what "The Man" tells us, ust can't "connect the dots" and just "don't see the big picture, man... We live in the MATRIX, dude."

I mean, we seriously have people posting here who think that Prince was so much of a threat to "The Establishment" that he needed to get got. People who think there's a secret cabal of, like, 50 people that CONTROL EVERYTHING and that we're being dusted with chemicals to...um...make us crazy or something. Come to think of it, maybe it's fucking working if the shit I'm reading here is any indication because a lot of you come off as brain dead lunatics espousing opinions that would make Alex Jones sound rational. And people who won't vaccinate their fucking kids? Seriously, fuck you and anyone that doesn't vaccinate their child and sends him or her to school with MY son, you irresponsible, paranoid neglectful "parents".

I honestly didn't think these threads could get any more stupid, off the rails or beyond the pale until I read the dumb shit about "The Russians". I've been skimming them, taking a break and chuckling on occasion at the "OMG!!! What a REVELATION!" comments for a while now but, seriously, come the fuck on you guys. If you people REALLY blieve this bullshit, I don't understand why you're not rioting in the streets, bombing the Capitol building, hunkering down in a bomb shelter and/or eating the business end of a 38. How do you FUNCTION in day to day life believing there are monsters and spiders and demons and killers and thieves around every corner and that your entire life and means of gathering information or controlled by The Others?

Oh, wait...I just realized....What if...if...The MODS are in on it too!!?? In accordance with the Russians!? The org was hacked! Just like the election! We are through the looking glass here, people.

There are countless threads devoted to analysis of P's various song lyrics on this site. This is irrespective of anyone's personal theories on Prince's death. The reason for this is that there is an inherent value in examining them.
.
I stand by my previous summation: he himself told us to read his lyrics and see them, to a greater or lesser degree, as autobiographical.

.

I'm not sure why you would feel the need to include lyrical analysis as something essentially negative / fruitless. It has zero to do with conspiracy theories but all to do with understsanding the man and his life, as per his own instructions!
.
Also - and I hate to say this, particularly as you and I have exchanged perfectly civil and intelligent PMs in the past - your last post sounds almost deranged, lol! wink . I understand the need for us all to have impassioned rants on occasions, but I can't deny that I am concerned for your blood pressure. Float, Herb...Just float... biggrin

Exactly! If someone does not like the thread topic, it's very easy to just keep scrolling by!

.

I mean, for someone to actually scroll through all the comments, then give your analysis just for the sole purpose of criticizing other people's opinions just because they are not in-line with yours, along with putting blunt, general statements, and not fully engaging yourself in an adult conversation seems a bit strange, imo.

.

The way I look at it, if you don't agree with someone, just MOVE ON!! Don't try and force your opinions/ideas on other people. Live and let live.

Hi LBrent....did a quick search (how much does a guitar weigh?) and found this info here: https://answers.yahoo.com...929AAXlB3o

6.70 lbs Washburn WI66PROQ
6.75 lbs Epi Iommi SG
6.95 lbs Washburn WI67PROF
7.30 lbs B.C. Rich Bich SE
7.40 lbs Washburn WI64M3
7.50 lbs Jackson DK2
7.55 lbs Jackson RR3
7.85 lbs Jackson SL1
8.15 lbs Washburn WI66PROF
8.20 lbs PRS CU24
8.25 lbs BC Rich Warlock
8.40 lbs Jackson SL2H
8.40 lbs Washburn A5V
8.50 lbs Epiphone LP Plus
9.05 lbs BC Rich Beas

Can't guarantee the accuracy of those weights! Maybe someone else who is more knowledgeable about weights of various guitars can chime in?

While it might not sound like a whole lot of extra poundage, I would think it could affect the body after years and years....more so, perhaps, if you are built on the "slight" side.

I actually did a search before asking here because I don't play guitar and I didn't recognize the models I've seen written as P playing.

But I knew there are musicians who post here and figured they'd know if P's guitars specifically fell within the weights on that chart or if whatever stuff was in P's guitars to make them appropriate for professional use would make them heavier somehow in ways that I wouldn't guess.

But thanx for your help.

Hi LBrent....did a quick search (how much does a guitar weigh?) and found this info here: https://answers.yahoo.com...929AAXlB3o 6.70 lbs Washburn WI66PROQ 6.75 lbs Epi Iommi SG 6.95 lbs Washburn WI67PROF 7.30 lbs B.C. Rich Bich SE 7.40 lbs Washburn WI64M3 7.50 lbs Jackson DK2 7.55 lbs Jackson RR3 7.85 lbs Jackson SL1 8.15 lbs Washburn WI66PROF 8.20 lbs PRS CU24 8.25 lbs BC Rich Warlock 8.40 lbs Jackson SL2H 8.40 lbs Washburn A5V 8.50 lbs Epiphone LP Plus 9.05 lbs BC Rich Beas Can't guarantee the accuracy of those weights!

Oh, I understand. Makes sense to correlate the weight to a specific model Prince played.

You're welcome!

S'ok.

I also wondered if his pianos/speakers/risers were specially reinforced so they could withstand him leaping onto them/dancing on them/etc.

Especially considering that P's shoes had those metal bars reinforcing them to keep them sturdy as he did all that...the wear and tear had to be immense on the equipment even though he wasn't very big/heavy.

I never heard that he collapsed a piano or speaker or riser during a performance, but...

confused

That's interesting about the reinforcement in his shoes....never even considered the potential hazards, collapsing pianos/equipment, of each performance. Yikes, glad that never happened....would have been horrifying, for sure! For Prince and the concert attendees.

Exactly!

I didn't think about it watching P in concerts, but recently watching videos of him doing that stuff I find myself really noticing details like that and going...Hmmm...
