^ It's about people over-reacting to something before they found out what that something was.

You know when you go to a US "western theme" theme park/resturaunt?.. there is the inevitable "have your picture taken behind bars" bit?.. That's what this is but swapping out the bars for instruments.

It's what happens when you turn a legendary multi-million dollar & still state of the art recording studio into tourist attraction where people go to look at clothes Prince used to wear.

The problem with your western theme park analogy is that this isn't just another impersonal tourist attraction where you can stand behind a generic bar for a pic, it's about a PERSON. A real person who passed away 6 months ago, somebody whose fans are protective of his legacy. He was real, not a cartoon character. It upsets people when his things are disrespected because he was loved. You're making him sound like a mythical character.

This Prince! Not Mickey freakin" Mouse!!! eek

I have been to Graceland many times and you can't touch anything, much less sit on it. I wonder where the docents were to tell them to keep their hands to themselves. It is shocking to see people on his stuff!

I am glad that PP is going to do something about this. Yeah they need some security and banned people who don't know how to behave becuause Prince wouldn't tolerate this shit.

I also still think PP opening is too soon even though the estate need to make money because of the tax bill. They need more time to plan and get it right.

I have been to Graceland also. Like you said, you cannot touch anything, and that is how it should be at PP.

I think these limited tours were good in that management has gone through the experience, gotten feedback from fans and can use this to make it better in the future. Right now there are no tours available after Oct 23. I'm hoping there's a pause on tours for a while so management can use the time to fix what's broken and make the experience better.

Exactly. Some people need boundaries in order to behave themselves.

.

The museum chose this particular piano for "photo ops". Not even roped off. People being allowed to touch the piano - or even grope it. Prince had other "less valuable or historically relevant" pianos at Paisley Park that could be used for this purpose. One might call them "generic" pianos, which certainly belonged to Prince and were used for recording sessions, but that are not so irreplaceable.

Well I certainly don't lick Mickey Mouse's ears when I go to DisneyLand®.

I say let's impale him on the axe, that'll show him some respect.

It's probably not the original "Blue Angel", but even if only depicted the instrument is the stuff of legends.
Even Presley's achievements don't match Prince's one.
As much as I love Elvis, that's just the truth.
This is heavier than Graceland.

With Prince, we had the Blue Fairy AND the work ethos.
So the Leenie Krawytzes and all the other Prince Alberts dicks of the world better beware.

I don't approve of the museum, but that doesn't mean you can

that made every rock guitarist's jaw drop.

Comparing Paisley Park to a theme park.....

It's definitely not. The blue angel was a light blue. This lookes more like the guitar he uses in the Undertaker video... although it's obviously not that guitar or one he ever used... the ones he used had symbol fret markers... this one has dots. Replica.

Even Presley's achievements don't match Prince's one.
As much as I love Elvis, that's just the truth.
This is heavier than Graceland.

Agreed. But Graceland is running the show now. Spring 2017 comes the "Lovesexy Room"... so more old clothes and a guitar repainted to look like the one he used on that tour... how magical.

With Prince, we had the Blue Fairy AND the work ethos.

Fine. But understand... she stuck her tongue out in proximity. She didn't lick it... and he (Prince) likely never played that guitar.

OK, quick question... Is Paisley Park more worried about:

A) Finding an artist who wants to record their new album there?
B) Driving up visitor numbers?

I'd prefer that piano to still be in one piece by the time I get around to visiting Paisley Park and if everybody kept climbing all over it then I doubt that it would be. All this talk of replicas is redundant, we don't and likely won't know for definite if these instruments really belonged to Prince. Just because they may not exactly match any seen when he was alive doesn't prove anything either way. I believe it's only right to be cautious and respectful, not just to the memory of Prince but to others that wish to visit in the future.

What's also important to note is Prince's items need to be preserved, just like Graceland's meticulous care for Elvis's things. I was relieved when I heard that Graceland's company, who manages the day to day operations would be taken over, but I wonder if they are taking the preservation of the archives seriously.

I would like to know if things are indeed roped off?

Is flash photograpy allowed?

No photography is allowed unless you take the VIP tour, and they will take your picture and load it on a flashdrive for you.

Prince's family responded that they did indeed take this seriously and changes will be made, so they are quite concerned about it also.

I think that Prince's family will do right by us fans and preserve everything and they'll do right by the vault also.

There was an astounding exposition about Bowie a few years ago in Paris.
I don't know if it toured around the world.

The museum could be done properly. But it has to reflect the complexity of Prince.
Not the same enigmatic dude posing on giant posters, over and over again.
The cultural heritage is huge, and it doesn't matter of how little mainstream it went.
Clearly the guy who thought a guitar laying on a piano was better than a vase of flowers is a moron.

No musician would ever put a guitar pedestal on top of a piano.
PP has been hastily disguised for symbolica's galore, and you get the public you deserve:
Old farts going after the summer of 1984 who will buy a T-Shirt and some sodas, if I understand PP's business plan well.

Did anyone see the online shop?

Does putting out a boring compilation with just one outtake, thinking some gullible fan will buy it only because of Moonbeam Levels, is "doing right" with The Vault?

I wish Prince's family well, but the heck: whomever's in charge doesn't have a clue of who Prince was, and what people his fanbase is made of. They only dug he's a household name, and that's about the only value they seem to believe in so far. This little, sad, boring-already-existing compilation proves it.

So far no one cares about the art of Prince.
Only the persona. The idol.
