Well, I'm not too convinced that our Prince was concerned with his estate, otherwise he would have had a trust and a will. I believe he lived in the now and viewed death as merely walking through a curtain to a beautiful journey in eternity. I realize NorthStar has been hired by the estate-they are not the estate. However, I have had 5 different media sources in Minne tell me their contact was NorthStar, so clearly they are handling the organization/planning and press. Don't get be wrong, I have utmost respect for Londell. He is a brilliant man, both in law and business. I would want him in my court any day. However, Londell was handpicked by the estate to handle the music business end and Londell owns NorthStar, therefore he stands to gain a huge chunk of the profit of anything the estate uses him or NorthStar to plan, publicize or organze-which is okay. My take is that some of the older Prince affiliates aren't as comfortable with a corporate entitity handling their concerts. They're independent spirits-which heaven knows they learned by the side of the Purple Yoda.

OIC. At any rate, any way you cut it, Londell is poised to make a grip, and not just from this planned tribute. I respect him too, but I have my reservations.

Lastly, please give me a break. We're talking ONE Prince tribute concert that his family is trying to pull together. Nobody's asking them to sign an extended contract or anything like that.

I get the feeling Sheila and Londell are not best buds. When PP was on an initial list of property to possibly be sold Londell tweeted something about not to worry PP isn't going anywhere. Sheila responded to his tweet. I don't remember exactly what she said but it sounded like she offered some services and was rebuffed? Of course who knows what to think. I do believe Sheila's emotions are real and P's death hit her hard. I don't think she's faking that at all but I'm not crazy about her using P's love symbol to sell t-shirts and were it not for her association with P would anyone really care about seeing her in concert? In some ways it does seem like she's milking his death for her own personal gain.

She is no longer selling them. I know a lot of people feel like she is using his death but I really don't see it that way. She was approached by BET and the DNC for high profile performances. I've seen her in concert-without Prince, and she was fantastic. I think she's talented in her own right, but we all know he had a laser eye for talent. She's in a tough situation, along with Morris Day. It must be hard to break out of the shadow of Prince when you're pushing 60.

I've seen Sheila and Morris several times, separately. Sheila has always given tribute to Prince in every solo concert I've ever seen her in. She also had a successful career as a musician long before she ever met Prince. But, yes, it is hard for any of his associates to break free from Prince's shadow...at any age.

It's looking doubtful, but I haven't yet given up hope. Maybe they figure that, since P's fams are used to buying tickets with only a couple days notice anyway, there will be no problem if there is not much lead time to buy tickets and travel to MLPS. Still, one way or the other, they need to make some kind of statement.

yeahthat I like Sheila an dbelieve her emotions are genuine BUT to fairly PROMPTLY go ahead and get t-shirts made etc seems a bit like dipping her hand into the purple pot of gold. She could've been available for events and worked WITH the estate/LM/Northstar to make this a one night only memorable event for fams...but she's delibrately choosing a date that conflicts with the one people are still hanging their hopes on - she is delibrately making people CHOOSE and that isn't right.

Seriously though...WHO Tweets stuff like MAKE YOUR TRAVEL PLANS PurpleArmy - if it wasn't concrete that the event was going to happen?! Something is holding this up, it can only be the estate's dealings. Because as far as I feel like he pretty much confirms Stevie Wonder is IN, we have seen people like 3rd Ee Girl and the Time and Mint Condition state they will be at the U.S. Bank on Oct 13th...so what in the H.E.L.L. is going on?! disbelief pout

Right?!? If the protégés are not careful, Prince's fams are going to turn on them. What if no one buys tickets to their shows????

I met people like myself in Minnieapolis last week who traveled from other countries and we need lead time to book hotels and flights - and the stress of getting tickets ...this cant happen for us with a couple days notice...I hope they say something soon!

They are not even on sale yet. Apparently, there's not even a signed contract yet. All the tours to Paisley Park sold out within hours. Perhaps that's what's causing the confusion.

Whether it's conspiracy theories about Prince being murdered (he wasn't), or EVERY SINGLE person from his past is somehow ripping him off post death. Honestly, every single one of his bandmembers and proteges has the right to make money from the legacy of work they helped create and nurture... None of them are getting rich. So, how about everyone just tone it the fuck down with this CONSTANT NEGATIVE PROJECTION, eh?

Excuse me, but what makes you think I didn't read your message? That would not be a safe assumption. I did. I just have a mind of my own, so I don't need you to try to tell me what to do or how to think. Everybody does have the right to earn money, but why try to sabotage the estate's planned official show? That's what I don't like. And, no, I didn't like Sheila, on the one hand, telling the estate that it's too soon for PP tours, while on the other, hawking memorial t-shirts. I mean, why not just sell shirts with her likeness? She's still relevant enough for her shirts to sell, right?Apparently, for now, she has stopped selling the P. shirts, at least online. So, she must have been embarrassed when some of us called her on it. I wouldn't be surprised if she still quietly sells them at her shows, though. I read on her FB page that she sold out of shirts in Pittsburg at the Byham Theater, which has a seating capacity of 1,300. Imagine if you sell even 1,000 shirts at a venue that seats up to, say 5-10,000 people. At $30-40 a pop, you can make A LOT of money, fast. Do the math. And, that's on top of the booking fee.

yeahthat

This is why Prince fans can't have nice things.

The whole "oh, they're trying to make money off Prince's death" ideology is just ill-informed, and flat out stupid.

As if these people weren't touring endlessly anyway, and doing gigs? Were they greedy then trying to support their families? Why do you think people know who they are at this point anyway? PRINCE. If they throw "A Tribute" on something for a couple of nights, then who cares. Everyone was pissed about Madonna and the Grammys, but when his own people try to give something back to the fans (which the fans originally screamed for these folks to do "a proper tribute", now suddenly every other fam wants to pontificate about greed, and using his name. Not sorry that everyone else isn't going to lay down and stop their lives because Prince passed away. It fucking sucks that he's gone, we're all handling it the best we can. But as we all go to our 9-5ers, these folks still have to book a venue, get up on stage, and perform the same damn songs they've been singing for 32+ years, almost 2 hours a night to keep their lights on. Ain't no one got any Purple Rain money left at this point.

And don't even get me started on people trying to romanticize his death with "he knew he was going to die" or whatthefuckever lame-ass-pasta-on-the-back-burner-cooking-theory is the new one this week.

As JLC said, these folks were there, it's their lives too and their legacy. Yeah Prince wrote those songs, but if Prince had a problem with them singing them, they wouldn't be this whole time - decades later. So if Prince was okay with them playing his songs and making a paycheck, why can't everyone else chill the fuck out?

It's ironic that Prince stood for love and the truth, and half of his fanbase are hateful and indifference, and will believe a lie in a hot second. That is what's not pretty.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Why am I not surprised it all has gone to #@%& (pear shaped)? What a joke - its all been a joke from the start from rushed cremation to mis-information - so sad.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

It would have made alot more sense that Morris and Sheila would appear in Mn tribute. Oh well shrug maybe sometime in the future everyone associated with Prince will together in one place, and do the ultimate tribute.

From what is transpiring now, I'd say that there is too much ego for that to happen. And, truth be told, I think there is still A LOT of professional envy among some of his protégés and old friends whom he outachieved. Right now, it seems to me, many of them are ALL about cashing in. GREED is not pretty.

So true it's painful to see & sad that more of these so called friends are not speaking up for him with all the shit that's being said about him- too many are just all about themselves.
