I get your point but at the same time, I think a Celebration type event would have worked...maybe instead of a weekend it could've been 7 days. Prince had weeklong Celebrations and people flew in from all over the world for those (and admittedly, like everything else, concerts or any other kind of event, some people would have been able to come and some wouldn't have..there's no way to please or accomodate everyone and there will always be those left disappointed, it's unavoidable). For the Celebrations, some came for all week, some weren't able to be there the entire time and came for the time they could. I know we all have our own ideas about what would have worked best, or been best - but the more I think about a Celebration-type event, the more I like it and think it would have been far better than a one off concert with acts booked that either had no, or only a tenuous, connection to Prince and were mainly booked to put butts in seats and sell tickets - I too would love to know why the concert fell through, though. Seems like from the start this was gone about the wrong way and all the problems organizing it just snowballed until the snowball finally crashed into a fence and that was that. (also my baseless speculation is 'people behind the scenes' - and by that I mean whoever was mainly in charge of organizing this - made too many assumptions and presumed a lot...they put the cart before the horse, so to speak.

I think Morris Day and The Time are actually in Maryland on Oct. 14, but the booking date is confusing as listed on his Facebook. It lists two locations. I took a screenshot.

It's also incredibly odd that there isn't even an official spokesperson or channel for question -- there's no official event website or even an official PR agency fielding inquiries. It's basically just Londell's twitter account. The whole thing's so weird I'm happy that my trip to visit MPLS and go on the PP tour is not until the next weekend

I'm over all this. My trip is booked and if there's a tribute I will go If not, I'll still have a great time. All this back and forth is exhausting "Paisley Park is in your Heart"

It's a long time to be sad so long and then have to chase this event down all day every day on top of it. I'll still go if it happens and the plane ticket isn't $$$, but man, my heart is about done. If I don't get there, thanks for all your hard work on the first ave tour and have a great time. Say hi to P for me. It's so hard even to consider giving up. And the MUSIC continues...forever...

I am totally disgusted by this whole situation. If this is any indication of how Prince's estate will be managed, Heaven forbid. It's like someone is deliberately attempting to tarnish his legacy...AND to prevent the estate from being able to pay estate taxes. This is not just ineptitude. It takes SERIOUS WORK to create a fiasco of this magnitude. I mean, if this tribute doesn't happen, how can Londell (or Prince's estate) ever be taken seriously again??????

I'd love to know what happened. Something is seriously messed up. But at least no acts were officially announced and no tickets ever went on sale. I'll bet outside of local media and die hard fans this thing has been completely forgotten. But still if it's not happening the estate needs to say so. Paisley Park is in your heart

I'm not even going to Minneapolis, just following the developments because I'm hoping they will put it up on Pay For View or something, so my emotional investment in this is relatively little. But even I am exhausted by this. It's terrible that fams who are looking for closure after many months of sadness have been dragged through this ordeal "Dive inside your soul if U wanna know, the light inside the darkness forever glows" (Prince, 1958 - Eternity)

I agree this is a pathetic fiasco, but nothing has made sense or seemed well-organized since the moment it was announced Prince had passed. This latest mess is just another in a numerous amount of messes that have appeared in these last 5 months. I respect your opinion, but I personally don't go for conspiracy theories and I don't think this monumental screwup in regards to the tribute stems back to anybody trying to deliberately tarnish Prince's legacy or prevent the estate from paying its taxes - I think it's the result of people making presumptions, prematurely blustering and making announcements before they should have, and (and this is my own speculation of what's happening behind the scenes) too many people being involved, those people being self-involved and being concerned about doing it THEIR WAY and butting heads when instead they should have been putting their heads TOGETHER and focusing on what truly mattered, which was giving Prince the tribute he (and his fans) deserved. Plus, as another orger pointed out, it seems like there was really no one or no entity given the lead to be a spokesman, or a touchstone about what was happening -- it was all soooo scattered (info, I mean. and the 'info' was always mostly meaningless cryptic baloney or perhaps a FB post that said how great the tribute would be or hinted at stuff, but again, in the end gave no actual definitive information). This thing was a mess because people didn't get their shit together and they didn't work together. I don't think it's a strategically planned sabatoge of Prince's legacy. But again, that's JMO. I know we all have our own thoughts on it all.

They need an official spokesperson for the estate. Someone that the media can contact. Londell puts out stuff on Twitter every now and then but I'm not aware of him being an official spokesperson. Thankfully the PP Museum is being handled by professionals who have done this before. Their reputation (along with the city of Chanhassen) is on the line so I have more faith that won't be screwed up. Paisley Park is in your heart

Alls I know is this: There is a VAST fortune at stake. The value of Prince's masters and unreleased music is INCALCULABLE; however, if his estate can't pay the taxes, then they might just have to resort to selling off pieces of his catalogue, and you can bet that they would end up being sold for a song, no pun intended. Already, there were reports of a possible "fire sale" to pay taxes. People are sometimes quick to dismiss complex ideas as "conspiracy theories." But, sometimes things don't make sense by design.

We need to put the complexity of this estate and all of the legalities into perspective. No matter what happens, know this... The state of affairs of the tribute should in no way be associated with any lack of respect, love or appreciation of his fans by the family. There is an endless amount of love for Prince by everyone involved I'm sure. I know we all want this to happen, we just need to be patient. I'm sure we will hear definitive news soon. 💜

There is a complicated protocol the Estate has to follow when they attempt to enter into a business agreement. The potential heirs can file objections to potential Estate business agreements. It very well could be some of the heirs are not in agreement on how the Stadium Tribute should be handled financially and/or other issues with the Tribute. But who knows for sure because everything is so secretive in the handling of the Estate. Just saying.

In view of all the complexities and legalities, I just wish they had not made any announcement until: 1) There was a signed contract in hand for the venue;

Here's my thought. I really think it would be neat if we all could get together somewhere, even if it's the movie theaters that we already have reserved and try to play some of Prince's recorded concerts. There's bound to be some available somewhere. It would be neat to have one concert from his earlier days (1999 or before), maybe Purple Rain, and maybe the one where he's playing his piano. I would be thrilled to watch any or all of those. Do you think it would be hard to find any of his concerts recorded?

I will keep hope alive for one more day but am already trying to make Plan B for Thurs. Hope it works out but doubtful. Either way, I'm looking forward to coming, paying my respects at PP, meeting people and celebrating a life that meant so much to so many. We may not get a tribute concert, but HE has our hearts and souls. Not going to let disorganization a and chaos ruin it. P deserves better. Can't wait to celebrate all things PURPLE.
