Hooray for us middle age ladies! Girls, you all make me so proud to be my age right now!

Our main man was all that and so much more! I do call him Pimp Daddy when I see certain early photos of him, like in the fedora, white tank and stubble...oh yea, that's hot.

What I am trying to say is that, the power of "love" is strong and can be mutually beneficial or used as a weapon.

Our man taught us that we have the right to our feelings, thoughts and bodies - nobody "owned" us or had sexual rights with us....it had to include love and God. He demonstrated that love for us, to us...and yep, he did it nasty too!

That is part of the glorious thing - we can be nasty, we can be saintly, we can be motherly, or we can be the dominant in whatever WE wanted, whenever WE wanted. Who better to teach that to us than a man who seemed so secure with his own sexuality and power (at least on stage) instead of an insecure man who would put the brakes on our mighty train?

Besides he posessed a beautiful body and loved to show us ladies his "gifts", that yea, we deserved all that too and I am sure he would've obliged us.

Yaaaaaaas! I confess to referring to Baby Boy as a Pimp Daddy on occasion, too. But let me explain why. Men won't get it and neither will many women... In my way of thinking, women are more powerful by virtue of our sexuality. WARS have been fought over the poonani. Henry the 8th changed the religion of England from Catholicism and invented the Church of England to get into Anne Boleyn's drawers. Life comes through us, not to mention that after that happens we have "snap back" which allows us to carry on as usual. Men find our bodies intriguing and our scent intoxicating, for all that they try to shame us with comments about gravity getting to our boobs or the earthy scent of our fluids, they use every opportunity to crawl between our thighs regardless of how much cellulite. The sniff beneath our breasts or our bras after we come home and weigh our breasts in their palms no matter the droopage. We are powerful over them. They resent the power we posses. It makes them feel vulnerable. So they try every way they can to ignore it and repress our power. Adam wasn't strong enough to give up Eve. He could have, but he was drowning in the whirlpool of her power even after her sin. For every man who makes fun of our perceived physical shortcomings, there are other men waiting in line to adore that very aspect of us. They've put chastity belts on us while they went off to fight wars to keep other men away from us. They pay us for the privilege of simply watching us dance and they pay us with the hope of seeing the Promised Land at the apex of our core...either with their bodies or simply their eyes. They bow to our will. And even though Eve's sin caused our gender's punishment of craving them, they have always craved us...always. We make men feel some type of way about themselves by our very existence, even the men who don't want us sexually want to be either like us or, at the very least, near us. Men bask in us as if we are sunlight. They are confused by us, yet they gauge themselves by what they see reflected in our eyes. Our quiet disappointment can destroy them. We fascinate them. We are the exotic other. Even the plainest of us. Ever see a plain woman with a hot guy? He knew her secret power. Ever see a big fat gal with a hot guy? He knew her secret power. I could go on and on...women with beards, women with no legs, women with facial deformities...yet they have children. Some man recognized her inherent power. Not only conventionally beautiful women have power, theirs is simply easier to see with the naked eye, but Barbra Streisand and Gabourey Sidibe are sexy as f*ck. P knew femininity was powerful. That's why he borrowed it in performance and that's why he was drawn to it in his private life and that's why we are seduced by his legacy...even from the great beyond.

I both so agree with you and also, also... It is a kind of power, but it is not a simple power, nor one that actually gives us real power to do things as people in the world (being an exotic other isn't real power, its having the power of men's idealization, which is something else). As you say, they resent it, and they blame us for it...when it is their desire that they blame us for...and, and, chastity belts, their want of us is the reason for all the oppression and fear and violence that they do against us. They punish us because they want us...because it makes them feel weak, and needy and vulnerable, and things they think they are not supposed to feel because they are men. Desire is a scary thing, its a scary thing for all human beings...but they cannot take the repsonsibility for their own want, and make it our business, and with that comes a whole tsunami of fuckree. This is one of the reasons I like Prince, he was strong enough to say 'I want you. I'm not scared of it. Do you want me? (and, yknow, I know the fact I'm not scared makes me hot as fuck so yeah, you kind of do don't you?' *coquettish smile*) not, 'I'm really mad at you for making me want you and it makes me feel weak and emasculated and so I'm going to be a dominating jerk about it.'

Not like I love my guitar....

I have no desire for the power that men possess in this world. I'm satisfied to use my power over them to convince them to use their power in the world on my behalf. I don't like getting my hands dirty. And since their bodies are better suited to toil in the world...and it gives them great pleasure to do so, why take that from them? (Read Katerina's final speech in Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.)

Being domineering isn't the same as being a Dominant, in the same way that having the ability or the desire to submit is not the same as being a submissive.

It takes a strong intellect to recognize the difference.

True power allows quiet and stillness in the knowledge of innate strength.

So many profound thoughts here about sacred feminine energy. We have quite a few ladies here who know our worth. cool

It's an energy that intrigued Prince. He noticed things about women that never even occur to other men.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

(and, yknow, I know the fact I'm not scared makes me hot as fuck so yeah, you kind of different don't you?' *coquettish smile*) not, 'I'm really mad at you for making me want you and it makes me feel weak and emasculated and so I'm going to be a dominating jerk about it.'

I have no desire for the power that men possess in this world. I'm satisfied to use my power over them to convince them to use their power in the world on my behalf. I don't like getting my hands dirty. And since their bodies are better suited to toil in the world...and it gives them great pleasure to do so, why take that from them? (Read Katerina's final speech in Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.) Being domineering isn't the same as being a Dominant, in the same way that having the ability or the desire to submit is not the same as being a submissive. It takes a strong intellect to recognize the difference. True power allows quiet and stillness in the knowledge of innate strength. After all, lions don't have to tell everyone that they're a lion...they simply are.

...and that is what I think I am on this earth to learn....how to harness the feminine power within, instead of stifling it for safety's sake.

use the power for good grasshoppuh smile

and safety is important - we still and probably will always have to think about safety but then that also teaches a woman how to unleash her gifts strategically.

Joy in Repetition

{crowd noise same as for "Alphabet Street"}

He like to frequent this club down up on 36th
Pimps and thangs like 2 hang outside and cuss for kicks

Talking 2 no one in particular, they say "the baddest I am tonight"
4 letter words are seldom heard with such dignity and bite.
All the poets and the part time singers always hang inside
live music from a band plays a song called "Soul Psychodelicide".
The song's a year long and had been playing 4 months when he
walked into the place.
No one seemed to care, an introverted this-is-it look on most of their faces.
Up on the mic repeating 2 words, over and over again
was this woman he had never noticed before he lost himself in the
articulated manner in which she said them.
These 2 words, a little bit behind the beat.
I mean just enough 2 turn u on.
4 everytime she said the words another one of his doubts were gone.

Should he try 2 rap with her' Should he stand and stare'
No one else was watching her, she didn't seem 2 care.
So over and over, she said the words til he could take no more, (no more)
he dragged her from the stage and together they ran through the back door
In the alley over by the curb he said tell me what's your name
she only said the words again and it started to rain (rain, rain, rain)
2 words falling between the drops and the moans of his condition
holding someone is truly believing there's joy in repetition.
There's joy in repetition.
There's joy in repetition.
There's joy in repetition.
There's joy in repetition.
She said love me, love me, what she say'
she say love me, love me.
Joy, why don't u love me baby, joy, why can't u love me baby
joy, come on and love me baby, joy in repetition
Alright, joy in repetition,
Alright, joy in repetition,
Alright, joy in repetition,
Alright, joy, all my wishes add up to one
Love me, joy, Love me, joy, Love me, joy
Love me, Love me, joy, joy, joy in repetition
joy, joy in repetition,
joy, joy (love me) in repetition,
Love me, love, joy, joy, joy in repetition
joy, and I'm gonna say it again, joy, joy, and I'm gonna say it again,
joy, I'd like 2 go way up high and say, Love me, joy
I'll say Love me, joy

Yaaaaas! That's why he borrowed it in performance and that's why he was drawn to it in his private life and that's why we are seduced by his legacy...even from the great beyond.

what a beautiful post...a sonnet to us from above! I would love to print this up and hang it on my wall as a sort of affirmation when I'm feeling down. beautiful and so true.

Why not? I wrote it for all of us.

One Kiss At A Time

Come here, baby
Come and get your come on
Oh, I see this is what U wanted
One kiss at a time
(I got 2 be) I got 2 be up on it
If I want 2 make U mine

This is something every girl should know
Every part of U comes alive when U take it slow
And every nervous twitch that happens when my tongue is there
Your lips, up and down your back and every single hair
It all makes up the beauty of your grand design
Every man has got a duty, and 2night I want 2 do mine

(Oh, I see) Oh, I see this is what U wanted
One kiss at a time
(I got 2 be) I got 2 be up on it, yeah
If I want 2 make U mine

This is something every man should see
Give your woman what she wants and give her what she needs
(What she needs {x3})
Ask her in a whisper that only 2 can hear
What can I do, what can I say, baby' Forget your every single fear
Slowly I pull your strap down and touch U as if 2 heal (heal)
Layer by layer, inch by inch, until your true love is revealed

Oh, I see, ooh, this is what U wanted, baby
One kiss at a time
I got 2 be, I got 2 be up on it
If I want 2 make U mine

If every man could love their woman the way that I love U
Time would stop and the sky would fall
And all could see the glory of what true love can bring
That's what I sing
Oh, I see

(Oh, I see) Mmm, this is what U wanted
One kiss at a time
I got 2 be on my knees, I.. I.. I.. I gotta please
If I want 2 make U mine

Only, only, only way 2 get your come on, all night long
One kiss at a time (And I know that's right)
(I gotta stay) I gotta stay, [good and long] (Now come on)
On this Valentine

Come on (Come and get your come on)
Get your come on, baby
One kiss at a time
Come on, baby, let's get this on
One kiss at a time
Uh huh, yeah
One kiss at a time {x2}
