Thanks so much for the advice! I'll try that. I've been asking my family about them going and everyone is sick of me talking about anything Prince related. lol

[Edited 9/1/16 20:12pm]

I know my friends and family feel the same way but they've been encouraging me to go. My BF never liked P but he thought it would be crazy for me not to go. He said, "You need to be with your people." He's so right and I can't wait to meet everyone. One of the reasons I loved P was his way of bringing so many different types of people together. The audiences at his shows were the most diverse anyone will ever see at a concert of any kind. Even now, he's bringing all of us together.

Everyone is sick of me talking about him too; my bestie does try to be interested in the convo, though because she knows he means so much. I think if it weren't for the fact that we're planning a trip to Europe in April/May 2017...she would even join me BUT she is saving up for that (as I should also be razz cool ). Plus to be honest, I think unless you DO have another Prince Fam in your life to go with...I wouldn't want to have a non-fam go and maybe...not be interested in some things so inadvertantly deflate the energy a bit, ya know? For me, going by myself ...feels right. And linking up get togethers with other fams while there...is going to really make this trip even more special. nod

mushy

Yea, Exactly. I can here my family member now "is it time to go yet? When does this end?" lol I'm just ready to link up with like-minded ppl wink

Yes!!!! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Prince’s Iconic Paisley Park to Open for Public Tours this Fall St. Paul, Minn., August 24, 2016 – Paisley Park, Prince’s extraordinary private estate and production complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota, will open for daily public tours starting October 6, 2016. The family of Prince Rogers Nelson and Estate special administrator, Bremer Trust, are pleased to share this plan to realize Prince’s long-term vision for the property. Millions of Prince fans worldwide will have the unprecedented opportunity to tour the legendary, 65,000- square-foot complex, which served as the production studio and creative oasis for one of the greatest and most beloved music artists of all time. “Opening Paisley Park is something that Prince always wanted to do and was actively working on,” stated Tyka Nelson, Prince’s sister. “Only a few hundred people have had the rare opportunity to tour the estate during his lifetime. Now, fans from around the world will be able to experience Prince’s world for the first time as we open the doors to this incredible place.” Read more: http://www.ci.chanhassen..../view/3039 ********** Sign up for email updates: Tour tix: http://www.officialpaisleypark.com/ - luv4u

Definitely! There's some call outs for get togethers in the fan gathering section that range from 'people from certain states getting together' to a First Ave tour, PP and the two double feature movie fundraisers - keep an eye in there because as soon as announcement IS made and peole have secured tickets, I suspect that to be a hotbed of activity with regards to planning and meet-ups smile. Along with the two movie get togethers, I intend to organize at least one 'social/mixer' either before or after a movie event, and also before or after the tribute event at nearby establishments. Would be really great to get together with different fams!

Did I see someone on here say that PP tour tickets were refundable up until the day before or something? I bought GA ones then decided on VIP so I have 2 extra tickets, but on the Official PP site it says non-refundable and all sales final. And cant be sold. Hmmm. I swear someone mentioned this.

The universe terms and conditions which is listed as you make payment stated this, and then the next day, it was linking to the 2 sentence blurb on paisley park stating no. Reach out to them just in case. But they did tell me that you can transfer ticket names on there, so if you sell them to someone else ( maybe via marketplace etc) you can transfer the tix to them.

I didn't find that amusing. sad but if I encounter him, ..... I won't encounter him because he is Gods so he is definitely in heaven already.
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

I'm plannning to make the pilgrimage from the UK to Paisley Park later in the year (Novemeber or December). Just wondering before I book a date/flights/hotels etc, are there any planned events people know about that are worth linking the visit with? due to work commitments I could not make the Revolution gig's, I would have loved to attend them and the Paisley Park tour.

Are there any fan meetup's planned with the Paisley Park tours?

I must admit this did cross my mind already as it's my profession. Would be amazing to have some kind of message from P. I know some people would probably think it's in bad taste though.

the fact that he passed at paisley under weird circumstances, that have yet to be defined, makes it super soon for fans to be touring, for me. if he had not passed there, maybe, but for me way too soon. they will be making bank on the memorial, and there are $300 million dollars, probably about half after intesate costs, worth of assest that can be used to hang on to the park if that is what the family chooses to do with the money. it feels like deflection from the sad news of the week, and like a respectful morning period has not passed. as much as i would like to go while there is still the "prince aura" hanging in the air, it just feels too fast and too sad.

There's some misunderstanding about the $300 million. That is what the goverment estimates the estate might earn in the future from licensing deals, selling music from the vault, Paisley Park, etc. That money doesn't exist, yet, and may never exist. It's just what the government thinks it could make and since they think it could make that in the future, they want their cut of that now, even though the money hasn't been made, yet. It's actually very unfair but it's the law and with no will in place, there's no getting out of it.

What does a will have to do with it? Estate taxes have to be paid whether there was a will or not. I'm not exactly sure how the estate is being valued. I've heard some say $300M others $500M but I think most people are just pulling numbers out of their rear end.

A properly executed will protects the estate. He could have set up various trusts and endowments that would have set money aside in ways that estate taxes wouldn't apply to those things and minimize the taxes that would have to be paid. For example, anything he might have left to his siblings would still be subject to estate tax. I'm by no means an estate lawyer or financial planner but I've known a few in my lifetime who've given me the lectures about why a will is so necessary. They're usually pretty passionate about it. Without a will, the government gets to divy everything up and of course they make sure they get the biggest piece of the pie.

I don't disagree about numbers being pulled out of asses. Unfortunately, the government is basically pulling a value out if it's ass as well but unlike the others throwing out numbers, whatever number the IRS throws out is the one that's actually gotta be paid for. AND, why wouldn't they throw the highest number they can out there to justify collecting a riduculous amount of money?

--- The government has not come up with any numbers yet. That 3 million comes from the media. We really have no idea how much his estate is valued and once again wills can be contested and even Robin William's trust was held up.

I hope they don't allow photos. I'm involved with a historic stately home in England that doesn't allow them. They like to preserve the mystery so more people pay to do the tour.

[i]they said there are photo ops for VIP tickets. So I guess there gonna have a photographer snap your photo and charge you for it. sad

Sounds like lots of people are applying. Also the Graceland folks said they've had families of other celebrities approach them before but Prince's family is the first one they chose to work with.

I'm from North Carolina and just got back from Minnesota and went to Minneapolis and Chanhassen. It was so special seeing Paisley Park the way that it looked when Prince lived there. There were no additional parking spaces added, his tour bus was still parked out back and the purple flowers, memorabilia and pictures fans left on the fence were still there. I'm glad now that I saw it before it is open to the public because I know they are going to change some things.
