Just signed up for the taste testing samples that Prince use to eat. Should be interesting.

Also, rec'd response back that there will be a place in PP to store small items like backpacks, etc until the tour ends.

I also contacted PP today to find out if the tasting is before or after the tour (tight timing for me, between the tour and one of the movie events). They answered very quickly and said the tasting will be done after the tour ends. Just in case anyone else needs to know.
And the MUSIC continues...forever...

Drove by PP over lunch. Definitely the most vehicles I've seen in the parking lot in a while. I saw some guys laying an asphalt walkway between the front and back driveway. And a lady was out weeding and planting some new flowers. With all the vehicles there you can tell they're sprinting to get this finished for Thursday. City council meeting tonight should be interesting. I'm glad it's being streamed online so I can watch it and the Vikings at the same time. lol

A friend of mine got hired as a tour guide. He said that their job orientation is today. Anxiously awaiting the details...

Wow looks like the museum won't be opening on Thursday. eek City Council didn't approve the re-zoning to a museum and without that I don't think they can open for public tours. They'll have to provide more detailed plans around traffic, pedestrian safety and the fence to the council. So I don't know if that means they refund people's tickets or what happens. And I'm not sure what happens with hired staff either. Apparently they went through orientation today. Wow oh wow.

So disappointing. My friend said things were definitely not ready for the public as of today.

It was definitely rushed but I blame the mayor and city staff for ever letting it get to the point where a date was announced and they were offering tickets to begin with. Did the mayor have no clue that the city council would react this way? And how did none of these questions come up until tonight? Why weren't city council members requesting this information back in August and September?

It's probably a good thing it's being delayed but it is an embarrassment. Is the Today Show going to cancel their segment with Tyka now? What a mess.

Not sure it's the mayor's fault. Sounds like Graceland was over optimistic... I feel bad for people that booked flights and rooms. Yikes!

But the mayor didn't agree with the other city council members. Some how Bremer and Graceland got the impression this would be approved otherwise they never would have started selling tickets and hiring staff. Even if they were overly optimistic it's up to the city to put the brakes on this since they're the final approval. Why didn't the city call a special city council meeting when the date was first announced? Did they draw up a list of demands or questions that would need to be answered before they would give their approval?

Flying 9,500km to see this. It won't make up for the missed oppertunity in 2002, but hopefully a small feeling of peace.

I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

Prepare to be disappointed: http://www.swnewsmedia.co...8e126.html

.

Paisley Park museum plans were put on hold Oct. 3 when the Chanhassen City Council voted to table a plan to rezone Prince's property on Audubon Road.

.

After debating the topic for more than 3-½ hours the council voted 3-2 to table the plan.

.

The vote derails plans for opening Paisley Park to public tours later this week.

.

Utter amateur hour.

All council members were against it. The only reason the one council member didn't vote with the others is he didn't think 120 days was enough time.

It was rushed. They should have waited for 2017, for various reasons.

A shame for those planning on going, not to mention money already spent. I read on FB that many flights, hotel bookings, etc were not refundable. That is not good.

Mods need to change the title to either state the opening date is'Tentative' or 'Delayed' until further notice. At least for now until they get updated info.

The question that's bothering me is this: how come the Estate/Bremer/Graceland went ahead with plans for opening, with Tyka schedulled to be on national tv tomorrow (or was it today?) and live coverage, if there were still issues being discussed and, more importantly, not settled in the council?

My thoughts exactly. You would think that would have been one of the first steps completed was to get the approval from "up above" before spreading the word and requesting reservations. With Jason Noonan's suggestion, I sent a direct e-mail to the mayor and the council. Any of you with objections, might want to do the same. The more received, the better odds we might have. Just a thought...

What if they were blindsided by the city council last night? What if they were lead to believe this was a done deal? Why would they do something that makes them look bad/incompetent?

I hear ya.

I am booked to fly in on Oct 12th...and I just booked everything too. I booked it to coincide with the benefit concert. Luckily the only thing I will be peanalized on is my flight. Everything else is refundable.

This is really crazy. I'm sure PP will honor our tickets for when it does open...but I will have to make 2 trips. One for the concert and one for PP. sheesh.

I think they'll probably get it worked out. At this point the mayor and council are starting to panic with all the emails and phone calls.

That's BS. Things ain't a "done deal" unless papers are signed, simple as that. Full blame falls on the estate.
