That void that prince always filed but isn't there no more.

What for you did he represent? For me he was part of my youth, but also represented a part of me that no one else saw. The emotive but philosophical side, in touch with sentimentality, intelligence & creativity, but with a bit of mysticism.

So.. All in all what did Prince do for you? What emotions did his very being conjure up?

Far out I know, but I think this is the stuff which gels us together as people who share a common ground for Prince, not just as a musician but a human being.

I've gone through some rough patches in the last fifteen years or so. For me Prince was one of the few constants in my life: nevermind how sh*t things were, we were only a few months away from new Prince. No one is going to fill the void he has left but I have realises more and more recently that Prince's music makes me happy, and no one is going to take the music away.

hard to put into words, hard to tell stranger too because he openly did so many things I'm afraid of people knowing about me. The biggest void is that he himself, his character, his talent such a huge loss. It's not like losing any other musician, he was a one off in so many ways. Elvis was great but a lot of what made him such a star had nothing to do with his musical ability, Michael of course had the vision to be as big as he was but Prince just isn't really like most of our icons. He was more dedicated, more prolific and more consistent. I mean it's like seeing a beautiful bird in full flight one minute and the next he's gone forever, that juxtaposition is strange.

For me, Prince is the ultimate embodiment of human creativity, potential, and individuality.

.

We all have this God-given gift, but unlike most, he chose to use it and dedicate his life to realizing its fullest potential, which reflected his gratitude back to God.

.

I believe many are drawn to him, myself included, because he shows me what is possible in myself.

.

Because his music is a byproduct of his dedication to his creativity, I find comfort and joy from experiencing it.

Show your heart to me.

Somehow losing him feels like my inner child died. He was my inner child out in the world doing wonderful magical things, the true essence of my spirit in expression. Now there is a blank void within and I feel grown, exhausted and sad.

Just knowing he was in the world was a solid stable lighthouse for my soul. Beeming the light that is the same frequency as mine.

The frequency that life tends to stomp out of you. Therein lies the void.

I'm still processing.............

That excitement I felt from the 1st time hearing that Prince is actually coming to my city and doing a concert. That Prince is on tour. I'd be so happy just to have that to look forward to. I remember getting my ticket to see him and it felt like nothing could bring me down because was going to see Prince again. Buying clothes and everything I did up until he finally walked out on that stage just lit up my life. I was so looking forward to this next concert and now he's gone.

Well, when he died and I started really studying him, I was having a terrible time being angry at some people I know. His lyrics and example helped me with that a lot, especially The Love We Make, which is why I have lyrics from that as my signature here.
Along the same line, I saw in him someone who did what he did without beating himself up for mistakes, he let himself move on, and he was himself regardless of anyone's opinions.
Then there was the love. His lyrics about that show me that he became a very mature man in that aspect.
Mostly, he didn't let fear stop him from displaying who he was. At least on stage.

God fills voids, not people.
Prince helped.
In really admire and respect this person.

Yes!

It's that comfort I felt just knowing that he was on Earth somewhere doing whatever he was doing.

I can't find the right way to articulate it, but now it feels like a candle to my soul has snuffed out.

I keep trying to remember that he is now simply a part of Universal Energy, and that he's still with me just his form has changed.

Sometimes I think I can feel his energy vibration out there. Sometimes it's strong, sometimes it's weak.

Acceptance has been my biggest struggle. I'll get there.

It doesn't sound bizzare to me and really who cares? I in fact have had two visits since he died. I didn't post them here because this board feels very unwelcome to those kinds of topics. Both visits left me warm and knowing he isn't gone, but afterwards I do still feel the void.

Here is the link to my blog about the visits if interested http://lyght2.wix.com/lyg...20133e637e

cool thanks, kinda reminds me of stories I've read about Indians who could make mini-solar systems appear complete with setting suns.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, @Lyght2. I loved what he said about the phases of the moon. No doubt, he was a bright light, and his energy did not die, only his physical body. I am sure if we are open to experiencing his energy, we will experience it in different forms. Thank you again! dove dove

I am probably the only one that does not fill like I have a void. If anything his absence from this world has caused a great interest in the world of Funk music beyond George Clinton and so forth. I find myself seeking out to find artists who play funk music and then try to figure out why we don't hear them on radio these days.

Thank you for everyone's thoughts and experiences. His music will help to 'heal' the void, as will understanding why we felt connected to him so much. I don't think I will ever find another living thing to replace what I had for him though.
