Honestly, I'm not really sure who this face is but it does look alot like the women from the 40's eg. Hedy Lamarr etc.
.
I've just had a look at Denise's (Vanity's) Instagram on a different thread and there's a photo used on the cover of her book where she looks like a 40's film star. Maybe the face in PR could be her?

Yes, I can see what you mean now. The eye shape and expression look different though. OldFriends highlighted the fact that the faces in the Kids room are of 1940's actresses, so to me it would make sense if that face belonged to an actress from that era. Life Matters |

Yes, she's looking down at the camera as opposed to straight on so it won't look the same. And I think this photo was taken a couple of years after PR for her 1986 album. But really, it doesn't matter to me who it is! I do think he's drawn inspiration from the 40's like you mentioned and the face is beautiful! It's just been interesting to see the histories of the women anyway, like Hedy, and how inspirational they were!

Slightly ashamed to admit I googled "the great gatsby atari" after you posted that, I so wanted it to be true
Oh wait shit I just realised that that image is actually from a videogame:

Looking at the stills from PR, with Apollonia climbing through the window, it's more like images of her or Jill Jones.
I can see a resemblance to Clara Bow with the art work from ATWIAD though that's for sure. He always loved all the old BW film stars. |

Yes, it's very close. The only reserve I've got is that the image is showing her eyes as blue but it seems like Clara's eyes were brown. The other thing is the face on the image looks really familiar but I just can't remember who exactely it reminds me of. I wonder if it could be a combination of faces, to achieve that sort of "deja-vu" effect...
I thought so too, a combination maybe 1 persons eyes and anothers mouth
Wouldn't anybody from PR, When Doves Cry,know, Wendy, Lisa, Andre, etc that could be asked? admission is easy, just say U believe, then come 2 this place in your heart. |

Throwing out all these names, Lucille Ball fits also. The big blue eyes, and lips.

This evening, I received an email from Doug Henders (the artist who painted "the face"). Amongst other things, this is what he wrote:
"[...]and Prince really liked this one. There was no particular inspiration but he personally identified with it very strongly[...]"
Well I guess the search is over. We can now relax and enjoy it for what it is: a beautiful artistic creation. [Edited 7/15/16 17:30pm] Life Matters |

You're welcome. Hadn't thought of Twiggy yet, but after Hedy Lamarr I had also thought Vivien Leigh. It is such a fascinating image, in that everyone sees someone different in it. [Edited 7/16/16 2:56am] Life Matters |

Facial asymmetry is deemed Not aesthetically pleasing. The willfulness of that here doesn't sit well (with most) and as such, is simply being used to draw you in further.
