"Revelation" HNR PH 2 - can't stop listening.

This is one of those delishous ballads that at first I thought was boring but something caught my ear so I listened again. Now I wake up with it on my mind.

Double meanings galore and lots of sensuality.
So rich - and those vocals!

Questions:

Who plays guitar on this? Is Prince playing any instrument? Can't find it on cd.

When was this written? Any guesses or ideas? Was it in the vault for a while??

This is not music, this is a trip
No, it's not a drug, it's something more hip
Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine
Purple music does the same to my brain

Thank you. Ok, this might sound like a stupid question to some of you but I'm still learning so I'm going to ask anyway:

It says Prince played "all instruments except where noted...", so if others are playing drums, keyboard, horns and bass guitar, then what's left other than lead guitar? Is that probably all he played on this tune?

That's probably what it means! That's the best information we have (until someone has a better source.) lol

Ok. There'ssome geeat guitar being played. I can't tell if that's the bass guitar or Prince. The bass guitar would just be deep, underlying notes, right? And the screaming guitar would be Prince?

Fantastic song and yes, certainly when he says 'Can I play with you now?' it sounds like classic Prince on guitar to me biggrin

Wonderful song, but you better play it loud at night, the effect is greater and more beautiful.

I was at the show that night. I would love to have a soundboard quality recording of that. I'm still glad to have the audience recording, though. Beautiful song!
