When I first heard Cream I actually had no idea that the word cream had an. . .other more adult meaning as well lol. So from the get go I thought of this song the same as you, as self motivational, in the cream rises to the top, cream of the crop type of way. It's always been one of my favorites too. Cream was the song that got me into Prince and I kind of thought that Cream was about semen as that was a fancy name for jizz, semen, cum.
