Coincidence?

Fate!

Most of his business life was sloppy.

Paying bills late, doing half assed CONtracts leaving at least some party with a problem. (the fans..)

Tours were getting cheaper. Noticably.

And then the sloppiness turned to his use of drugs.

How unexpected.

I read online that she sang at the Saturday memorial at PP. So the family must not think she made a mistake leaving P alone after the airplane incident.

.

So we agree that Prince was incompetent at the time and needed someone competent to think and arrange for him?

That is not what I said. If, as in The New York Times article, which right off the bat said she was sitting opposite the man she loved, and then he had a serisous medical issue, wouldn't she have stayed with him, cancelling her plans? I do not think Prince was incompetent, but, if he was in the throes of a medical crisis over a period of days, it would have seemed wise for SOMEONE to stay with him. If you were in love with him, wouldn't you have stayed, even if he protested? Of course you would have. JMO

maybe she left because someone else stayed with him, i.e. kirk (friend of 30+ years), meron, etc., so she felt he would be ok with them.

Yes. Absolutely, positively, without a doubt. Of course.

But I'm also going to add that I don't think anything that anyone did would have changed what ultimately happened.

I've been taking Ativan, along with other prescribed meds for my mental health, for just over 3 years now. The dosage is low though. So I'm not sure if that matters when it concerns withdrawal. I went on a period of not taking the Ativan and I didn't have any withdrawals. Eventually I changed how much I would take at once (from 1 pill to 2) because taking just 1 is no longer effective. I've taken Klonopin before Ativan and didn't have any withdrawals on that, either. But, I have been addicted to a pain killer before. Hydrocodone but still, when I stopped cold turkey I didn't have any withdrawal symptoms. If I had any then I was unaware.

I am using Effexor ER, Lorazepam, Trazodone and Bel Somra (?). I have to take the Effexor on time or if I am late by (starting 3 hours) I start going through withdrawls. Nausea, sweating, shaking, ringing in ears, muscle cramps, major g.i. cramps, mind starts racing with several wild thoughts at a time, extremely agitated working up to vomiting/runs, chills, endless shivering while burning up and it lasted 8 days (when I was using stardard Effexor) before it started letting up. That is the only med that works for me and I have resigned myself to staying on it because without it, I have no life and make others' lives miserable. It's that or I am better off not being here.

I am a chronic insomniac, I have to mix my lorazepam with alcohol or it simply does not work and my psych will not increase my dose (somewhat small). The Trazodone was suppose to help me sleep but it actually works with my Effexor so I don't have to ramp up as quickly. The Bel Somra is still in the works.

Just like another poster stated, every body works different.

No judgement on Prince for using whatever, whenever...whether it was for physical pain, emotional pain, mental fuziness or anything else. We all have crutches to get through life, sometimes those crutches becomes an albatross and can be something we have to wrestle with for the rest of our lives.

Hi, Sister hug I took Effexor XR and had a similar experience when I was ready to quit it. I took it for 10 years and tried three times to get off it and would always cave in because the withdrawals were so incredibly bad!!! This, for a drug they gave me off label for a hormone imbalance!!! I finally just went cold turkey three years ago. I had really bad ringing in my ears and just the worst overall feeling of being unwell. I finally got through it but it was very unpleasant. Being addicted to anything is like being trapped!!!

So, no judgement from me either. We are only human and are doing what we are told will be good for us and fix our problem. Sorry you had to suffer that way.

That is exactly right! They are the ones who called the DR in California and said Prince was in grave danger, so why was he left alone? He had to go to the E.R. earlier that day so again if he was sick and in grave danger then why in the hell was he left alone even for a moment. If they really loved Prince they would have stayed with him no matter what. If he would have lived he would have thanked them later once he was better and in his right mind. They have no excuse! If Prince would have said he would fire me if I didn't leave I still would not have gone. This reminds me of a song by a band called the fray I think. The song goes ,where did I go wrong I lost a friend, did I stay up with u all night, did I know how to save a life. Anyway, some friends they were. Prince had enemys, everything is suspicious.

It would be useful to know at this point if any staff had "live-in" status at PP.

Forgive my ignorance but . .

If anyone did have that staus - a truly concerned 'outside' party would then conceivably have been able to negotiate a stay, regardless of any potential negation on Prince's part.

Thanks DollyDagger! A lot of people think it's only "drugs" that people can grow dependant upon but you and I know that is not the case. I dread the idea of going off, since most doctors believe serotonin syndrome is not real and don't believe in ramping down dosages graduatlly (often many months) or know enough to ramp down using other benzos. Glad you were able to get out from under it, but I know I will need something for the rest of my life and am glad that I am finally over the stigma of using meds. Stigma sucks and Stigma costs too many lives every year. We here all know that, unfortunately.

Prince's death: What we know, don't know four months later

Maria Puente, USA TODAY 6:57 p.m. EDT August 17, 2016

We know how Prince died, but we don't know why.

We know his staff and doctors tried to save him, but we don't know who might have played a role in his death. We know he didn't leave a will, but we don't know why. We know his estate, especially his musical legacy, is worth millions but not exactly how much, and we don't know if his famous "unreleased tapes in the vault" will ever be available to his grieving fans.

The questions still outnumber the answers.

Why? Because the police investigating this high-profile celebrity death aren't talking.

It seems that a lot of artists over the years would spend a big chunk of time in during their careers at PP.
I'm trying to imagine this.
Does this mean they lived in Prince's quarters, or did they stay in rooms somewhere else in the bldg?

The NYT article says:

"Ms. Hill, a rising, Grammy-winning artist in her own right, was an intimate and trusted collaborator. “I was with Prince the last two years of my life,” she said. She recorded and performed with him at Paisley Park, leaving her home near Los Angeles to spend half of most months there, and opened for him in concert, in Baltimore, Detroit and Washington. He co-produced her 2015 debut album, “Back in Time”; advised her as she disentangled herself from a major-label record contract; and was helping plan her tour."

if they were fucking then yeah. i think there is a loft like living space towards the back of the building that were his living quarters. there is also the much fable corporate hotel where that shameless maya stayed. he might of set her up in the same apts that he put robin, carmen and mayte. who knows.

I'm still trying to figure out just who the hell was with P at PP on the morning he was found (didn't feel like reading through 40 pages to possibly find out though). With a HUGE complex like that, I would think the groundskeeper and housekeeper would live on the grounds somewhere 24/7. It's been said that some "assistant" called on the morning of his death but couldn't reach him and decided to rush to PP. People have speculated as to how he/she got in (through those gates), but they probably had a pass code. That being said, they then let the doctor in when he arrived. The only reason I can think of for P wanting to be by himself, KNOWING full well that he would take medication for pain again and that the thing that happened on that plane could (and did) very well happen again, is that the man was ready to GO, plain and simple! I told a friend of mine this back in May before the autopsy results were in. Then Judith came out with this story on June 22, That he could hear their voices and he kept telling himself to follow the voices, that it was the HARDEST thing for him to do (to come back to this side). After that incident in Moline, you would think P would hold a press conference or SOMETHING addressing the "save shot" rumor. But no, he went right ahead and held a CONCERT at PP telling people to wait a few days before you waste any prayers. Come to think of it, how the hell did the docs know to even give him a "save" shot. This was some random hospital in the middle of nowhere. How did the docs "know" P needed a save shot. He was unconcious so he couldn't tell them he had just taken Percocet. Did they search his person to find the bottle? Did Judith or any of the rest of the gang tell them, and if so, I thought nobody EVER saw him take drugs? It COULDN'T have been a blood test cause they didn't have time for no lab stuff (that stuff takes time, P's life was at stake). Nah, P was tired...He was ready sad

I'm wondering why the suspicions towards Judith. Kirk new Prince better than anyone. He is the one who would know what was really going on. He was with Prince many many years and I'm sure Prince trusted him with everything. It's unlikely Judith knew anything until that incident on the plane.

I'm sure she learned what was going on once he was given medical treatment to revive him but it doesn't sound like she knew anything until that time. Kirk, however, would have known. If not, they wouldn't have known to give him the Narcan shot. Just my thoughts.

Regarding your comments I bolded - the news about the save shot didn't come out until after Prince died. Up until that point, all we knew about was the claim of him having the flu. Also, it's been explained many times that it's become routine these days for emergency responders to give a save shot to an unconscious person if they don't know why that person is unconscious, as it's harmless to someone that's not overdosing on opioids. They give it just in case.

Perhaps Kirk told the emergency responders - I don't know - but the responders don't need to be told. They give the shot just in case. See my post above.

Uh-uh disbelief no it didn't because Andre Cymone said in this interview that he called Tyka after it was announced to see of P was okay: www.billboard.com/article...emembrance and people in my personal life, friends co-workers said they heard it on the news too (even though I didn't hear about it until AFTER he died). When you click on the link, if you don't want to read the whole article, go to the heading "The Inside Story On Designing Prince's Paisley Park: Exclusive". Scroll down to the paragraph that begins with: "The last time we corresponded..." It happened on April 15. Prince was dead six days later. That's why he told the audience, "Wait a few days before you waste any prayers". They were worried about him because of what had happened on the 15th of April.

Of course everybody knew about the emergency landing, but you wondered why Prince didn't address the save shot story. That's because it wasn't reported until after he died.

Oh, I didn't know that. This whole thing is so confusing and crazy...LMAO! (at MY "blunder" reading so fast and going from one brower to another) But even with that being the case, HE knew what had gone down and should have wanted someone with him, just in case he had another "accidental overdose". That's why I say (more than likely) he was ready to depart from this earth sad

It would be useful to know at this point if any staff had "live-in" status at PP. Forgive my ignorance but . . If anyone did have that staus - a truly concerned 'outside' party would then conceivably have been able to negotiate a stay, regardless of any potential negation on Prince's part. No? . . question dove question

According to what has been reported in the press, Prince was at PP alone until he was found. He was dropped off around 8 PM the night before. I don't think there are 24/7 house keepers and grounds keepers there. Andrew Kornfeild (the California doctor's son) took a red eye flight from California to Minneapolis the night before Prince was found. I'm uncertain of whether Kornfield got picked up at the airport and went straight to PP or if he got picked up from a hotel. Nevertheless, either Kirk Johnson or Meron Bekure (Prince's assistant) or both picked up Kornfield and brought him to PP. The other doctor (Dr. Michael Schulenberg), the one who Prince saw the night before he was found, came right after the 1st group arrived, with test results in hand. It is possible to get test results within a few hours if they are sent to a lab or hospital lab that's open 24 hours. See Kara's explanation about the Narcan shot.

Yep, you're right about that. Speaking of his son, I was thinking the other day, I never saw a pic of Mayte pregnant. EVER. Was gonna start a post about it but it's so trivial, I figured why bother. But since we're on the subject of his son, have you?
