Just paid more attention to Rave unto the Joy...It's fantasic

I've had that CD since it first came out and just listened to it quickly, then decided I did not like it. I listened to it again and loved it, especially Man o Warm Pretty Man, The Sun Moon and Stars. The entire CD is great, underrated.

Me too. I can't explain it. Right after his passing, I had this need to listen to, "The Sun, The Moon and Stars." Have been on the whole albumn for weeks. Also spending more time on The Chocolate Invasion.

Rave is his most underrated album by his own fans imo.

Songs like The Greatest Romance, Prettyman, Man O War, Wherever U Go Whatever U Do and Strange But True smoke anything he did from Musicology and 3121. And I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore is, imo, the greatest ballad he ever wrote.

The remix of Undisputed is awesome.

Man 'o' war is a song I come back to again and again. An AMAZING song. Should have been a hit

The Greatest Romance

Prettyman

Man O War

Strange But True

I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore

Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic

Six strong tracks, the rest is so so or just plain bad. IMHO of course. The good songs are good though.

It's definitely a solid album.....as solid as they come, in fact. The only song I don't really like is "Baby Knows," but at least it has a memorable hook. "Everyday Is a Winding Road" sounds like it could belong in a Mentos commercial, but it's just goofy fun and is kind of a guilty pleasure for me. The rest of the album kicks ass!

Hi-yo Silver, it's The Bone Ranger!

One of my least favourite albums, but it has a few cracking tracks. I absolutely hate the title track though. I don't think I will ever listen to that song again. There are very few song I hate so much, and possibly no other 80s song. I don't know what it is about it, but I really detest it.

Over the years I recall many fans saying the title track had too much of a plastic-pop sound to it...I kind of understand that point. While I like the 1999 version, I've always prefered the versions he did in the Lovesexy aftershows.

I also really like it. Best album between 1995 and 2006, IMO, unless you count Crystal Ball.

I just discovered Rave also and it's awesome. So many tracks on it that I love. My favorite "wherever u go Whatever u do. I'm not a big fan of love songs for whatever reason, ( I guess I don't like being sad?) but that song is absolutely beautiful and makes me think of my son. If I end up loving more than half of an album, it's a hit in my eyes. I also love,

Man O war
Tangerine
Hot with u
The Sun The Moon And The Stars
Silly Game
So Far So Pleased (with my girl Gwen Stefani)

I don't like the original version of The Greatest Romance either. Guess it has something to do with me not liking love songs/sad songs like I stated, but Lason Nevins remix of that song is really good. Bet you'd like it.

There are a few really hot remixes from that era like Moneyapolis and Hit Wit U/Nasty Girl. Q-Tip appeared on Greatest Romance remix by Neptunes. Once I saw Maceo do a solo show and his band did Baby Knows, it was so funky.

I've always been partial to Rave in2 with the exception of the Rave remix (hate it).

Change it one more time..

The live version of So Far, So P,ease is pretty amazing as well. Really, I Love U, But I Don't Trust You is the gem of this album. If not, the whole late 90's.

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

I heard prince tried to get "so far so pleased"released as a single but there was some kind of conflict between prince and Gwen Stefanie's labels at the time .maybe someonelse can explain it better?

Interscope, those idiots, believed that a single for the song released in early 2000 would confuse audiences because they were about to release No Doubt's 4th album and they feared that SFSP would somehow compete with it, or that audiences would believe it was a No Doubt duet with Prince from the No Doubt album. They had the contractual power to prevent Prince and Gwen from releasing a single and they did. Those morons ruined a wonderful opportunity for both P and Gwen.

It's actually the first album I listened to after his passing. When I first got it in 1999 I thought it was ok and never played it much, but after playing it again I discovered that I absolutely love this album. Lots of good stuff here. It is one of his strongest albums post WBs.

My Favorite tracks are So far So Pleased, Undisputed, Hot With U, Strange But True, Wherever You Go, Tangerine, Man O'War. You have to be careful about dismissing Prince's music to quickly. You could miss out on something you might really enjoy if you had of given it a chance. wink
