It's actually the first album I listened to after his passing. When I first got it in 1999 I thought it was ok and never played it much, but after playing it again I discovered that I absolutely love this album. Lots of good stuff here. It is one of his strongest albums post WBs.

My Favorite tracks are So far So Pleased, Undisputed, Hot With U, Strange But True, Wherever You Go, Tangerine, Man O'War.
You have to be careful about dismissing Prince's music to quickly. You could miss out on something you might really enjoy if you had of given it a chance
. wink

My sentiments exactly. U know how many songs I skipped on albums because at the time I didn't love it, and now I'm like "How in the world was this not a hit?! Like I didn't dismiss it myself, lol. Prince knew what he was doing when u couldn't skip tracks on LoveSexy without playing the whole album. I remembered being so annoyed at that. Now I'm greatful...

Oh god, that album. It was my introduction to his music back in 2000 when I was 17. The album cover drew me in so bad, I couldn't believe how gorgoues he looked (I know, superficial). The record store at the time offered special deals, if you bought 5 CDs, you can get two used for free. I got Rave which was still in new condition luckily (I have no idea why it was returned) and I got Mary J Blige's "Share My World".

Mind you, I've rarely been exposed to his music prior to that point so I didn't have any past frame of reference. But I was taken aback at how quirky the production and the vocal delivery was. And being a huge fan of sarcasm, I also appreciated his dry wit in his lyrics. I was so obsessed with that album, I had to go back and progressively buy whatever I found in no special order until I stumbled on "Sign' O The Times" which was somewhat of an aquired taste for me, the only song I recognized was "If I Was Your Girlfriend" and thats only because TLC covered it. But my second time listening to it when I officially fell into that rabbit hole and end up in Prince' wonderland so to speak. I've never came back eversince smile I credit the song "Tangerine" from Rave for single handidly shift the landscape of my musical taste which was so limited at the time and introduced me to a whole new different world of musical styles via Prince, who in result, introduced me to Joni, Sly, Miles, Chaka and so on. Had it not been to that album, I wouldn't have the opportunity to enjoy the eclectic styles of music I'm exposed to today.

Because if you've been around for that long, you'd know that Beautiful Strange gets big love.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yeah that's true ..I guess I was just reminding everyone about the song .I know the original version gets a lot of praise but I think the Rave version is better.
