Sheila E. also provided a spark of hope for those looking to celebrate the singer's life. There are apparently plans to turn Prince's Paisley Park recording complex into a museum dedicated to the artist's storied career.

"We're hoping to make Paisley what [Prince wanted] it to be. [He] was working on it being a museum," she shared. "He's been gathering memorabilia and stuff from all the tours, like my drums and his motorcycle."

"There's a hallway of his awards and things, which he really didn't care about too much, but he displayed it for the fans because he knows that they would want to see it," Sheila E. detailed. "There's pictures of him all down the halls, some you've seen before and some never [seen]… There's a mural on the wall with his hands out and on one side is all the people he was influenced by and the other side is all of us who have played with him... It's beautiful."

If this is what Prince wanted then fine, but I think it should remain as a commercial recording studio and sound stage. The tech is out of this world and so it will be a shame if it isn't used again.

Agree - it needs to continue to be a commerical site and keep it upto date with the technology that would hevae been updated if he was here.

It should also be used for one of his charitable trusts to give the underprivilidged kids from his charities and local school kids a chance of using top a quality recording facility, giving back is what its all about and we need to remember this was one of his primary wishes.

I'm happy about the news of Paisley Park becoming a museum, I just don't want it to go all "Graceland" and have them selling "Prince collector plates" and "Paisley Park spoons" ya know?

But otherwise, if it was his wish, really cool

For me, the most important thing will be ensuring its on a sound financial footing. Be it as a working studio/performance hall or a museum.

I'm pretty sure, seeing the coverage, that the right business manager could secure an element of state funding as both a tourist attraction and a local service.

Prince used to hand the management duties to people he trusted, but they were not always good at business decisions. I think its crucial that the Estate (whoever that will be) employ people with the right skills, not the right connections.

It will all depend on his will, and how well planned he made it. There must have been many updates to his will recently, remember he was married twice also was in a relationship currently, regained master recordings, his devotion to his religion, plus he did have a sister that under law if his will is not updated, she could technically get it all.

I hope there's a will but, as we know, he was against CONtracts...

Best case scenario for a lot of fans:

• Paisley Park might become some kind of music university
• the Vault material will see the day of light
• Earnings from his legacy go to charity and next of kin

Worst case scenario for a lot of fans:

• Paisley Park might be torn down
• the vault material might be destroyed
• Earnings goes to record labels

Time will tell what might happen in the near future

I would rather it go to the musicians and singers who worked for him over the years (even give Tony M a check) but mostly go to keeping Paisley Park wonderful

create a charitable foundation and music school at paisley park. or, summer music school. prince's old crew and band members will instruct students. classes on studio recording, playing instruments, performing. everything prince was about. build it and they will come.

call it, paisley park promises or something and offer scholarships for gifted students and help other people rise up in the world and have self-confidence just like prince did

Confused? Soo...Sheila is okay with turning Paisley Park into a tourist attraction but doesn't want any of the music in the vault to be released. That really doesn't make any sense to me.

I can see it being a museum for the short term, but to remain a museum, there would have to be some sort of money-making aspect for the complex. I'm assuming there's no mortgage and the building and land are free and clear, but it's a 40,000+ square-foot building. Property taxes, utilities, and maintenance will be costly, and I can't imagine there would be enough foot traffic as a museum alone to merit keeping it open a decade from now. I mean, I'm as die-hard a Prince fan as they come, but I live in Florida. I'll try to venture out there if I can ever make it up to Minneapolis, but it's not like I'm going to make regular visits.

I'd love to see the studios and other areas kept in tact the way Prince left them. The sound stage area has a lot of potential for commercial production work and other things. If it doesn't generate revenue and becomes a money pit for whoever takes it over, I can see it beeing put up for sale eventually, and I know we'd all hate to see that happen.

I have no desire to go to PP if Prince is not there. I mean it sounds kind of cool but I sure would not take a special trip to MPLS to see it. I would fly around the country to see P in concert but just don't care that much about PP and to see his old clothes and gold records and such.

But if other people are into it and will enjoy it, then that's great and hope they go that route.

I know what you mean. One of things that hit me hardest was that there was no one else I would go see around the world. Part of me feels I may have to do this for some kind of closure. But I do feel it weird he would want that.

It's a compound/retreat "one stop shop" facility where you can do just about everything except make vinyl, but it's big enough to bring that equipment in. I don't know if they mass produced CDs there though.

As far as a memorabilia museum...they'd either revamp part of Paisley Park that will no longer be used, or build a new building to house everything. They probably could turn the soundstage into a museum even though that's a shame from all the renovations that were done to it.

Don't forget Prince had a "yard sale" years ago, do they try to chase down the people who bought that stuff just to display it, or create a virtual museum?

They could turn The Egg into the gift shop. From what I've read, it's currently been unused . . .

If it's going to be a museum, would be nice if they had a "No Shoes" policy, but I can see how that would prove difficult.

If it turns out that Prince has stated in his will that he wanted it to be a museum then I'm all for it. Otherwise...I don't know.

I'm 100% sure there are no CD pressing facilities at Paisley. It just wouldn't make sense. The automated pressing equipment, including the silk screening unit, plus any packaging equipment etc would actually all fit in a bigger room. BUT you need glass masters for pressing CDs and glass mastering is rather expensive. It's not financially viable for small runs. For larger orders you have a choice of many companies who'll do it for you.

For in-house use you can always simply burn a few CD-Rs.

It looks like his estate will be run by a trust company until anything arises.

I cant see it lasting long term as a museum. People get bored after so long. Its a shame that they couldn't turn it into a music school, under Princes name. He would love that I'm sure the authorities would try and pull the right strings to make it happen. No disrespect, but it aint New York, or London where you get alot of tourists visiting every year.

i totally agree! paisley performing arts. who wouldn't want to enroll? especially if all of prince's old colleagues were the teachers. heck, i'll sign up!

and the thing is, itthe equipment is all already in place, just the musician/teachers have to be recruited and signed up.

someone needs to get a business model worked up, see how to meet statutory requirements.
