If 1999 was a triple album... I know I'm on an Emancipation-thread talking smack about triple albums in general, but who here thinks 1999 would be a better triple album than Emancipation? I'm understanding his frustration with WB, he had so much strong unreleased and B-Side material from 1982. "How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore" is up there with his best beats, "Irresistible Bitch" ranks with his best beats. Those two, plus:
Horny Toad Turn It Up Do Yourself a Favor Extraloveable Lust U Always Moonbeam Levels
Plus all the other tunes he wrote in this period and released later, and nevermind all the work he did for other groups. The Kid was on a tear. What other unreleased gems are out there from this era?

I think How Come U Dont Call Me Anymore would've taken it to another level. The rest of the songs though, as much as I love them I don't think they really fit. They could've worked well as an EP in 1983 though. ¡The Future Is Ours, If You Can Count! https://www.youtube.com/w...A_zTY0qWWk

... It would've sucked! I'm getting so tired of these "what if" threads... What if Napoleon had won the battle of Waterloo? He still would have lost the war...

Sign me up for this as a reissue. The guy could do no wrong in 1982. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

1999 is fine as it is. I'm just looking forward to the REISSUES (whenever that may be). I'm getting the super deluxe edition of any and all reissues the estate puts out.

Yeah, I like the idea of an EP better. But somewhere before 1999, because some of the material sounds more transitional, between Controversy and 1999. And yeah, 1999 is fine as is, no disagreement there. But I wouldn't turn down a chance at a reissue full of well-sequenced bonus tracks.

And yet here you are, reading and commenting on a thread with a speculative title. Excellent use of your energy.

Disc 1: the album Disc 2: Outtakes and B-sides Disc 3: Remixes and alternate versions Disc 4: Live from the 1999 tour Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Which version of 'How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore' are you talking about? "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters," Donald Trump
