Most positions on the Billboard 200 in a single week

Thought this was worth noting. Sad that it is under these circumstances that this record was made.

-----------

"Because of the immediate and unprecedented popularity that his back catalog enjoyed after his untimely death, Prince now holds the record for controlling the most positions on the Billboard 200 in a single week. Once a full charting frame had gone by after his passing, the legendary musician’s albums took up a history-making nineteen positions on the all-encompassing albums ranking. The week dated May 14th, 2016 is now very special in that Prince was in charge of almost ten percent of all available slots, something that had never been done prior to this month. Before Prince, the Beatles had the distinction of being the musicians with the most albums simultaneously charting on the Billboard 200, thanks to one week back in 2014 when the Fab Four managed to place thirteen titles at the same time."

Thre could have been more if Prince wasn't so stupid : COME, MUSICOLOGY, GOLD, 3121, EMANCIPATION...But he wanted his albums to be out of print,so...

Another interesting record : Prince is the second artist to ever make 19 albums in the top 10 in his career. HNR2 should have been the 20th...The artist with the most top ten album (22) is Robert Zimmermann, including the latter.

--- How is Prince responsible for Come and Gold being out WB had the master tape for 20 years and could have put back in print any time they wanted to. They nothing with his catalogue for 20 years but put one shitty greatest hits. If they wanted to make money off Prince all they had to do was keep the catalogue in print and spend a little bit of money to promote the back catalogue. I doubt they had any interest in Hit and Run 2 at all.

Wrong. If WB could re-release GOLD, COME and CHAOS, they would do it in the minute.

Proof : they can only release them in vinyle and audio cassette.

It's not a coincidence if anything released after 1993 is out of Prince (except the vault, attributed to Prince).

Even for ULTIMATE, Prince had the hand on it, sadly.

These articles are a bit peculiar - this happened around a month ago (with the Billboard chart dated May 14th). There are "only" 5 Prince albums on the chart currently. Still, very impressive!

He may get a sales bump on 6/7 and 6/26. After that, it will be a while before he's on the charts again.

-- You are saying that before he left WB that WB agreed to let these go out of print as a part of his deal to leave the label? Because you need to explain that one and how come it is hard find many of the other CDs prior to him getting the masters back. I do not think WB gave one shit about his catalogue over the last twenty years. I also remember him saying that he had no involvement with the Ultimate and that he wanted to do a greatest love songs set they shot down.

- What is it like to live in your delusional world? The estate is going to make big money off P estate just like the MJ state. His catalogue sold 4 million in a month more is coming.

---The article is about last months sales not this week. He had 19 albums on the chart beating the Beatles. Since most groups or artist do not have 39 CDs I doubt this record broken.

Yeah, I don't know if it will be broken either. It's been aamzing to see the outpouring of love in the wake of April 21st.

Paul McCartney/Beatles and Bob Dylan will surely break the record.

By the way, Billboard only allow since november 2009 to chart catalogue album. When Mj died, he ranked 9 albums in the top 10 comprehensive chart. Prince ranked "only" 5, with lesser sales.

None of those artist will break P record. They have alredy had their work remastered and I am not even sure if younger people even know Bob Dylan and most of his generation his dying off. You are such a hater that you will not not acknowledge the record that Billboard is stating. Let it go.

So I want to ask which 19. But I think I can figure it out:
First 14 (For You-Symbol) + Hits 1, Hits 2, Hits/b-sides, Very Best, and Ultimate.

It's all the more impressive for Prince, given it's been over 20 years since he's really had a major Record Label pushing his music to the masses. Nor has he really had any "managers" in the traditional sense of the term. He'd kinda been managing everything on his own for the latter half of his career. MJ did things very differently, and even though he fought with Sony, he never lost major record label backing.

Change it one more time..

lol, no I'm absolutely not a hater. I just state facts, and it's always interesting to relativate things, and to compare with others. Billboard rules changed so many times that it's a trick, everybody knows that.

Dylan ranked 22 albums in the top ten, the only act to my knowledge do more than Prince. He released, like Prince, so many albums, and numerous greatest hits, live, etc. that there is a strong chance mathematically that he charts at least 19 albums in the top 200.

Same with Mccartney with the Beatles, like Prince, and like Dylan he has most of his sales in the USA.

Don't forget that the previous record was in 2014, with 14 beatles album, 5 years after the remaster releases.

Like I previously said, it's 2bad that GOLD, EMANCIPATION, MUSICOLOGY and 3121 are out of print, because they would have charted as well.
