This whole thing about pain...

I've got a bad back and sciatica in my left hip. Chiro's help the back but I can't keep running there all the time and they do nothing for the sciatica. What I foud works wonders is ice. I sleep on and ice bag, those soft things you throw in the freezer, every night all year round. It's amazing. Last year I thought I would go crazy with the pain and as long as I do this I can cross my legs again and move, walk and sit like a normal person. When my back acts up if I'm sitting I throw a bag of frozen corn or greenbeans behind it. Try it and see if it helps. Ice is free and non habit forming! Is Prince's death still being investigated or the source of the Fentanyl? It's become awfully quiet as far as any recent news on that subject. Was looking at the more recent pictures of Prince before he died...he was certainly thin and appeared to be getting thinner. He also didnt look like he felt well....and always we3aring gloves for example his 12/31/15 pix of him arriving for his NY eve's performance on the yacht More speculation here and I apologize...i am wondering if he had something like esophogeal cancer based on the comments his personal chef had to say? I agree with another poster that in time we will likely find out what exactly was behind the Fentanyl use. I do think he was experiencing withdrawal symptoms (flu and withdrawal symptoms are very similar), wanted help, and perhaps was given the Fentanyl to hold him over until help arrived. Based on the ME's report and other professional comments I've read he was not a regular user of Fentanyl. At any rate, just getting over the shock and may he be Home and in eternal peace.

his personal chef said he hadn't been eating well and complained of colds/flu like symptoms, stomach pain, sore throat, etc., for more than a few months. opioid withdrawal can cause similar symptoms. so if he wasn't eating well, he would also experience weight loss.

either way is sad, Prince gone, his music be here 4 ever. Is part of me thinking that someone should check on P the night before he pass. also the whole autopsy report was not release as is private MN. and by law they can only can release it 30 yrs from now.I am sad because he die along and not one there to call 911 early. Also the time passing it was not included in the page that was release. I know he is on heaven. a rainbow was over his paisley park in the april 21. AS fan continue to listern to his music and seeing on my dreams some time

i do miss him all over again too. i feel that was not his time and it was accidental but perhaps was his time. and more sad P was found on the Elevator and he always said the devil was in the elevator,(he told friends) the song let's go crazy talk about it. Aso P performed on Vegas at club 3121 rio and his album name. But if you add 3+1=4 and give U 4/21 the day he pass.that is something. Also the song song sometime snow on April was release 4/21 30 years ago.and lot his music Prince has many messages from the bible. On 1998 he said on 1 of his show that he has to returned to america as Osama B was going to bom america and we has 911 on 2001. Also 3121 is very important number at the end onf time. Also 3121 said God is the light on the provers. To me i always believe prince was a profect. Also a rainbow apears after prince pass at pairsley park.on the bible Bows appear again in the prophetic book of Revelation, which foretell the end of man's rule on the earth and the coming of Jesus to set up his Kindow.

Oh dear Maria, I was just telling my husband the same exact thing this morning! I was thinking about that so much when I was putting on Prince's perfume, 3121, and how these numbers add up to the day he left us. I told my husband I thought maybe he was an angel sent here for awhile, that' God gave us a special gift for some reason and he needed him to move on. Why else has his leaving us impacted so many people all around the world, hit us so hard like nobody else except the closest relative has ever made us hurt. I don't understand why this has hurt us all so deeply and the only thing I can think is that he was a special gift from God. admission is easy, just say U believe, then come 2 this place in your heart.

Well it looks like this hospital in my state is taking a tentative step toward -preventing potential opiate addIctions..

As I remember, he was missing for a few days....she and her assistant found him passed out on a couch with several bottles of empty wine around and a bottle of aspirin. He had vomited and Mayte was able to get him into a car and take him to the hospital. Her assistant called the hospital ahead to give notice.

The death certificate is a BIG LIE. Well done Minnesota. The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

Prince's community service works continue and his accidental death has shifted the medical community. There is funding legislation moving through the US Congress to improve pain management care, train physicians and nurses on opioid safety, and provide dollars for treatment and prevention. It is wild to watch.
These are fundamental changes that will improve care and access throughout the country. For the past few years there have been smaller efforts, but this new initiative will shift care. More doctors will be able to prescribe the medicine Prince was to have from the CA doctor. And those doctors will be able to use it more often (it was very limited). Medical systems are looking at ways to address the need effectively so people can receive care close to home, and increase access for everyone. You don't need to be a celebrity with deep pockets to receive care.
Another change from the DHHS recently, removes the connection between pain management patient surveys and physician payment. Pain patients hurt and if they don't recieve the opioid, complain on patient surveys that impact payment to the physician/medical system.
It is tragic that Prince lost his life in this mess, so tragic, but he certainly put the spotlight on the need for change in the medical system. President Obama sent a $1.1 billion bill to Congress to provide funding to states to address all aspects of the opioid (including addiction) crisis.
If you want this help to be available, you might send a note or call your legislators. Today. https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials

Interesting. I honestly didn't think this would have an impact. Nice to be wrong.

See this is saying 10 years ago. Others are saying he had the surgery in 2010. No one has any real knowlege.

The bullshit in the whole story is how quick the " medical industry" is using Prince as the poster child for addiction to these medications.

Nobody's ever happy. Not long ago, people were hoping this would bring attention to a growing epidemic. Now people are mad because Prince's name is being used. Whatever.

It is great if people realise that Fentanyl is not a drug to be messed with - it's fine if you use the patches as directed by a doctor for real pain but otherwise, no. What is wrong is everyone talking as if P being an addict for years is a foregone conclusion. I really don't know. He said he didn't drink and then he did. It seems he had at least tried recreational drugs. I couldn't really see him as a regular user, but I didn't know him. He didn't feel it necessary to stick to the truth in interviews and he liked to mislead people. . I wish they would stick to "Fentanyl is a killer - don't abuse it" line and quit talking about his addiction/depenedence for 10 years+ with descriptions of his double hip surgery (when he only has a scar on one hip) until we actually know what happened. . What degree of hip pain allows you to keep moving the way he did? The people I know of who have had the op were really struggling before the surgery (not bouncing around like P) but weren't taking Fentanyl before or after. It is just not necessary or helpful for someone with his level of activity. None of it makes sense and all the stories from the P camp are very confusing and contradictory.

The problem is that the whole story is spun into a narrative without the full facts being known.
The cause of death is Fentanyl overdose.
I read an article posted here that stated that the levels of fentanyl show up in blood higher after death. We know it killed him but we don't know when he took it. We know that he didn't have a prescription and that makes it a crime. The investigation up to this point has not led to any criminal charges.
I think that he was sick and that he started using these medications in regards to his sickness.

Prince was first and foremost a human being. I hope he is forgiven for being human with his flaws, errors and inperfections. I can't imagine living his life constantly being under the microscope with his every move being examined, scrutinized and critiqued. Perhaps he was deliberately misleading...so he could have a life. Yes, he signed on to some of the scrutiny since he chose to be a performer but there are such things as boundaries. I have learned not to take what people say so literally and that way they don't disappoint me or I them. Therefore, if he said he didnt drink and then drank to help with the pain of a loss of his only child...hopefully he can be forgiven since he may not want to remember that. He was also a professional. His performances were not of a drug addled musician. He held himself to high standards, and his fams held him up to even higher standards. We have no confirmed/verified proof that he was a long term drug addict or why he was taking them whether it was for an illness or to feed an addiction. Anemia can also produce similar symptoms with swallowing, weight loss and stomach problems. It doesn't take long to become addicted to opiates. Go to an open meeting of a 12 step program and listen. The investigation is still ongoing and perhaps we may find out more down the road. Unless someone finds a True Confessions of Prince as told by Prince..some things are just none of our business and we may have to learn to live with the mystery of how things got to where they did resulting in his death. There is less news about or of him which makes me a little sad and I need to get back to my life/routine pre 4/21. Thanks for letting me share.

I wasn't being critical of his drinking (I would say I don't drink but it is not 100% true - just easier to explain it like that) and whatever happened with the Fentanyl will not disappoint me - to be honest I expected much worse from my first impressions of him back in the early 80's and I was suprised how clean he was. Just because not drinking was true for him (or not) at the time I wouldn't expect him to live up to that statement forever. And if it was not true I wouldn't care either. It is better to project a clean image than not. Certainly there is nothing to forgive, we have instead a lot to be thankful for.
