I just know in my heart that he died by accident, and that he wasn't a recreational drug user or an addict. I believe he was sick somehow, or at least in a lot of pain. No matter what I'm still reeling 6 weeks later...

With all that has happened since his death and with all that is to happen. It is now time 2 heal. As "FAM" all that is left to do is celebrate Prince and all the things that resonate within each individual Spirit...all of which is joyful, giving and most of all Loving. After all that is who he was.
He left us with so much of himself that now he is gone it is up 2 us 2 keep keep Prince's Spirit alive and well on this Earth. I 4 one believe that he would have wanted it that way.
The reality is that he was human, enduring pain 4 no one seems 2 know how long and he accidently overdosed after acquiring a very dangerous opioid.
We have 2 pick up his banner now and carry on in the Spirit of Love4OneAnother. Not 2 just say it but 2 Live it.
For those who are grappling still with how could this possibly happen and for those who merely think that he was just another addict or even junkie here are 2 articles I read today from physicians who have been in the battlefields of this problem. The main thing they convey is that people r being over prescribed or even under prescribed should not be overly ridiculed. They r faced with a cross road that should not be placed b4 anyOne...do I give in and endure this disabling pain or do I medicate. Should they choose to medicate; the path may lead to the road of no return. It is then a gamble that they hope they can beat. Some do and some do not but it is not the intent not 2. Nor is the intent 2 b judged as an addict or a junkie.
I can't even imagine how much pain Prince was in but 4 him 2 make that final decision 2 self medicate with Fentynal he must have felt he had 2 because the pain was 2 unbarable. Just trust within Ur heart that music was his life...then ask who was that music 4? U n Me. He pushed himself to continue 4 US.
There is a reason why WE were on this Earth during Prince's life time. He gave us the tools and now we must put them to work.
Let's Heal We Have Work 2 Do!

Percocet and other drugs knock me out. I am completly non-functional of drugs like that. I have cut my dosage in half and ten stopped taking Percocet altogether becuase it's just too strong for me. I don't know how people function on it. But then non-drowsy daytime meds knock me on my butt too. Once I took a zanax for anxiety prior to taking a test. I fell asleep mid-testing!!

Yesterday when the news hit making his cause of death official it made me sad then angry. Angry at Prince. Yes, I know, so damn silly of me, but I kept thinking "so unavoidable!!! This man was brilliant and smart, how could he mess with these fucking dangerous drugs!!!!" Then reality hit me and I felt such sorrow and sadness for him. Our beautiful sweet Prince was in a lot of pain. For years. And kept the show going, gave us ALL HE HAD. Until the very end. Not a day doesn't go by that I don't shed a tear, or have a good cry, or sob uncontrollably. We all know someone that struggles with addiction. At the end of the day there is only so much you can do for that person. Seriously sad as this probably could have been prevented and avoided, but I don't think anyone is to blame. It's just breathtaking, the finality of it all. Rest well Prince. We love and miss you so very much.

I had to walk away from this new "info" yesterday. It was too much for me. I did not follow Prince as closely as some of you but his death was and is still heartbreaking for me. A part of my childhood died when he died. No matter if his death was accidental or a set up or whatever some of you think, I will NEVER see him as a druggie, a drug addict or whatever description some of you choose to put out there. He suffered pain, the same way some of us have. Whether it be health wise or through personal loss. His hips. His week old son died. His wifes miscarriage. His parents dying. He was divorced 2 times etc... He was human people!!! I would have to say this is what bothers me the most. People can't see past his celebrity status and see he was human. Instead of bashing the man, the genius, the musical love of our lives we should honor him. I think we can all agree that he deserves that much from us, his fams.

Exactly. Prince was performing on stage b4 the Purple Rain era"84" Like so many others have said, there is so much regarding Princes death we will never know. I am so angry and hurt at the same time. It’s sad to say there will be all kinds of stories 2 come out about him. RIP My Dear Prince. 4ever In My Life

Why the hell can't they invent an effective pain killer that's non-addictive?!!! Or maybe "they" don't want to... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

The business of pain management is driven by profits in the billions. A huge drug company, by its nature, is not in the least interested in developing less expensive natural alternatives for managing chronic pain. They put profits ahead of any other purpose.

I once took half a tablet of Oxycotin (I think) after dental surgery and went to a night class and zoned out for the whole class, nodding off. My mind was sluggish and I was slow to respond to questions. don't know how I made it home. I never took one again. In retrospect, this may shed some light on Prince declining to comment on Michael Jackson's death by saying it was "too close to him".

I appologize if I upset fans on here. I do not wish to disrespect anyone. These are just my opinions and observations. Unfortunately they are not shared nor liked on this forum. I will not post my thoughts on these matters further on this forum.

i was just thinking about this and i agree but what will happen if we toughen up on the drugs? will people just get more of them illegally? We're not sure if Prince got his stuff legitimately yet. So, I think it's us with the problem too, not just big pharma, why can't we deal with the pain of life? What do people do in other parts of the world to deal with it that we can't?

What's weird though is that most opioid painkillers are available in generic form. Last time I picked up Percocet it was like 50 cents for a shit-ton of them. And all the controlled substance regulations and limits on refills and how many pills can be dispensed at one time, etc, all stand in the way of these drugs being big money makers for the pharmaceutical industry. I mean, they're not erectile dysfunction drugs or anything! I'm not convinced it is profit per se that drives the trend. What I think is happening is that more doctors are prescribing them for more things, and more patients are expecting them for a wider range of ailments. I could be wrong. His piece is a note of caution about the dangers of opioid painkiller addiction and the benefits of the treatment methods used by his father. I don't know how anyone could read his op-ed and think he was just seeking some fleeting attention. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

Yuup and he probably thinks that he is in the clear or its damage control on his part and his dad. But this investigation isn't over and if he is not careful his "comments" might bite him in the ass. Keep Calm & Listen To Prince

Yes, and in interview, Pepe Willie said that, subsequent to that instance, Prince was mortified and declared, 'that will NEVER happen again'...
How could Prince be so sure? What did he change / decide to do that made sure of it never happening again?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Well, to digress. Dick Clark was a mega record business frontman who ate young artists for breakfast. In that interview he questioned (read chided) Prince for not signing the record deal he probably would have banked on. Prince was a beaucoup smart little fucker fo sho.
Was aquainted with Hank Ballard who is the real person who wrote and recorded "The Twist". Dick Clark"s company did not own the rights to Hank's work so he stole the song and "gave it" to Chubby Checker (no offense - a patsy). It took Hank 30 YEARS to get the rights back to The Twist. It came very late in his life and only happened because the master tape reel showed up in the company archives and someone (good samaritan) sent it to him. For true - look it up.
Sorry for the history lesson.

Why would any 'powers that be' wait until the Copyright Revision Act of 1976 started taking effect for Prince's catalog of music back in 2013-2014? That makes no sense whatsoever. Please see article and look up the Act. http://www.billboard.com/...um-coming.
The powers that be had 35 years to figure something out. I do not believe Prince's death was a conspiracy. The law already started rolling in his favor. It's just up to his family and lawyers now to see everything through. Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

Thanks for the back up. My "version" comes straight from the horse's mouth. Hank went through a lot, even at the end of his life when he was a practicing Buddhist. If you ever caught a Midnighters SHOW you would be an absoulute fam for life, just like Princey-pie (my pet name). Both men ruled without question.. Dick Clark did a lot for Rock and Roll but he was an asshole, I never liked the way he treated people. And,as I've said, I heard that prince intentionally acted wierd according to Dez, it was planned, and yes, i've also seen the Pepe Willie interview about it where he says it was stage fright. I saw it when it first aired, it was the first time laying eyes on the man who would change my life, the whole family was rivetted by this wierdo, I said "he's either gay or high or both", I think Prince knew how to get attention insinctively and it worked. I've watched bandstand many times, I couldn't even tell you who else was even on it, i can't remember, but Prince's appearance is crystal clear as though it happened yesterday. Man was smart.
