No he isn't. He is resting. He is dead. He is no longer a part of the drama of this life.

Dvr'd this and decided to read the 'Org reviews' first before watching. That said, I expected to not b moved much or disdaining the entire performance...Instead, i found myself bawling as soon as Madonna started to sing. No matter that she didnt sound fantastic or the songs that were chosen. She did an admirable job considering her mediocre talent..And in the end, 'her' tribute(not the definitive one by any stretch) accomplished its purpose, it was incredibly moving. Forget Madonna. What was up with the long reel of cemetery photos and "DEATH" in the background?!? who let something like that happen?! Is that normal for these tributes?! They surely could have found more photos of Prince. For me, that was the shocking unforgivable part.

I think her arrangement and the instrumental parts sounded like Sinead's version. She had no emotion in her voice and that song is powerful, she did it no justice. Those tears were fake, Stevie Wonder could have seen that (bad joke I know) A poor example of a tribute to any artist, very self/centered.

how can you judge if she had no emotion. Get over it. This is all your persona issue reflected onto her. Like the tribute or not, you cannot judge her heart.

LeAnn Rimes???? How random is that??? What is her connection to him? I pray BET will come to their senses...I'm sooooo tired of people butchering PR! It was incredibly sad to see how the BBMA chose to honor him with that tired @ss performance. I would have preferred the Questlove speech, a moment of silence and a video montage with his music playing in the background. Name: Arabia

The whole tone was off. A tribute should be a celebration or a party, which I'm sure is what BET has planned. This was a funeral procession with Madonna struggling vocally.

My only issue with this tribute was the Montage behind Madonna, the pics were amazing, but the cemetary stuff really was not cool in my eyes. We know the man has died, but that was morbid and also felt very much like the "COME" album photos, but Prince was not even buried nor using religious symbols again, too much. As for the performance I cant fault the 3 for doing it, Quest was/is a big fan and friend, Stevie was Prince's influence and always spoke of him, he loved that man probably more than any other influence. And Madonna, again she will get the hate, but honestly I would rather Madonna do it than Beyonce. I have a strange feeling that Beyonce is going to be doing something for him at the Grammy show, I know its eons away but you know how they do things. If you read the post correctly, I didn't say that. Someone who responded said that.

Two issues: 1. He hated the Sinead O'Connor version and she did it anyway. 2. He no longer believed in crosses and she wore crosses as part as her outfit. I question how much she "knew" Prince given that she did those two things. Perhaps she knew him once before, but anyone that is close to him would no not to do either of those two things. I think bashing her performance because of her talent is unfair. She is who she is and we knew she was not going to be Esperanza Spalding up there. She did her best. But, she should have done her research.
