He wasn't a long time user or recently hooked. Per TMZ - he "recently suddenly spiked" his dosage. Sounds like code for deliberate OD to me. What do you call it if there's no note? How does suicide affect insurance?

This is something that bugs me. If he ODd only 6 days before and if that was accidental, why wasn't it a big wake up call for him and his friends? How come after something major like that nobody sticks around to make sure nothing happens and why does Prince want to be all alone when he nearly died 6 days earlier?

The oft-repeated tale about him joining Michael Jackson and James Brown on stage always came with the detail that he was supposedly high at the time.

Someone who was tight with the James Brown camp confirmed that Prince had some cocaine with James' band before that show. I believe they did that on this site actually.

Anything's possible, but if you watch the video of that event, it's pretty clear that MJ is the only one on stage who has a clue who Prince is...

Kirk may not be the only enabler. I've talked to someone who used to be in Prince's inner circle many many years ago where drugs was in use back then and it wasnt a surprise to this person.

PLUS...Another person I never trusted in Prince's inner circle was Josh. Terrible producer. Are they investigating him also?

WTF?!? How does being a terrible producer make one untrustworthy or a person of interest for investigation? lol lol lol

Why don't we just blame Tony M...

Way too much speculation going around. No one knows what happened. Why not wait for the results of the investigation? It's becoming like a 'Who done it'' show with all the speculation going around. It doesn't make sense pointing fingers and blaming certain people who were around Prince to soothe the grieving process. I think everyone should try to calm down a bit.

Just a guess, but I suspect Kirk was Prince's ultimate "yes" man.

Prince obvioulsy wasn't going to the pharmacy to pick up his prescriptions himself (although we saw he did recently), so he probably used Kirk to get them for him (which may have been illegal!? I don't know)

It's not illegal to have someone pick up a prescription for you.

One of my best friends and a couple of family members are down as 'approved collectors' with my local pharmacy, as there are times when I am too busy or sick to pick up my regular meds.

I would imagine this would be the same for Prince.

One minute they want peace……

Then do everything to make it go away. rolleyes

Exactly, the situation was so dire that you have to divert your plane even though you're only 48 mins From your destination . After this happened prince seemed to carry in his life as normal. The whole thing is a mess

sad

Why is it we never heard "Drug Stories," about Prince until he died? Surely if he was using for years someone would have leaked it long before now. People should not blame anyone, until there is solid proof of wrong doing or any type of criminal element.

Next thing you know, people will be reporting that Prince had drugs smuggled inside purple banannas so no one would notice.

there have been exstacy and coke stories about Prince before

Um, I've done plenty of "blow" (which you always snort, not smoke. Crack is what gets smoked) and I've also watched that video. And in no way do I "know" or is it possible to tell that Prince was high. I really wish people would stop positing conjecture as fact. So boring.

COUNTERINTELLIGENCE PROGRAM
BLACK NATIONALIST - HATE GROUPS
RACIAL INTELLIGENCE 3/4/68

[...]

GOALS
~~~~~
For maximum effectiveness of the Counterintelligence Program, and to prevent wasted effort, long-range goals are being set.
1. Prevent the COALITION of militant black nationalist groups. In unity there is strength; a truism that is no less valid for all its triteness. An effective coalition of black nationalist groups might be the first step toward a real "Mau Mau" [Black revolutionary army] in America, the beginning of a true black revolution.
2. Prevent the RISE OF A "MESSIAH" who could unify, and electrify, the militant black nationalist movement. Malcolm X might have been such a "messiah;" he is the martyr of the movement today. Martin Luther King, Stokely Carmichael and Elijah Muhammed all aspire to this position. Elijah Muhammed is less of a threat because of his age. King could be a very real contender for this position should he abandon his supposed "obedience" to "white, liberal doctrines" (nonviolence) and embrace black nationalism. Carmichael has the necessary charisma to be a real threat in this way.
3. Prevent VIOLENCE on the part of black nationalist groups. This is of primary importance, and is, of course, a goal of our investigative activity; it should also be a goal of the Counterintelligence Program to pinpoint potential troublemakers and neutralize them before they exercise their potential for violence.
4. Prevent militant black nationalist groups and leaders from gaining RESPECTABILITY, by discrediting them to three separate segments of the community. The goal of discrediting black nationalists must be handled tactically in three ways. You must discredit those groups and individuals to, first, the responsible Negro community. Second, they must be discredited to the white community, both the responsible community and to "liberals" who have vestiges of sympathy for militant black nationalist simply because they are Negroes. Third, these groups must be discredited in the eyes of Negro radicals, the followers of the movement. This last area requires entirely different tactics from the first two. Publicity about violent tendencies and radical statements merely enhances black nationalists to the last group; it adds "respectability" in a different way.
5. A final goal should be to prevent the long-range GROWTH of militant black organizations, especially among youth. Specific tactics to prevent these groups from converting young people must be developed. [...]
TARGETS
~~~~~~~

Primary targets of the Counterintelligence Program, Black Nationalist-Hate Groups, should be the most violent and radical groups and their leaders. We should emphasize those leaders and organizations that are nationwide in scope and are most capable of disrupting this country. These targets, members, and followers of the:

Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC)
Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC)
Revolutionary Action Movement (RAM)
Nation of Islam (NOI)

Offices handling these cases and those of Stokely Carmichael of SNCC, H. Rap Brown of SNCC, Martin Luther King of SCLC, Maxwell Stanford of RAM, and Elijah Muhammed of NOI, should be alert for counterintelligence
suggestions. [...]

i hate to don the foil, but this keeps bothering me. he spoke out about freddie gray.he spoke about chemtrails. he spoke about income inequality. he wanted people off drugs, living a clean and empowered life. he didn't want to suck down bigpharmas solution to everything. he just won a multiyear battle with wb and got his stuff back. he was embarking on a unique and compelling tour which could have been the start of an even more reflective and politically outspoken phase of his career.

and now he is dead. with a vault full of music and no will.

i find it all a little too convenient for the many who will profit big.
