Those are both brutal. Venus de Milo and Condition of the Heart are tough for me.

The vocals were spot on. It was sad, mainly because he was paying tribute to Mr. Bowie. I hope they release that. It would be very nice to hear a cleaner recording. To hear the woman in the crowd yell, "I Love you." is really sweet

I tried to listen to it last night because I thought I was ready to listen to it. But I wasn't and I cried myself to sleep. Its one of my favorite songs and I think its going to be a long time before I can listen to it again without sobbing and being depressed for the rest of the day/night

The saddest ones. I hope in time I can listen to them again. But not now. sad Some old and dear friends from decades ago I can listen to. But some I can't. I hope it's not like with watching David Bowie's video "Lazarus"--a too graphic personal depiction of a man's struggle with death. I'll never be able to watch that one again. Too raw and real.

I would die 4 U
Purple rain
Let's go crazy
When doves cry
1999
Little red corvette
Raspberry beret
Nothing compares 2 U

All these iconic songs really hurt for me at the moment
They literally sound like a piece of him

In retrospect, it's been rather startling how many times he's referred to death and dying in his songs throughout the years. Violet the Organ Grinder came on during my shuffle today, and hearing the "I'll die but I won't go away" verse knocked me back for a second.

I'd always considered that as one of his more inoccuous, throwaway songs and I'd never given that verse a second thought before.

Dig if U will the picture of U and Marvin Gaye and the kids.

Yeah Still Would Stand All Time ("who is the fool singin' will"? wink) hits hard, as does that Heroes cover he did.

These beautiful songs now make me super sad ...

  • It's Gonna Be Lonely (Prince album)
  • Another Lonely Christmas (single/B-side? forgot)
  • She Gave Her Angels (i think Crystal Ball)
  • Saviour (Emancipation)
  • Until U're In My Arms Again (New Power Soul)
  • Open Book (unreleased? dunno)
  • Last December (The Rainbow Children)

fuck me, I will never get over this ...

I think that is the greviving process, maybe you should talk to someone you love about how you feel. I have had more conversations about Prince in the last week than I ever had before. Trust me, as strange as it sounds it really helps.

I have a close friend who is also a major Prince fan and its helping. As much as I wish that its not real, its starting to sink in that he is not around. I would like to think that he is in Hawaii or somewhere nice finally taking a nice vacation

His last three physical CDs are arriving tomorrow. sad I already had the digital copies but had ordered the physical ones. I plan on sitting down and listening to all three consecutively. AOA I know very well; the other two Hit'nruns, I do not. We'll see how far I make it...

You ordered them. Phase I, II and AOA? Where?

I've been hoping Phase II would show up in stores here but I haven't seen it.

Even through Prince didn't write or sing this song. Song about by Wendy and Lisa about the break up of the Revolution has taken on a whole new meaning. Just listening to the lyrics is truly heartbreaking.

They've got them on Amazon right now for around $11 each with free two day shipping.

I got Phase II today at Barnes and Noble. It was the last copy. I can't listen to Holy River, Purple Rain or The Breakdown yet. I saw 3rdeyegirl in Las Vegas. One night he opened with it, and it seemed like nobody even noticed that he was on stage yet. I thought it was odd. At the time, I did not realize it was The Breakdown. The next song was Let's Go Crazy. And, of course, the crowd suddenly paid attention. Sometimes I wonder if this kind of thing bothered him.

Not wishing to be tasteless, but am surprised no one's mentioned The Undertaker, as the lyrics would be hard for me to listen to at the moment sad

I listened to 'The Truth' album last night. besides 'one of your tears' and 'comeback' playing back to back late these lyrics to'3rd Eye' really stood out for me:

Ultimately the only one

That can save u is u

Your God is inside and 4 that God U will do

Whatever it takes

If nothing else is true

the only one that can save U is U, yeah
