The Gold Experience? To me, The Gold Experience has a few quite strong songs from after-80's Prince. Gold Shhh Eye Hate U (Billy Jack Bitch) . Does anyone have any idea why this album is not to be found on Tidal (for example)? [Edited 4/28/16 12:03pm]

Pussy Control has been my ringtone for months. I would love to know where the full video for it is and not the fashion show performance. As for tidal, everything about that site is weird. Gold Experience is probably not on tidal due to licensing issues.

Awesome album, I played the crap out of this when It came out, Endorphinmachine, Eye Hate U, and Gold was my favs from it.
Wow, just checked Amazon, least inexpensive copy is $50!! Best Buy doesn't even list it. Glad I still my original......... [Edited 4/28/16 12:14pm]

Yeah, hands down the best post '88 release from P . I love every song on it, even Dolphin which some find to be the weakest . The highest points for me are Gold (in the words of P, the Purple Rain of the 90's ) the funkiness of We March the sexyness of Shhh how he literally SCREAMS HIS LUNGS OUT on Endorphinmachine and on "Now" the funny/comical bits in "Eye Hate You" lol, Billy Jack Bitch Prince's underrated rapping on Pussy Control (still think P's raps sound cool, i don't know bout y'all) . and last but not least, the big single "The Most Beautiful Girl In the World" and if u haven't heard it yet, please check out The Beautiful Experience remixes . Really, really great release from P. Shame physicals have been discontinued and it's not even available for streaming. YOu shouldn't miss this record. Like he/she said above, its the Sign o the Times of the 90's

Co-sign, his best album of the 90s if you ask me. And could have been better had Days of Wild been included. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

Great CD. I never understood why it's been out of print for so long. Used copies cost $80 on Amazon

I've heard someone say it before on here, but it is the Purple Rain of the 90s. Big anthemic title track, rocker opener (if you skip "P Control"), 3rd song ballad, etc etc. It has a lot of funk & soul, but also has a purposeful AOR sound to it as well, which would appeal to a white audience. It's truly a journey to listen to that album front to back. I think it's underrated and often forgotten in the realms of Prince history. But it definitely stands to be seen for the brilliance on it. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

My best tip for people into Prince is to work your way up to 92, and then find The Dawn 4.1 bootleg. . A really incredible fan-made bootleg, a guy on here made it, that compiles the best of 93-95 onto three cds. Really great versions, great flow, great editing.

Probably his best album after the 1980's, with several vintage tracks throughout the album -- "endorphinmachine," "Shhh," "Shy," and " Hate U." [Edited 4/28/16 13:48pm] Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

It was one of my fave P albums the first time around, still one of my fave P albums this time around
Gold IS Purple Rain 2.0.
While this time around I still don't know exactly what happened between P and CJ I love Billy Jack Bitch, it's my fave song from the album. Holy fu- I almost forgot about Endorphinmachine! Ugh okay, I don't know which song is my favorite from the album now. That song goes haaaaaard.
I love that TGE is a mix of funk and rock. I am a fan of most kinds of music but I can never stick to one genre specifically so it's no wonder Prince appealed to me as an artist from such a young age. This is why I love this man so much, he is a chameleon and always opted for change and always wanted to experiment and I'm really the same way so it's no wonder he became my favorite artist of all time. Even after my obsession with P was done years ago I would still mention him as my favorite artist when someone would ask me. That's how special he was and he still is to me. I would consider myself between an "enthusiast" and a "hardcore" fan now but I think I'm leaning more towards hardcore so that's what I put on my profile lol [Edited 4/29/16 0:47am] "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

This is a most incredible album! I've loved it so much from day one. . To me, all tracks are exceptional. Gold is amazing and also seems like a Purple Rain part 2. . The instrumental outro on P Control is just out of this world. . I like all of the NPG Operator interludes. This did bring together very nicely the interactive nature of multimedia around that time. . The TV special and the VH1 special make this era one of the best. . Thank goodness we have this album in our lives!!! .

If you take the best from Come Test Pressing and Gold Experience, then you have a superb album but the released version of each of them never totally did it for me. Kind of bad to be a fan sometimes when you hear better versions of the songs before they are released on albums. Endorphinmachine is a great example...no cowbell. .

There was so much great material... Some hard choices had to be made. Sacrificing Acknowledge Me and Ripopgodazzippa to other tracks? Ouch! DOW? Ouch! Making a decision between having the original Interactive/NPG Operator opening, which made the album more cohesive vs. P Control which is the best opener ever: ouch! And also putting Interactive aside because it didn't work back to back with Endorphinmachine and the last one is better: ouch! Hard calls to make, honestly! Hard to say what would have been the best choices. What always suprised me is that it seems Love Sign was never even considered for the album when it had been kind of a summer airplay-only hit in 94. I love almost every minute of it, I just wish Dolphin had a softer chorus - I listen to it for the verses. ** do something, before we're gone , and we're just a rock where a world went wrong...**

The more stripped down version of Gold on the 10.000 Wallpaper bootleg is one of my favorite Prince songs. So fucking great. "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

boris fishpaw is the orger you're referring to, great project he put together indeed . The Gold Experience is a very strong body of work, probably his best release in the 90s. the segues haven't aged well but that was to be expected

A classic five star album. We March is the only weakspot. Best track for me is either Gold or Dolphin. Can't believe some people don't like the latter - news to me.

One of my fave albums by anyone. The only thing I don't like are the segues. But the songs are funky, fun, and still sound good.
THIS is the vinyl I am dying for.

I still play this CD all the time. I was going through a break up during this time (a silly teenage one) and that song Eye Hate U was on REPEAT, okay? lol Other favorite songs for me are:
Billy Jack Bitch Dolphin
Also, these days when I listen to it, I can't help but think of poor Nona Gaye. He dogged that girl out lol She was singing her poor little heart out on this album.
Really his best album of the 90s IMHO [Edited 4/29/16 6:53am] Have U had your + today?
