The video for "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man", especially when he hits the gutar solo. 1987-1993 was my peak of fandom. Sometimes I wish I never looked him up on the Internet and learned what an ass he could be to people. It ruined it for me.

I hear you. But I'm not sure it's easy to be Prince.

Simply watching the promo video for Raspberry Beret on German Formel 1 show in 1985. It made "click" and something in me changed, making me a life-long fan.

He pointed at me, and threw one of those Prince symbols to me in the balcony, I was wearing a very bright cabbage head T-shirt. I caught it!!!! Man was that brothers aim ever accurate. I would still be in therapy to this day if I missed that catch.

I have more than one:

1 - Milan, 06/07/1987 - Very first time at a Prince concert, I was in the second row, very close to the stage (in the front row I remember seeing Mick Hucknall and other VIPs).

He starts playing "forever in my life"...in the meantime I had moved past the VIPs and I was standing just behind the "gate", and of course I started singing along. At a certain point, we made eye contact, just before he slightly changed the lyrics (You are my hero, you are my future instead of the other way around) and of course I was singing the original version. He winked with a wry smile and looked at me like "I gotcha". My heart went BOOM BOOM.

2 - London Wembley arena 1988 - I had to meet some friends outside the arena in the afternoon, before the show. my friends were chatting between them when I saw a little bus approaching very slowly and then stop. It was full of people outside and the bus was waiting for security to clean the entrance to get in. Without saying a word to my friends I start to casually stroll in that direction, like I was minding my own business. I came close enough to see all the band members and him sitting in the back facing the back of the bus, I stood there for like 5 minutes pretending I wasn't there but looking every once in a while with the corner of my eye. He never turned nor looked outside. He seemed very much into his own thoughts. Of course my heart went BOOM BOOM again.

3 - I used to be a member of alt.music. prince back in the days. I rememeber there was a thread about beliefs, Love4oneanother, Love is God or smth like that wink . I had written something, I don't remember what, and at a certain point a member went into a private conversation with me asking: "Do you believe?" I answered smth like "I believe in the power of nature, for me nature represents God". The answer was "You're touched". I feel stupid to say this, but while reading those words I could hear his voice in my head saying them. I remember I started shivering and wrote "Do you really think I am?" and the answer was "Yes you are". Then the connection went down sad, you know, we were in the old days. Some days later I looked in a thread where ppl were asking themselves if Prince chatted there, and someone said it was the guy with whom I had talked. As far as I know it could be anyone, but I really felt like it could have been him.

wow..too many. However..during the ONA tour he got me up on stage..did the guitar solo thing & I got hug him, shake his hand , look him in the eyes & tell him I love him. I know he's had fans on stage many times over the years but at this sad time that memory is a huge comfort.

Loving this thread! It lessens the sting knowing so many people are left with great personal experiences!

Long time fan here, even longer resident of the GTA. I narrowed it down to my funniest experience.

Long story, but a doozy. Back when Prince lived in Tdot he was unsurprisingly enamored with night clubs, my favourite being CLounge. I was going to these clubs long before Prince called Toronto his second home, but I admit that occasionally I would get the "heads up Prince is on the prowl" notice through a yahoo.mail fan group.

It was One Night Alone era @ Fluid Lounge, I had situated myself at the end of the bar, which happened to be close to the side entrance, because there was just enough room to breathe (we were packed in like sardines!) An hour & 2 very achy dancing feet later, 2 staff members stroll through said side door & Prince brushes past me with another 2 people in tow that I didn't recognize. I wasn't phased by this because seeing him around town wasn't unusual, but DAMN could that man make an entrance, well dressed! He had a double breasted black suit with red tie on, channeling Sammy Davis Jr. no doubt.

My first reaction in my head was, "Yes! Let's get this party started!" Prince & crew went straight for the couches at the end of the room only a few feet away from me, where I noticed bottles of wine were waiting. Said couches needed to be reserved so I guess you could consider them being in the VIP section, but there was nothing dividing the room besides a step up & a row of chairs & a wide column. Everyone just kind of respected the area.

I also tried to be discreet to respect his privacy. Occasionally I would crack & casually look to see what he was up to. I remember at one point being in stitches over something my friend had said & I randomly made eye contact with a smirking Prince while I was caught up laughing in the moment. Otherwise, he just sat there like a hawk...saying NOTHING to even his friends. He just deadpan stared at us, perhaps he wanted the shoe to be on the other foot? ha I was like, "Is something on my face?" This went on for half an hour, at least. Finally I couldn't take it anymore so I sat down & turned my back to him. Next thing I knew a staff member was leaning in behind me with his hands on my chair saying, "Miss, Prince wants to..." I prematurely finish the sentence in my delusional little head, "Break the silence, finally?!" But he continued with, "Leave... so he needs you to move."

I love that he just assumed I knew who the hell Prince was, lol. This guy didn't waste any time unceremoniously ejecting me from my chair. Then there's Prince walking through this absurdly tiny space between other chairs, even though the logical thing to do would have been to take the damn opening & step down, that was made more convenient by design, not to mention he could have just moved one of the many empty chairs. But that wouldn't be Prince, eh. razz

I would have construed it as rude but as this was happening, I kid you not, Prince looked directly up at me with a playful smirk before coolly exiting the door. After, I could scarcely do anything but laugh. I know I quipped back with, "Chivalry is on vacation, eh?" I have always wondered if he actually heard me. lol

*edited because I remembered the name of the club! Go brain, go!

I've already posted this is another thread (a much longer version of it). My Prince moment was being asked on stage by the man himself and be guided by the hand from the audience to get on stage, then having him watch me dance whilst he played his guitar next to me and walked all around me, all this at the end of an amazing aftershow in London on 13th September 2007. Imprinted in my heart and memory forever.

Philadelphia.....We are waiting to go in the show at The Academy of Music....there we see Prince running across the street with a bodyguard....still waiting...Prince comes back with salad in hand and thru the window holds a tomato up offering it to me thru the glass with a smile.

Atlantic City.....I'm in the 5th row....he looks right at me with the look of: " What should I play?"....I motion with my hands " She's Always in My Hair"....BAM he played the whole thing.

Tampa Bay....Aftershow....I'm staring at Rhonda Smith looking at her up & down...I was down front....Prince on keyboards just above to my right....I hear " Tampa Bay is this where you come when you want to get funky??".....I kept staring at Rhonda...she was not noticing my looks....then I hear Prince say the same thing but this time like he was mad starting with " I SAID TAMPA BAY...." I felt many eyes on me....slowly I turned to Prince and there he was hands on his hips staring at me WAITING for my reply.....whoops he caught me staring at Rhonda....I kinda froze and since I am from Philly I smiled and shook my head NO.....he acted mad went back to the mic and said " Well it's Funky now".......Proof is....I have the CD for that aftershow and it is on there.

After those times no matter where...Las Vegas/ Philly....I always managed to get close and he always recognized me with either a complete stop and stare or smile and look.....I'm not one for the hits I much prefer the non hits songs...he always noticed me.....easy to do when no one around you knows songs like Face Down etc.

Oh....forgot....Las Vegas....I noticed a guitar to the side of the stage on a stand....took the chance....maybe he will come and grab it....I still needed my revenge for the Tampa Bay freeze....sure enough about a quarter of the way into the show here he comes to get it....we make eye contact....as he reaches for the guitar...I yell " YO U SEXY MUTHA FUKER!!!!"....he puts this look of shock on his face ...hand to his heart and keeps everyone waiting while he was messing with me....before he walked away...looked at me and smiled....whole thing was funny and with his back turned to the crowd it was just a him and I thing.
