gatorgirl said: Stephiep76 said: I'm sorry to correct you on this board but you're wrong. Percocet is ABSOLUTELY strong enough to OD someone and ESPECIALLY someone weighing 100 lbs. Just do a Google search of percocet overdose and you'll see an epidemic in healthcare right now. And no, the acetaminophen is not the strongest part of it, the oxycodone is. Acetaminophen and disease interaction is completely a random thing and not often a huge problem. Releasing the body immediately after autopsy for cremation or burial is standard, maybe you've never had to go through this but it is. I work in healthcare so I kinda know what I am talking about. The maximum oxycodone content is 10 mg in a Percocet tablet. Compare that to OxyContin that is dosed around 40 mg twice daily, for most on that medication. Percocet is usually used for pain on an as needed basis. I don't know what his weight was but weight has nothing to do with it it has to do with tolerance. The Tylenol component is the more worrisome component because of liver toxicity if someone consistently takes more than 4000 mg a day. Even if he took two Percocet tablets he would have been okay. I see people started on fentanyl 25 mcg with no tolerance to pain medications and they are fine. Fentanyl is 80 times more powerful than morphine. This OD stuff isn't making sense. Polypharmscy is more of an issue and there is no evidence he was taking numerous medications. You "work in healthcare"? Are you a practitioner? Oh okay because I am. Oxycodone will kill you. Acetaminophen will hurt your liver CHRONICALLY and you're not going to drop dead overnight from it. Period. I'm not going to argue with someone who is quoting googled numbers and obviously not speaking from clinical experience. [Edited 4/29/16 14:25pm]

Those are pertinent questions you make. 2. Him being ill for a while and having no will does not compute for me. 3. Perhaps that was the whole idea, not going to the same doctor?
That article by his personal chef (bless him, the man and his wife really seemed to care for him and were very respectful) made me think that perhaps he died on the 20th. As for the ilness: it does not necessarily have to be aids. His hip and ankle problems must have been tremendous. He changed his shoes and started using a cane. He must have been in agony. My sister suffers from chronic neck and back pain and her activity levels have came down a lot in the last few years. She's very tired all the time and in constant pain, no matter what position she is in. So yes, perhaps that was enough of an "ilness" to make him dependant on those meds like we now realize he must have been (undestandably so, I've seen my sister suffer tremendously) and to seem not himself to others.

If... "was already in rigor mortis when officers responded" why would CPR be attempted? That doesn't make sense to me.

even paramedics get starstruck i guess. they damn near killed michael twice trying to bring him back. Bruce Lee too. Elvis was so blue a medic thought he was black and wondered why people were doing cpr on someone that was so obviously dead. Desperation, panic, the surrealness of the situation all trump training.

he sacrificed himself on his own altar. living up to our expectations and to his own image of himself. taking pills for chronic pain even while dancing around on stage all carefree for us. i had NO idea he was in such pain. no idea he was suffering alone. the weight of his crown must have been terrible

i'm ashamed of my curiosity, i've been to this thread more than once. i'm looking for reassurance or closure, something that would explain why i thought he was okay but then he turned up deceased. but it's not here. only more questions. [Edited 4/29/16 17:11pm]

No need to be ashamed. It is more a mixture of curiousity and care. Natural.

it's breaking my heart, all the eccentricities he was known for, ultimately lead to his death. he was suffering alone and if only he'd had feet of clay maybe someone could have helped him through this health crisis. but, he was solid marble, head to toe. he lived and died for his art. it's a classic tragic arc. but, i thought he was immortal....

The article with the chef was very sincere and I think is pivotal to thw time line.
I agree with your point about not going to the same doctor. It is a very dangerous game though.
I am dumbfounded by the lack of will but maybe Prince just did not worry about it? I don't know.
I hope as things are released, these questions I have have some form of an answer.
Lastly, I will say that I do not believe his illness is AIDS. I believe it is fatigue from the chronic pain and possible meds. I truly feel, his body just gave out. Again speculation not rumors.
I do not think he was an addict. I think he use the meds as a last resort. WHich may explain why he "OD".

I don't think you need closure. You wrote two posts earlier so well what was going on in his world, and I think this is all we need to know. This is the best closure we can get, a new glimpse of his mindset. I am so not interested in the autopsy reports as this is not bringing Prince back. It's just for the media outlets. Strangely I don't give a shit about the vault either. I mean what good is the music for if Prince can't perform it live? This was what it was all about, waiting to see him live. He was no studio artist, so really who cares.
I realise I am a little angry, maybe it will get better. All the folks posting his stuff on youtube. Let me ask you: Why are you doing this knowing Prince hated it? Why don't you just show some respect it's only been a week.Geez. Prince I will always miss and love U.

first laugh i've had here in a while. you silly! what are YOU doing here then scolding me? ahhh. the org. i guess i'm angry too. i want answers. that's why i'm doing it. i'm drawn to the org because it's where i hang out online, but the ONLY forum open right now is here. and the ONLY threads right now are all strange, and about prince's demise one way or another.

Exactly. Theoretically Prince was death on day of the emergency landing. Between then and 21 not much happened except in Prince's mind. He was too frantic instead of letting go and resting, too upset about that incident, too busy with everything. Everybody knew Atlanta was too soon for him, but in his mind he was in hurry like everything else he was in and to cover all this shit up. He was helpless. Prince I will always miss and love U.

About youtube I was not specifically referrering to you. I just noticed too many stuff are out there and it upsets me so much. Just cause Prince can't defend his music does not mean you can do what you want with it. In a few days time all the wacko fans will be flooding with comments and I don't want to read stuff like that. Prince was right about these fools.
I have no idea where we are going from here. There is no guide left to guide me through purple rain and I begin dislike/hate everybody who is trying to benefit from him.
LOL. I am clearly in an angry state.

oh, sorry i got it wrong. i'm still not 100% over this. i'm feeling the same way. really disturbed about all of this. it's a shock to my system and my outlook on life. it's such a dang tragic waste. just.... does not compute.

http://www.msn.com/en-us/music/celebrity/what-killed-prince-search-warrant-served-on-singers-pharmacy/ar-BBsrifH?ocid=spartanntp
... MZ has reported that authorities are really interested in the singer's medical records, specifically in his potential intake of Percocet, which it reports he overdosed on just a few days prior to his death. They're also looking for other prescriptions in Prince's name or identifiable aliases. Investigators are also looking for other pharmacies that Prince may have used, as well as doctors who perhaps prescribed him medication. In the week after his death, many credible media outlets have floated the idea that Prince died on April 21 perhaps from an overdose.
TMZ, who broke the news of Prince's death, said on April 29 that the iconic singer was able to get his supply of prescription drugs from more than one doctor, and at least one of them was a "personal friend." If he was addicted to prescription painkillers, as some believe, it's all too likely that he doctor shopped and had more than one medical professional prescribing him pills. Percocet and similar painkillers are a controlled substance, and a single doctor who prescribes an excessive number of pills will be flagged by state and federal authorities.

I agree. no shame in having AIDS, or any other illness. Prince's situation is uinque to most though. His music, sort of maybe promoted promiscuity in the 80's. If he had AIDS, I think the public should know, given the sexual nature of his music and how it might lead future generations to just kind of know the other side of things are real too, if he really had it. For me already, just knowing he might have had it, I view his music differently.

What's your opinion on the youtube situation? Maybe I am being too hard, but how can posting of concert recordings on utube be an honorouble tribute if people damn well know this was not his vision? Soon there will be random ass mixers butchering his music followed by other random ass folks doing voice over on his music. Is this what ppl want to see en masse? Random ass folks posting nonsensical comments? We don't need youtube to share his music, we always had other ways to share them - avoiding random ass folks.

well, i'm wondering why his attorneys aren't doing a better job of squelching things. but, i'm guessing they're on it and are having trouble keeping up. . my opinion is i think it's pretty disrespectful to "pay tribute" to prince by posting clips that he would have forbidden online. . but, the majority of casual fans wouldn't really see it this way. they won't really know his quirky the way we all do. . i think it will all eventually be removed, and in the meantime will lead to an explosion of interest, which will lead to more sales. . because it's a tribute, immediately following his death, i sort of get it why people are abusing his wishes in such a way. but i don't think it's cool. . then again, his music has sold out overnight, and people are still wanting to hear it. they can listen on youtube for now . i see both sides. for this week, i think it's almost okay [Edited 4/29/16 18:14pm]

Then you know many abuse these drugs in ways people would never imagine. They literally shoot crushed tablets or fentanyl powder into their veins. Percocet is strong compared to tramadol and acetaminophen with codeine but is not near as powerful as fentanyl or OxyContin 80mg. These are things people sometimes accidentally overdose on as you know. Most issues from overdose happen from either polypharmacy or pure abuse like I mentioned above. Norco is very similar to Percocet, but Norco is the most popular by far. Percocet really is not used that much anymore. The vast majority of patients taking Norco never have issues and the majority are on other medications, be it other pain medications or anxiety or sleeping medications. As for googling anything, no, I am speaking from experience and education. Someone taking Percocet should not be dropping dead, unless you are assuming he took much more than was prescribed and I do not think he would do that.

I wonder if some calls were made due to guests having issues? I know years ago some folks fainted from the heat.

Good points. I already noticed videos are taken down by labels and such. I do believe orgers are amongst utubers. It's very uncool. It's also uncool to supply new members that may be on fb groups and such with bootlegs. They get the freebies and leave the groups. These folks are not fans.
Anyway, for this week, as you say it's almost ok. Next week I will begin reporting all the videos to utube. Prince I will always miss and love U.

Honestly, I find this attitude of fans policing other fans pretty ridiculous and uncool as well. Let the record labels and attorney's do the job they're paid to do. [Edited 4/30/16 15:21pm]

prince was smarter than us, he proved it many times, maybe he wanted that stuff out after he died, i can't see him doing all of that just to sit around after he passed. He thought bigger than us. I doubt if every scrap in the vault is a gem but there will be more than enough great footage to keep us interested for a long time (future listeners too, after we're all gone).
