That's not a church it's the chapel of the funeral home.

I'm glad his sister respected his wishes. I think the James Brown situation after he died probably made him make the decision to not have his death linger in lieu of celebrations and fancy funerals.

James and Mike. One thing is for sure Prince kept his life private and I always loved him for that...none of that nonsense. I wish strength for Tyka and her kids they will need it to withstand all the vultures that are lurking.

I know you all hate him but personally I find it very consoling that close friend Larry Graham attended to the service.

That picture hand in hand with Sheila makes my cry again.

And I find it consoling that Tyka did as he wanted wether I like it or not.

This gives me hope that his heritage will be managed in a dignifying way.

Prince's final journey: Photo shows rock star's ashes carried to waiting car after secret cremation

World Exclusive: The 57-year-old had told his family he wanted "no drama" and instead insisted on a quiet service

He was adored by millions of fans but music icon Prince was always determined that his final exit would echo the way he lived life - away from the spotlight.

While thousands of fans flocked to his home to pay their respects after he died on Thursday, the rock star’s family were already carrying out his funeral plan.

And on Friday, as the world continued to mourn his death, the Purple Rain singer was secretly cremated after his family followed his wishes that there "be no drama".

World exclusive pictures in the Sunday Mirror show the poignant moment his family took the icon’s ashes on to their final resting place.

The service is a stark contrast to to that of his bitter rival Michael Jackson whose funeral was beamed live across the world as Hollywood greats gathered to pay their respects.

Prince’s body was quietly released back to his family shortly after 1pm on Friday after undergoing a four hour autopsy at the Minnesota medical examiner’s office in Ramsey.

From there he was driven across Minneapolis to the First Memorial Western Chapel where, accompanied his sister Tyka, her son Prez and another member of the family, he was cremated.

Tyka with other members of Prince's family

"Throughout his life and following his Jehovah's Witness faith Prince made it clear to his family that if he ever were to be taken from us he wanted to die with dignity," said a family friend.

"He had very precise ideas about how he wanted his death to be handled and that didn't involve a huge funeral but a quiet service.

"He wanted it to be kept to the minimum of fuss. Prince was such figure you don't need a funeral to remember him by.

"The world has his music instead. He wanted to simply disappear with no fuss, no drama, no fanfare. It was just his style.

In keeping with his Jehovah Witness religion Prince’s service was carried out within a week of his death.

After his body arrived at the chapel around 2pm on Friday the service, which usually costs £1110, was carried out about an hour later.

His family stayed inside for four hours until being presented with

It makes such perfect sense. Prince always cherished his privacy. I totally respect his wish for privacy for a funeral. hug my old friend sad

Aw. God bless him. He was a star but a man too, a brother and a friend. His personal funeral is something to be respected at this present time of media gaze. My thoughts and prayers are with his dear sister and those close to him...

And all of you guys.

Fans needn't worry about not beign able to say goodbye. There's no snubbery or anything, as fans also have an intimate relationship through his art, and that's extremely special, as we can feel close to him everytime we put a record on... that's his gift, an artists gift to the world. He lives forever with us until the next time. pray

Somehow it hurts more, existing in a world where even his body has gone.

Has anyone seen the articles about NOLA Jazz Fest? So many artists paying tribute, because he helped and supported so many small acts.

As the media begins to claim he used drugs or bad things, this is what I'm holding on to - the stories of his philanthropy and love of music that are pouring out too.

It makes the world feel less cold, but I'll miss you Prince.
I'm looking out for a purple dolphin.

I don't have any issue with cremation, especially if that is what Prince wished for himself.

However, perhaps selfishly, I feel he should have been buried somewhere. It just seemed like it would be the most respectful thing to do for someone of his stature...

...but as someone else said, the public had him for nearly 40 years. His death is his own. It just feels so weird all that's left of him on this earth is ashes....

Hopelly an urn will be placed in a glass case in Paisley Park and the Park is turned into a place people can come to visit

It would be absolutely awesome if Paisley Park was turned into a museum of some sort for fans to come and celebrate him. I would love that!

The mayor of Chanhassen has already had talks with the family about this, so I'd say it's definitely going to happen.

I still don't believe this report to be true.

.

There is no evidence it is true.

.

The world's media is watching this story and just one gutter newspaper claims to have the exclusive.

.

No way!

.

TMZ have reported everything from day one and have been proven right.

.

I will wait until at least TMZ or even the BBC report on this before believing it as none of their facts line up.

Sure, TMZ is the first reporting outlet who said he died before all other news outlets did but I still don't trust TMZ at all. I only rely on credible news sources which IMO, TMZ isn't.

I agree with ladycat : "Somehow it hurts more to live in a world where even his body is gone."

I can fully understand he wouldn't want a "Graceland circus" after his death. The urn will apparently be kept in a "private storage". And, of course, his wishes should be respected, but it makes me sad I'll never be able to say goodbye to him "in person".
