It still makes me smirk to see Prince walking down the corridor pre-Tokyo, doing the high kick and being so self absorbed at how awesome he is that he misses the exit and has to double back as someone points it out to him. smile

TrevorAyer said: I don't understand. Fink was on this tour, his last one with Prince. If you listen close enough to the live recordings, you will hear Prince say during Question of U:"Doctor play it pretty..." Or did you mean: I miss Fink because he left after this tour?

.

Hell, the reason Fink isn't in GB is because he was too busy programming all the synths for the tour.

.

But then there are also people who claim Miko left Prince's employ after Lovesexy, even tjhough there's a famous Nude Tour rehearsal where they get into a huge fight. Oh, and let's not forget he's in the concert videos.

I thought he was away getting married at that time?

Too true! I like his embarrassed grin after he gets in the elevator.

I was there dressed as the joker/ gemini together with my littlebrother, who was at that moment a Prince fan too. We had purple jackets on with orange colored japanese letters on the sleeves (which we had seen in the Partyman video), green hair - and white make up in the half of the face, red lipstick too. Haha we were looking great... lol

Good old paper pics, from Nude tour Copenhagen, Gentofte 1990.

Love these pics - this is how concerts once were - raw and more about music and not production of lights and smoke - it is interesting looking back on old pics. Thank you for sharing such private photos and I think you both look fab !!

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Nude Tour in London was my first gig and I was disappointed after having watched SOTT movie and Lovesexy Tour on VHS religously for two years.

There was a review in the UK music press which stated that the opening 20 minutes was the greatest concert opening that the reviewer had ever seen. Watching the Tokyo and La Coruna concerts this is indeed the case. Another UK reviewer said that it was the most perfunctory rock and roll concert he'd seen. I can also see this point because the middle of the concert kind of lags.

However I agree that the opening 20 minutes is the most scintillating opening of a Prince concert and I'd like to know another performer who can match it.

Yeah, well... despite this being a "stripped down show" there was still an awful lot of lights, a lot of smoke and a shit ton of costume changes. Not the most straightforward stage set up he could have had either.

My first live P show was in Buenos Aires in 1991. cool

It was just after the Nude Tour and just before the D&P era.

The hair, the clothes and the show format was the same.

But add some new unreleased songs and keyboard player Tommy Barbarella. Which made it very unique.

Loved the look. Loved the music. Love the period.

I have that concert on CD and the version of Nothing Compares 2 U that he played that night remains my favorite version of that song to this day.

And at the time, the Sinead vesion was HUGE in Latin America so the crowd went wild over it.

And let's not forget that he wanted waterworks and that his entourage had a hard time talking him out of it.

Which he ended up getting in Rotterdam lol . I remember the show being cancelled mid-way through due to heavy rainfall.

quick question:

the CD and DVD start with the future, no intro.

but didn't the shows start with "dat intro"??

(the for you,1999,PR intro's)(the one at the begininig of HNR1).

I'm pretty certain they did.

The Japanese TV show is just an edited version of the concert.

With songs out of order, which is super-annoying.

Nah, musically the Nude Tour pretty dull. Prince's showmanship saved it from being a disaster. The only tour that was worse was D&P. Tony single handedly ruined that one. lol

Other than the first three songs, I really love the Nude Tour. I hate house music, so to hear those opening songs with that annoying house music beat destroys those songs for me. "The Future" is bearable, but "1999" and "Hosequake" are just destroyed, for me, by the beat. But, by the time Prince gets to Kiss, the show is wonderful from that moment until the end. On my own DVD version I have combined the Japan and Spain shows, and I've deleted "1999" and "Hosequake," adding the opening of the Rio pre-Diamond and Pearls Show. So, again, once the show gets to Kiss, it's killer from that moment to the end, especially "Bambi," "Alphabet Street," "Do Me, Baby," "Party Man," and "Baby, I'm a Star." However, I really would have loved for "New Power Generation" to have been added to the set, which would have made the show perfect for me.

The first time we saw this on BET, my wife thought this was the funniest and coolest thing ever. She said, "Now, there's a brother just happy to be himself and doesn't give a damn about what anyone else may think. Of course, we all knew this by this point in Prince's career, but this footage was just more affirmation.

It's fascinating to see him strut down the corridor pre-show, with all the energy coursing through him as he prepares to be the centre of attention. Such confidence for a wee man.
