Prince & The Revolution - SHOULD THEY REFORM?
Should Prince & The Revolution reform and tour/do an album again? My opinion YES! I think they were best band Prince ever had, not that his other line ups aren't good - I think the chemistry between members and on a musical level was the best, and live they had the best sound.
Will it ever happen? Different story of course but if Prince said yes or gave the go ahead then I'm sure it would. MTV Bands Reunited etc has brought together bands that had big bust ups and arguments, so even if any members or Prince with them had issues, everything could be worked out or forgotten ('lets just do this, we may never get another chance). It would also likely generate a lot of publicity & sales.

I hope not - would be too tacky for a great band.
Somethings should be remembered in their prime - like Muhammed Ali...nobody wanted to see him get back in the ring with Larry Holmes
Moments in time should be left at that...moments in time. ~Shakalaka!~..... ~Mayday!~

Well said! Prince's best work were the early first several abums up to around 'Sign O the Times' (1987) and not much further beyond that. They were also the most groundbreaking and creative.
What Prince is doing now and has done for MANY years - the songwriting isn't on par with his best early work not even close really. The albums sure as heck aren't as good either, not that he hasn't done some decent work over the years.
If he reformed the Revolution, it just might give him a well needed kick to do something great again! There are die hard fans that welcome his new material at live shows but most are there to hear songs he wrote , 25, 30 or more years ago. There is no real excitement other than amongst die hard fans with a new album, as people expect medicore soul funk songs & rock efforts with not much creativity.....and that is unfortunately usually just what they get.

Everyone has a price - well, pretty much everyone. ABBA turned down a BILLION dollars to reform.
I wonder how much Guns N Roses are getting paid for their reunion. It would have had to have been a lot for Axl and Slash to patch up their differences.
So, I think Prince would do it, if the offer was right.
We'll see. It would be cool.

Unless Prince wanted to do a themed tour with strictly 80's sounds and they were promoting HITnRUN Phase 4 (Purple Rain era), then there isn't any reason for it.
I'm not familiar with the Revolution today, aren't they relatively average musicians compared to the calibre of musicians who usually play with Prince? Nobody I know gun' bite

Exactly! And if there's one thing we know about Prince, it's that he never changes his mind or contradicts himself. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Never say never :nono: Maybe doing a tour or album would be a stretch but 1 performance either live or studio would be more realistic. I also wouldn't mind a pre-revolution mini reunion as well Don't need no reefer, don't need cocaine..Purple music does the same 2 my brain
..and I'm high | |

Actually is so gifted musically & vocal wise. He doesn't really need a band.
As evident with his Piano & A Microphone tour that's currently selling out around the countries. He has the gift of sounding like a whole band by his lonesome & always has. I don't think Levi Seacer jr would work with Prince again...
If anything I would love a mixed band like on the Baby I'm a Star performances

I enjoyed Boni,
I always try to imagine what the 1987 Sheile E album era would have been like along with Prince & the Revolution Dream Factory (Madhouse probably would have still happened) and Mazarati would have had a 2nd album
