Prince would be bored out of his skull doing a tour featuring Revolution Era hits. Lets face it. I'm not even sure the brand name "The Revolution" would be an exciting draw for the average concert goer in 2016. It doesn't entice people quite like "The E Street Band" on a ticket.

Yes, but doesn't he do The Revolution hits every night?

And do we really need a new model iPhone? No, but marketing makes us buy it anyway.
And that's how this could be handled: great marketing, great draw.
Of course, those people who think he only made one album in 1984 willl be first to line up....

"By the way, if anyone here is in marketing or advertising...kill yourself. Thank you. Just planting seeds, planting seeds is all I'm doing. No joke here, really. Seriously, kill yourself, you have no rationalisation for what you do, you are Satan's little helpers. Kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself now. Now, back to the show. Seriously, I know the marketing people: 'There's gonna be a joke comin' up.' There's no fuckin' joke. Suck a tail pipe, hang yourself...borrow a pistol from an NRA buddy, do something...rid the world of your evil fuckin' presence."

actually no. There are tons of songs from 1983-1986/86 not to mention tons of music from 1978-1988 that he does not do. That they could perform with him.

But I want it because the Roadhouse Garden album could be done and released/maybe some extra stuff. And then I'd be happy

Dont need a Revolution reunion...just need Prince, Wendy and Lisa to get in the studio together and make magic. It will only work if Prince checks his ego (and control issues) at the door. In other words, AINT GONNA HAPPEN sad

I vote no on that.

Past is past and I dont want to see re-worked PG versions of what was an awesome time to be young and hot. He will never commit to the sexy like he did then and it should be best left in the memory of youth smile

Traitor ex fans LOL!
Most people go to see Prince live to hear songs he did 30 years ago, they aren't there hoping to hear anything recent as most haven't even heard it. Sure there are die hard fans that like everything he does and have been fans from early on but his popularity decreased a lot when he became so prolific & inevitably quality suffered - a ton of solo work, all the Paisley Park acts, etc.
Prince is still great live but as a recording artist thesedays nobody much cares about anything he releases and it simply isn't anywhere near as good as his earlier material. Reforming The Revolution would bring some excitement! His early stuff was groundbreaking & highly original and creative, his stuff lately or for many many years could be ouutakres or old songs he's pulled from the vaults, so lacking is the originality & creativity. I'm a huge fan since early 80's but for past say roughly last 25 years his work has been very patchy indeed, and I don't think anything in that 25+ year period is as good as the first several albums or as creative & original.

Eh didn't say that. Some die hard fans would like to see Prince get back with The Revolution, though granted not all of them. Many as you put it 'casual fans' of course would like to see it! As for distinction between level of fans dedication, they've all kept him in business all these years especially as a live act.

Prince doesn't like to revisit the past which is fine if the future were better but him on stage with The Revolution was him at his best and album wise the first several were his best. Prince is selling peanuts thesedays with the Revolution there is a potential to sell millions again, especially with the publicity a reunion would bring.

No! It's always about the sad money grab when you see supergroups reunite for these huge tours.

Prince has never been about the nostalgia machine. And he is getting the best reviews of his career now.

I'd like him to get back with them in the studio myself, see if something happens. I'd be very ambivalent about a tour.

Prince sells out shows on the basis of his past catalogue, mainly hits from 25/30 years ago; no question he is trading on past glory and nostalgia (the hits). As a recording artist he is selling peanuts (often just tens of thousands) compared to any well known act Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Will I Am, etc. As for money grab, if there is a market & interest for a group to reform and they are still capable why not?

If Prince reformed with the Revolution - an album could potentially be a smash hit.

Any album by Prince in last 10 years isn't anywhere near as good or creative as the early albums.

I think 2014 would've been the last "ideal" time to reform, promoting a deluxe 30-year Purple Rain remaster with a possible tour.

That perfect opportunity has sailed.

I would still love to see them reunite, maybe for a one-off charity concert or something -- maybe something that isn't promoting or selling anything -- but I doubt that will happen.

he isn't wrinkle from. He does well with monitoring his health. And good genetics. But no one goes wrinkle free.

^ that first photo looks like he has had a face-lift...you can tell by the eyes.

My mate stayed with me last year - I think he only ever sees Prince when he stays here - I put it him after the pub!

Anyways, we were watching North Sea Jazz of a few years ago...and my mate just said - Blimey Prince has had alot of work done!

I guess we here maybe don't notice as much, as we see his image regularly and are therefore too close to the subject.

If you hadn't seen an image of Prince for a few years - your casting eye may be more critical.

a picture in shadow doesn't work

Prince looks really good for his age.
But to tell the truth that is how people should look. My dad is 72 and looks like his in his 50s.
If people eat well, rest, handle stress well they tend to look good at the age they are. Plus having good looks helps/genetics.
I don't believe he is wearing a wig or going bald either. For someone to say he has no wrinkles is silly.
But Prince ages just like everyone, we all know he wears make up -no big deal, and what if he's had a little something cosmetic here or there? I'm not judging him for it whatsoever. Whether he has had a little something done or nothing, he looks good.
