Lette

Prince has like almost over 40 albums, some of them were bound to be a hit and miss but its just peoples opinions in the end. He doesnt make music for his fans, he makes it for himself which is awesome. If people dig it, thats a bonus for him. I dont know... I could be completely wrong here.

Exactly this. First time I was truly disappointed. He did get back on track with The Rainbow Children though.

Wow....after reading everyone's definition of "the fall", i have realized that I am the only fan ever who LOVES Emancipation (disc 2)...sadness cry sad sigh

Not at all, I like disc 2! It's lacking in highlights imho but is consistently decent, which I wouldn't say for the other 2 discs. There'll never be an agreed tracklist on what a single disc emancipation would be.

No, no, you are NOT the only fan out there, that's one of my favorite cds by Prince. I enjoyed all three but Disc 2 was special for me because one of my wedding songs was F.L.S.M.W ..what a beautiful

song..when you are in love, All love songs stands out..but down the road in 'married life'

I started bonding with Disc 1 more and more especially the song 'I Can't Make You Love Me'

oh and also the song 'If I could turn back the hands of time' by Tyrone Davis --but then it ended up being 'Goodbye Love' by Guy and then 'Me' by Tamia became my anthem for life. ..ok TMI.. well, we live and learn. confused

EmancIpation--break the chain -break the chain

Yea! I think they are beautiful and thoughtful and/or fun and unique. You can really feel how in love he was... I also love his version of "I Cant Make You Love Me". The rest of Emancipation is not as important to me, but that disc 2 is SO beautiful! Yay I'm not alone music wave

How'm I gonna fill this empty room...

i would never refer to it as "the fall beginnning", but the point where media, critics, and some fans, started to collectively take shots at P, was after the "Under The Cherry Moon" film was released...until that point, he was pretty much undefeated...but the movie was so bad, it gave people ammunition to take shots at him...some never stopped shooting...

the fall started when he did Ecstasy in late 1987. I think it did something to his brain chemistry. He was never the same after that. his music lost its edge

Ummm, Genesis 3. Verses 1-8.

Did it miss it or did it really take four pages for this type of sarcasm? Knee jerk response for me. Everything else is subjective, really. I saw the autumn references but i forget how secular this site it sometimes.

When he stopped writing happy blissful love/sex songs, he lost people. I Hate U, Face Down and a few others tapped into common human angst, but folks don't like to live in those spaces very long; Prince stayed there for years.
