Paisley Park (instrumental) (Joy), So Dark (full), and Come (Straight Pass Remix) I don't know about some new (I think) possible outtakes I just saw-- first, an instrumental supposedly coming from 1982 or so, possibly titled "Joy." Anyone know anything more definite?
Also, there's a So Dark out there clocking at 7:08, with a instrumental jam kicking in after a fade around 5:30. I hope this one's real, because I like it.
And a Come (Straight Remix) at 11:19. Laid back.

I like the Come Straight Pass Remix! Very enpjyable. It sounds like a stripped-back mix of the album version. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

JOY is from 1984 (ATWIAD session times) from what i know but maybe some1 more in the know might confirm or not? And it seems that the real title of this Instrumental is PAISLEY PARK INSTRUMENTAL>>> (Demo work in progress in 1st stage) [Edited 1/4/16 0:18am] [Edited 1/4/16 0:54am]

I quite like the Come Remix. It has some of the instrumentation from 18 & Over. Unsure if its fan-made or real but I remember reading there was a Come EP planned with remixes so this could be from that. [Edited 1/4/16 7:40am]

Come shows the DNA of 18 & Over, I find this pretty cool I like So Dark as well (God knows why it wasn't this version on CB).

I'm digging the new version of Come, wishing we had a maxi-single/E.P. of all the versions of this track & 18 & Over (as the B-Side). Missed opportunity in my opinion... [Edited 1/4/16 7:41am] Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

Agree on the Come maxi single/EP. Could have been great with the 10,000 Wallpaper version, 18 & Over and other mixes. . Also agree on So Dark - always preferred the album version (Dark) but as you say the last minute or so is cool to have.

Joy/Paisley Park Instrumental is really interesting in that it's different from anything I've heard from Prince. I like the combination of live drums and Gay Numan-like synths. The wooh is on the one!

The track that is floating around being called 'Joy' is actually called 'Paisley Park (instrumental). I've written about this for my upcoming book and wanted to post this just in case you are curious (sure you are! lol). Hope this helps clear up some of the mysteries about this track.
-- this was posted on another thread because it was only about this particular song, but since that was locked, I've included this info in this thread that covers multiple songs. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. LOVIN' THESE! Thanx to whomever shared! Paisley Park is incredible! Tight and FUNKY. Sounds like Good Love's and Bob George's redheaded stepchild.
This version of Come blows away the album version! "I like to watch."

Yes, that would have been a great maxi-single/EP. . Unlikely but you could also add a live version as well, I love the one at the DNA aftershow. . I noticed the swearing is cut out the Straight Remix, where he says 'fuck it....we should get this shit started'

Man you are a-ma-zing! Thanks so much How did u even manage to get both versions' lengths?! Makes me think lots of ur contribution are credited as "from an early draft". If this means u have edited the book to make it more easily read by ommitting certain unimportant or repetitive details, which I could perfectly understand, I think there should be a limited edition "director's cut" with every possible little details for the hardcore fans. I remember Per Nilsen saying that DMSR was edited down from at least double its first draft's length, I'd give a lot of money to read the unedited version By all means, I'll buy it the very day it's released!
