another Prince is Overrated rant #Morrisman Smith I get it, not everyone is going to love this dude but, him being an asshole isnt reason enough to deminish his genius. Like I've always said, I love Prince music but I would never want to hang out with the guy (willing to bet we would come to blows at some point).
The usual agreements are:
" He produced nothing of value before or after Purple Rain".. GTFO with that.
" His songs are simple/not complex".. just what I need, one more musician that makes extra complicated shit that has no soul and connects with no one.
" He's a Jimi Hendrix wannabe hack" ... Didnt Jimi get much of his stage presence and style from Buddy Guy and T Bone Walker? ( Doesnt mean he wasnt great though)
Not to pile on this guy, but he did do an enitre video on Chuckii Booker being an actual musical genius as opposed to P. He is entitled to his opinon but damn it man!, really?
FYI he tends to talk a lot about being a songwriter and composer and uses that a lot for his arguments. Well, I checked out some of his songs on his channel.. umm, he should stop telling people that.
The guy does have some really good videos up though and he seems like a good enough guy but this one was just ridiculous.

Never heard of this guy , but thats his opinion. Just looked at another video of him talking about Prince a few years ago and he his praising Prince. Me thinks something has gone on, maybe he tryed to contact Prince for some advise and got totally ignored. There used to be someone else a big Prince fan on yt and he tryed to contact Prince and got nowhere and went into total meltdown dissing Prince and saying he was crap. I can see where he's trying to go with the video, but he basically attacked Prince's character and called him a rip off/unoriginal. Oh well, lol. I think Prince is great and in my mind he's a genius. Morrisman had a guitar clip of him playing "Bambi" and the purple police made him take it down. That may have had something to do it... I always enjoy watching his clips. | |
