Horny Pony vs. Jughead The decision to release Jughead instead of Horny Pony is probably the craziest music decision Prince has ever made. It makes no sense at all. If I ever met the dude that is question number one.

I totally get Jughead and Horny Pony. He was trying to expand and didn't want to keep making the same song every time.
My #1 question would be about The Wedding Feast! lol The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

Horny Pony was released as a B-side. Do you mean instead of Jughead on D&P, why not Horny Pony? TRUE BLUE

In my opinion,BOTH of these songs are terrible, with really silly lyrics.Neither of these tunes deserve to be on a Prince album.

furthermore, the "horny pony" concept had already been used a few years before (on songs like "Le Grind" and "Alphabet St.")....can't see why Prince was still using this tired concept in 1991.

I find Horny Pony to be quite an enjoyable bit of nonsense. Jughead hurts my brain though.

I like both songs, but Horny Pony is funner and should have been on the album imo. It reminds me of Housequake a lot with the dance and all that.

He replaced HP with Gett Off not Jughead. U can of course say this one would have been better than thas one, but given that the 80 minutes of the CD weren't filled there would even have been room for both, so I find the whole discussion a bit irrelevant (no offense). I think Prince just happened to like Jughead, and it was also his way to showcase Tony, which was an important plart of his "let's catch-up with hip-hop" phase from 91 to 93. Why not being my fave on D&P it's not a song I ever had a problem with, I actually probably prefer it to Horny Pony. Lyrically that's true, but musically, Jughead is taking the exact rhythm pattern idea from Housequake and reworking it with a new arrangement. Just tap out the Housequake beat when the Jughead chorus comes in. You'll find it right there. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I'll bite! "Horny Pony" is a better arranged song and has even sillier lyrics. It is also more hilarious with the sampled "AAHOOAAH"'s and Prince's over the top "Prince screams".
I think the OP meant the "VS" cuz they were both "dance commercials"

I find it hard to fathom that the guy who wrote Horny Pony and Jughead, was the same dude who wrote Purple Rain and Sign O The Times. Just saying.

There was a recent pic of him in Associated a few months back. Apparently he's doing fine and is now having a respectable position in a company unrelated to music or entertainment (though the poster would not tell in which field it was exactly). I prefer Jughead to Horny Pony, but both are just silly, goofy fun and probably never meant to be timeless classics. Jughead and Push are both like quick adrenaline shots that get the energy back up. - If I had to drop a track to include Horny Pony it would definitely be Money Don't Matter 2 Night. That song is one of the blandest momentem killers to ever impede an album. Hi-yo Silver, it's The Bone Ranger!
