Someone in another thread described this song as sneaky. I have to agree, the changes in the arrangements really are. On the first listen, I was about halfway through before I checked to see if it was the same song.

I quite like it on first listen. Again good musicianship.

This REALLY reminds me of when General Midi synths came out and you'd get somebody tracking famous tracks by artists and creating midi files and then you could stick them in your rack of samplers and synth modules, the latest ultra-tech and mix it out to seventeen speakers with 24 bit resolution and out would come...

except it's not a midi file played by samples and synths but by real musicans. With rhymes added authomatically by in this case human algorithms which have stored all the rhymes and come out with them in such a way that they wouldn't upset a ferret.

And it's all so pretty

and super-tragic.

I like it when it sort of becomes an instrumental halfway through.

But I feel like I am listening to it in some kind of way that will involve destroying evidence of having listened to it after words.
Maybe it's mission impossible at this stage.

Strange 40~50 sec silence at the end. I wonder why he put it.. maybe a mistake.

I thought at least a hidden track with some bantering etc. would play at my first listen but nothing. So disappointed.

Other than that it's a good song, addictive.

I wasn't keen on the live Montreux versions, thought it was a bit Broadway/cabaret but I'm loving the joyfulness of it now. I was just blasting this driving to work singing, clapping and giving it the jazz hands like a right imbecile

Tell me about it! I was there in Montreaux, almost the whole show was cabaret style horns instead of funky horns, I was gutted. Apart from Shades of Umber that show belonged on a cruise boat somewhere. What a wasted trip that was.

I can't get past the cheesiness but glad you can enjoy Big City on some level though.

Nothing wrong with enjoyong some cheese. I have had cheese before and liked it. I think for me I would have to win the lottery with a complementary blow job to make me so happy I would have this particular cheese

Love this track, a great party closer like 3121's get on the boat. Everyone gets a line or two here and I love those Jazzy horns, very James Brown style party music.
