Prince must have gotten anywhere from 1 to 3 dollars from each sold single and album in the world. Dolly Parton made a killing off Whitney's version of I will always love you (written by Parton.).

It's really not remotely possible Prince was paid that much. He was the songwriter, they currently make about 9 cents per copy sold. I doubt it was any more back then and possibly less. So he made $1 million or so in an era where his advances from WB for each album were around $5 million and his tours packed arenas.

[Edited 1/1/16 22:22pm]

Prince charges the same price as the Beattles do-which is on the higher end of the scale. To compare hits, this is What Dolly Parton said: In January, Parton told CNN's Anderson Cooper how she spent her proceeds from the song, saying, "When Whitney did it, I got all the money for the publishing and for the writing, and I bought a lot of cheap wigs."

No one will ever know for sure but I never believed that story, or at least that it went as far as she says. Also, since it's common knowledge that she made that statement 25 years ago, I fail to understand while she keeps repeating it over and over if not for the polemics it generates. The fact that it's consistant from one time to another doesn't convince me: a good liar is one who is very careful of not contradicting themself.

I must say I'm kind of a feminist and it's not my type to ever doubt a woman testifying about abuse, but contrarily to others here (the ones with an anti-Prince agenda for a lot of them), I do not find this consistant with any of the things I've read about Prince by either former associates or biographers. And I've read a lot. Now maybe one day he snapped, IDK, it can happen to nearly anyone who's emotionally disturbed (and Prince qualified at that time), but I'm not convinced: from everything I've read, it's just not his way of being a bitch when he wants to be one.

I also think that the second verse of Days Of Wild was about this particular story.

I don't believe much of what she says once it starts going into "violent" or "crazy" territory.

I do believe they met, but obviously it just went sour quickly. Probably something akin to her boasting about NC2U and/or him complaining about never agreeing to it.

I can't imagine a world where Sinead and Prince would be friends or even friendly associates.

hmmm So,if none of this stuff actually happened, that would mean that Sinead made up this crazy, bizarre story and decided to share it with the media....which would make her a lying,publicity-seeking woman.

I have to admit,I know very little about her as a person, but do you guys think she is really that type of person? In 1991,was she that desperate for publicity?

Just trying to figure out a possible reason why she would say these things.

It's possible that in her mind, it did happen. That she convinced herself that she is telling the truth and started believing her own story.

I'm sure her "horrible" night with Prince is nothing compared to the many horrible nights she's had to spend with herself. She sounds very self-destructive. I hope she gets well.

P behavior is very typical of an abuser who gets his way too often .. It would be nice to think sinead made it up but the events described certainly do not contradict other behaviors and attitudes we have witnessed from prince ... I think she is truthful and accurate and had every reason to get out of there ...

Her story does not contradict other stories we've heard about Prince from staff, or even journalists who wrote critically about him whom he later tried to intimidate. Minus the eyes white-ing over, her story about this incident has been pretty consisent over the years.

[Edited 12/30/15 8:41am]

Thats actually NOT any evidence of veracity and wouldnt be considered so for legal purposes. False memory is way more common than most people think. Not saying that she IS lying, but you CAN and people DO everyday consistently remember something that never occured. Its heavily documented in both cognitive science research and in law cases. There's even a growing movement to discount more and more "eye witness testimony" in some cases because memory and even our experience of events is more corruptable than we think.

Change it one more time..
