This is somewhat unfare as I could not even really get through HnR1 and PE the 2nd time. PE was a real dissapointment based on the live shows I had seen, heard from 3EG.
1) HnR2 2) AOA 3) PE

Art Official Age Hit n Run Phase 1 Hit n Run Phase 2 Plectrum Although depending on the day, my first two picks are interchangeable. So are we all finally in agreeance that Art Official Age is a really good album? It's in the first two spots on most people's lists.

HnR2 - I really love this album. In fact, it's been on nonstop repeat for over a week now and I can firmly state that it's a classic for me. It reminds me of "Come," which it has supplanted for a spot in my Prince top 10. The albums are not at all similar in sound or subject matter, but they are both "smaller" releases that don't/won't have a big hit single yet I think every track is good to great and they hang together beautifully as albums. IMO, though, track for track HnR2 contains stronger material. The songs I didn't think much of on their own ("Baltimore," RocknRoll LoveAffair," "Groovy Potential" and "Screwdriver") work extremely well in the context of the album. Plus, three of the songs ("Look At Me, Look At U," "When She Comes" and "Revelation") are bonafide Prince classics to me while "Black Muse" ranks with the best things he's ever recorded. As an awesome added bonus, my husband LOVES HnR2 and it's so great to have him ask me to stream the new Prince album when we're riding in the car. . AOA - A very good album that showed me there was still plenty left in the tank for Prince. After hearing his confidence on AOA, I knew that an album I would love as much as I love HnR2 was on its way. Of course, there was a detour first with... . PlecElec & HnR1 These two albums are somewhat interchangeable for me as I don't have strong feelings for them either way. I understand why they're hated, but I don't hate them. I understand why they're loved, but I definitely don't love them. Both are just ok, which is the worst thing I can ever say about a Prince album.

feeluupp said: Just look at his DEMOGRAPHIC in concerts now. I went to the last two concerts in D.C. in the summer everyone was probably in their early to mid 40's...
I mean records like Phase 2 to most orgers here will be enjoyable, just what exactly is the demographic on this site.
Songs like Big City are just bland and boring to me, but for that demographic I guess they appreciate the horns section.
If I want a record full of horns I'll gladly play my Miles Davis and John Coltraine records on vinyl.
[Edited 12/18/15 10:00am] Prince's age, nor his listeners' ages, have anything to do with the quality of Prince's music. Prince has been using horns on and off since Parade in 1986. Prince's sound is unique and his own. People either like Prince or they don't. Those who do will like/dislike something on every album he makes. It's been that way since the late 80's. People's musical tastes vary no matter what their age. What some may find boring, others may like and vice-versa. It's not age, it's musical tastes. I'm in my 40's. I love Bieber's new album, 21 Pilots, and Tame Impala, but I also love Prince's Phase 2, U2, Radiohead, and anything by the Foo Fighters. I don't care about the age of the musician, just what I perceive to be quality music. [Edited 12/23/15 10:02am]
